I'm old,74. I played the trumpet when I was young. This young lady has complete control of a very fickle instrument. She has that magic touch that makes a trumpet come alive and stir the emotions with clear, beautifully crafted notes. Incidentally, I played slightly to one side on my mouth too.
I started in 1955. Still have my 1957 (if it were a Chevy, it would be a classic!) trumpet that my father paid $133.00 for! I remember it well, because it was so much money to him :) I'll be 76 this August. I agree with you completely about Melissa!
Adrian Larkins I am 66 and played trumpet and baritone in high school. I could play the notes but after hearing her I don't believe I ever played the music.

I'm 69, and although I've played clarinet, string bass and a couple other instruments from the "distant past", I took up brass this year, buying a trombone in March, and a trumpet a week ago (each of the instruments for about $120, from eBay). I'm having a lot of fun, although I doubt I'll even play either anywhere as well as Melissa, especially on the trumpet!
I have been playing bugle ,cornet, trumpet, e flat horn, baritone and euphonium for 47 years now and can only dream of achieving such a clear tone. Bravo young lady.

I was a kid on vacation with my family at Lake Garda, Italy in the early sixties. At the campground they would play this when it was time to settle down the campground for the night. Beautiful then, still beautiful today.
Came to hear this version of her playing as I saw her play when she was much younger. Both are equally beautiful and she has grown into a beautiful young lady.

@@mtnviper1963 not Al Smith but e34 years total service. Taps written in 1863 or 64 by General Butterfield(I think that’s the name), for his son who was killed at one of the Virginia battles.
You young lady are absolutely amazing , their are so many beautiful versions of this. I have the Nini Rosso version in my playlist although your version is softened by other beautiful instruments you really are a master at work, you brought a tear to this big tattooed lumps eye .

As much as I admit that the song is not hard, I could never get the tone she has. Btw I learned the song in very few days
