Thanks, Ken, for sharing this great-looking MBK Old Guard which is budget-priced and almost a 5th pocket carry for me. I agree that they kinda have fallen out of the radar, but the few knives I have had in hand from them have been good. The Rosalinda was really nice. I'll "fly" your channel anytime.
It suprising what you can fit in a 5th pocket 🤣 My collecting definitely changes over time. Really enjoying trying out these brands that I slept on in the past.
I have that one. It came with a super weak detent, which I fixed. It came razor sharp. It's jade G10 that I've been meaning to dye for a year. It's a great work knife.
My thing with the USA made vs other countries is there are hundreds if not thousands of knives coming out of China, Taiwan etc. Most of these are pretty good and some may even be in the top 1% of quality made knives (reate for ex). Nothing against them but as a knife enthusiast/collector it can get overwhelming with all the new models constantly getting dropped and hyped up by the community. It's much easier to focus on USA made models and you get the added benefit of supporting a (usually) smaller manufacturer that often is more in touch with the community (For ex. TRM, ABW, Tactile, etc).
Looks like a nice pocket knife. When I get a nice I want to use it, I can't justify putting out several hundred dollars for a pocket knife. I'd be heart broken if I was carrying it in and it fell out of my pocket and I lost it.
Very nice blade Ken!!
First time seeing the MBK! A very nice looking knife Ken! As always, thank you sir!
These are pretty dang cool.
I like Ray Laconico's design style. Clean look and classic coolness.
Good looking knife and awesome video. Haven't really heard much of Monterey Bay Knife but it looks very nice. YEAH Ken
I was suprised that they had something in this price range. I always remember them being way out of reach before.
