Amtrak by USA Rail Pass - San Antonio to New Orleans on the Sunset Limited

- We were back on board and using our USA Rail Pass again to travel from San Antonio to New Orleans on the Sunset Limited, the train that had taken us all the way from LA 2 days before. This time we were in coach for a long (15hr) day trip.

Did you feel safe when you arrived in New Orleans, since it was dark?
Sure. But we took a rideshare rather than walk to our hotel in the dark.
Wish you had shown the meal you ate on the train and the quality and if you liked it.
The food was the same as we had been eating all across the country and back, so we didn't include pictures on this segment. For example, check out the Emeryville to LA video (about 6 minutes in). We ordered the same food. We really enjoyed it.
They say you can walk from the train station to the hotels. Can you?
In New Orleans, we arrived late at night, so we took a rideshare. We could have walked to some hotels. I think it was about a mile to the one we chose to stay at.
The American Amtrak is not an enjoyable ride and aboard service is averaging average. Compared to other countries traveling trains.
