Rammstein lyrics and videos often offer different interpretations of the particular song. The lyrics clearly are about a loved one passing away. However the video tells a different story: One interpretation is that the band kills its past ("Mutter" album and before), frees itself from the musical chains from their older times. They don't want to be clones doomed to repeat themselves - one needs to evolve to grow. The outro shows what happen if you don't succeed ... But with Rammstein you never know (btw the outro is a remix of "Zeit")

The license pl 10:11 ate of the car at the beginning shows the letters LI-FA-D8, which refers to their album Love is for everyone there. Mother 22 also has an early album on the elevator door. As Andreasbinner said, they try to burn their own clones, but that fails if you look at the end credits. Everything in between is free for your own interpretation. Go ahead with Rammstein. I've read that Rammstein was asked whether this is a goodbye of the band and they answered that this is not their intention and they don't have plans to end up with their music. The whole album - which has a kind of melancholic touch (even in the funny tracks) - was made under the impression of personal losses of the band members. In this context, lyric-wise "Adieu" looks to me as the feeling of a lost fight against death ... not of the own death, but of loved ones ... and to finally accept that there is nothing to stop it. A kind of sad acceptance of the inevitable. Video-wise they are referencing to the time when they had produced their album "Mutter" and almost parted and had to reinvend themselves - which they did fortunately. And there are a lot of references to other movies, e.g. Joker, Matrix, Immortals.

Nevertheless, Rammstein offers plenty of room for interpretation, so there may well be other, meaningful ways to look at that video.

....Not to come off as too stalker like hah 😶... but I forgot to tell you before ... if you are reacting to songs from the Zeit album , you can put on lyrics and have them auto-translated to english...for the most part the lyrics are good ... doesn't seem to work on other albums as well ( or at all..) except for the video- Deutschland . There is however a TH-camr called Educated Marine (shout out to him for all our english speaking friends ..!) who has many or most Rammstein songs with english lyrics ..
