I’d love to see a contest where people make an opening for Made in Abyss that matches the show, and then the winner would be the one that captures the essence the most.
Even after watching the series, I can't help but feel convinced that the Abyss presents an unavoidable alure for anyone who gets close. This series does such an amazing job of illustrating a sense of mystery, awe, and adventure that forces people to rethink what they know about the world. It almost seems like the abyss can grant the wishes of any who descend into the depths.
Amazing reaction, Made in Abyss in my opinion is one of the best anime in the history, my top 3 actually, the manga is publish 1 chapter each 6 months, the ED and Op of this anime are so good, katachi is my favourite
I think I ended up liking season 2 a lot more in hindsight. and it kind of ties in with something Bondrewd pointed out in the movie. when Riko and Nanachi were discovering the cartridges, and Bondrewd confronts them, Riko is able to correctly guess what Bondrewd did to earn his white whistle. and Bondrewd is actually intrigued by the fact that Riko could think of that idea, basically coming to the same conclusion he did, all on her own. it kind of proves a similarity between the two of them... one with really alarming implications. I'm not saying that Riko is actually like Bondrewd... it's more that Bondrewd might've resembled Riko in the past. even when Riko first found Reg, she tried to experiment on him. once she learned how durable he was, she used him to descend into the abyss and left everyone who cared about her behind. and even when she learned that the note from the abyss wasn't written by Lyza, she still decided that she wanted to pursue it. all of this, driven by Riko's investigative mind... her intellectual curiosity. the other reason people go into the abyss, is when they feel like there's no place for them in the outside world. Marulk has a skin condition, and is sensitive to sunlight, making them better adapted to life in the pit. Mitty and Nanachi were poor orphans that no one wanted. the children of cave raiders are raised on stories of their parents' accomplishments, and trained by the orphanage to become red whistles from a young age. and even Vueko's party was made up of people who felt like they had better prospects exploring the abyss, after feeling repelled by the places they were from. the obsession people feel over the abyss is treated almost as an addiction... in the early episodes, Habo's wife lamented that he wouldn't stay home... he was a black whistle already, and it seemed like he'd keep going back in, over and over again, until eventually, he wouldn't come back out. and it's not always because they die. whether a person is pulled into the pit by their curiosity, or pushed in by the rejection they face from society above... once they're in the abyss, it will try to kill them. most people go in with a sense of innocent wonder. it's one thing to hear that the abyss can be dangerous, and another to discover what will actually threaten you once you're there. the ones who survive are the ones who can adapt the quickest. the one's best suited for survival... the ones who acclimate. it's no surprise that the abyss's curse resembles diving sickness, where you become naturalized to the pressure at a certain depth, and a sudden change can wreak havoc on your body. it's not just that you get used to the abyss... it becomes your most suitable natural habitat. past a certain point, coming back isn't even possible anymore. and so, via the adults we see in the abyss, we can tell what this environment controls for. these people are the lifeforms that survive down here... and if the children in the abyss want to grow up at all, this is probably what they'll have to become. the abyss will digest you in one way or another. it either kills you and feeds you to its ecosystem, or it lets you be a member of that ecosystem, with its own earned place in the food chain. between the time dilation, the way the abyss alters the body, and the way it alters the mind, it's no exaggeration to say that the abyss absorbs people. and all of this comes together in Iruburu village. these are people who came here willingly, rejected by society, pulled by curiosity, innocent in their intentions, ignorant of the threats... they eventually gained a lot of knowledge about this place, but the price for every new piece of information, was an experience that fundamentally altered them into a more fitting creature for existence here. by the time they've sufficiently indulged their curiosity, they've become completely alienated from a life outside of this place. their knowledge will never serve a purpose out there... the utility of this knowledge is to help them survive here. and that's fine, if their only goal is to pursue more of the abyss. they consume it, and it consumes them. and what started with intellectual yearning, devolves into base animal instinct. it seems wrong to say, but there is a weird innocence to individuals like Bondrewd, or the villagers. when Riko, Reg, and Nanachi try to confront Bondrewd with all the horrors he's responsible for, he almost seems confused about why they're upset. like he doesn't understand it... like the abyss broke a fundamental mechanic in his head, and now he can't properly conceptualize cruelty. his goal is study and experimentation, and he'll use any body at his disposal to further probe his line of inquiry, even/especially his own. he is a collective entity now, and as such, even he can be disposable. and Iruburu village operates on a similar principle. because the village has this absolute system of value and fair trade, the villagers don't internalize their own sense of right and wrong. they're hedonistically indulgent in the things they want, and nothing really stands in the way of that, as long as they have the means to acquire it. if someone breaks a rule, the villagers also don't seem to feel any horror at watching the system tear someone apart as a consequence. their bodies are all modular and heavily altered anyway... even their personhood is treated more like property. truly, they function as parts of the organism that is Iruburu village. they've been assimilated. the enforcers of the value system are like a body's immune system filtering impurities, and the village itself is the body functioning as intended. it even makes sense that the curse doesn't affect anyone inside the village... the curse wouldn't punish your blood for moving in your veins. the villagers are treated as the inner workings of a single resting body. and so, "innocence" seems to run on a bell curve. you have the innocence of children like Riko and Reg, then the accumulated knowledge and expertise of experts like Ozen or Lyza, and then the decline starts, and you get people like Bondrewd, or the villagers. people in the late stages of their assimilation into the abyss. thematically speaking, I think this is cool enough that I can forgive the slow moments as everything gets set up... and once you know that the whole season takes place on one layer, you don't get blue balled by a lack of progression, based on the standards of the first season's pacing.
"Marulk has a skin condition, and is sensitive to sunlight, making them better adapted to life in the pit." His genetic condition doesn't make him better adapted to life in the Abyss, it's just that living on the outer edge of the Second Layer away from the sunlight means his condition doesn't kill him. It doesn't give him any advantage.
@@BloodrealmX yeah, that's basically what I meant... thank you for the clarification. the pattern I'm trying to establish is that, like others, Marulk finds life above more difficult/unmanageable than life below. or at least that's the original reason for his descent. for him, this ends up being more true than it is for others... a rare case where the benefits actually do outweigh the risks.
@@kamuyking551 The original reason for his descent is that the airship he was on crashed into the Abyss and everyone aboard other than him, including his family, was killed.
I think the most misleading opening would be 'School Live', and that extends to the entire first episode. The OP for that anime also changes slightly every episode, though the manga was considerably better it's pretty good.
Ending 2 is so incredible. It tied in perfectly with Vueko and Irumuyui's story, and each episode blended in the "I still remember you" perfectly. Amazing show.
Would love to see your re reaction to the Made in Abyss movie ED as well. It's Forever Lost, also by Myth & Roid with Kevin Penkin. Back then you even called it potentially your favourite Myth & Roid song.
The first seasoned scarred me so much, i was holding out before the second season. I even rewatched the first season, to get fresh into the second and ruin my life for this one weekend watching all together and holy shit i was nor aware i surpressed scene from the first season. The Anime is an incredible Horroranime its ideas and especially the soundtrack are crazy good, incredible even, but its so trauma indusing.
Wrote above in the mids of the video, the second the second ending startet tears shot into my eyes. I also rememeber how long Bondrewd theme give me instant goosebombs and teary eyes. Damn this anime, no wonder it never left my favourite Animes.
I wish you would react to entirety of World Trigger’s openings and endings. You’ve only reacted to op 4, and damn, it’s such an underrated anime. It deserves so much more recognition
It's just story about explorationof the unknown... you got beautifull landscapes, mesperizing creatures, delicious fruits... and uknown poisons, dangerous animals, strange diseases, everything could kill you if you approach it in the wrong way and you know about it as much as the ones that survived long enough to get back managed to explain
The animated continuation of Made in Abyss was announced shortly after the end of the S2, but the manga usually releases chapters every 3 or 4 months so it progresses very slowly, for now there is no material for a continuation. It would be great if you could buy the manga and read them if you are interested, I have acquired them until the last release and the drawing it has is spectacular, but keep in mind that they are more explicit than the anime by not having such strict censorship.

Wierdly enough, season 1 is all about innocent curiousity, until the wholesome illusion is broken, leaving you with a TON of questions. The movie treads on the limits of what is currently known of the abyss. Both with Nanachi's insights, and Bondrewds research, giving a false sense of "understanding Season 2 throws a curve ball, by not solving any of the remaining mysteries, but by revealing completely new things for everyone, showing that we don't really "know" the abyss Very very light spoiler warning ahead (I won't say anything specific) As a manga reader, let me tell ya, season 3 just laughs in our faces. The characters face obstacles they sometimes run away from, or overcome, and even still they have no idea what just happened. Characters are appear and explain a bit of the wierdness, only for them to say the next chapter "huh, what the heck is that?" It is kind of wierd cause Riko is like almost the only character that is still trying to understand the abyss. Everyone else kind of gave up, or just doesn't care if it ain't dangerous. In a sense, it becomes a bit more "action heavy", cause if every monster you fight is an eldritch horror, at one point even the reader stops trying to make sense of it all, and just cares if the characters survive or not. THIS IS NOT A CRITIQUE, I freaking LOVE IT, cause it gives you a true sense of "fear of the unknown". If it keeps going in thia direction, we may never even know the answers of any of these mysteries by the time the story ends. Speculation: According to the author, we still have a ways to go for the end. But by the way the story has been progressing, I feel like it will solve a "main character" related mystery, end the story, and leave everything related to the abyss... a mystery. Like, discovering Reg's past, achieving or thwarting his mission, and bam, story comes back full circle to the first episodes main plot. But never explaining where the abyss came from, what the curse is, who made the relics, etc.
The "wholesome illusion" is actually all in the viewer's mind. At no point does the series pretend it isn't about a suicide trip into an insanely dangerous hole, but the human brain just doesn't really register it until we actually see it.
Rrecommended to watch OP1 with subtitles Lyrics One cant resist the Temptation to go an dive deeper in, Your sparkling eyes shining brighter with the spark of an adventure. Our destination is in our sight we cant lose out here we still need to fight, as we take the plunge into This hellish trap. Lets find our own way an discover traces of the past! If we can find an answer Deep in the abyss, we don't mind sacrificing our humanity. So we will not stray we'll keep our heartbeats voice and its echo will steadily reverberate.
"The opening song is just so, like, happy, too" Lyrics: "kuchiaketa naraku no wana" Translation: "open-mouthed trap of hell" It's happy about things that you normally aren't happy about. "I would love to see a live-action version of this" Pretty sure people get put in jail for that. I absolutely love Made in Abyss, but I _never_ want to see a live-action version of it. Either they do a bad adaptation, or they do a faithful adaptation and outright traumatize real life child actors. I do not want to see real kids re-enacting things like botched field amputations. Misaki Kuno (VA for Irumyuui and Faputa) had to take mental health breaks while she was recording Season 2 and she was about 29 when recording that. "nothing dark happens, no! It's a super happy, very PG, you can easily watch this with your family" LYING ISN'T FUNNY. "but my god... I'm just thinkin' about all the scenes" Hey, you actually started reacting! Good! "Look, the opening's all happy, how can it not be a happy anime?" The chorus: "Itami to itami torikaeyo" Kate ni surunda Rakka no kakera Subete kizutsuite boku wa Katadotteku katachi ni naru Mezame no saki de Ikou zutto hibikaseyou" Translation: "Let's exchange pain and pain It'll give me life Pieces of falling flowers I'll be shaped and formed By all the pains I go through At my awakening Let's go, forever let it resonate" "Honestly might be the most misleading openings in an anime, you know?" Death Parade's opening is ridiculously upbeat and happy and has literally nothing to do with the series, which is a dour series where bad people must do bad things to each other as a punishment game for being bad people in life. On the other hand, Made in Abyss' openings actually reflect what's in the series and the characters' attitudes; the first opening is literally a duet sung in-character by Riko and Reg's voice actors. They're literally credited as "Riko (Character Voice: Tomita Miyu)" and "Reg (Character Voice: Ise Mariya)" instead of just Tomita Miyu and Ise Mariya. Ending 1 is genuinely just nice, probably as a palate-cleanser. However... Lyrics, sung by Reg: "Kimi no hidarite, boku no migite wo" Translation: "Your left hand, my right hand" "Oh my god, that scene, I thought I'd wiped it from my mind" Why would you want to wipe out one of the single best, most visceral and harrowing episodes of anime ever made? The manga is up to Chapter 69.5. Season 2 of the anime adapted up to Chapter 60. Take a look at the artwork in the manga, remember the mangaka doesn't typically have an assistant (and that the manga is drawn in true greyscale instead of using screentones for shading), and you'll see why it takes so long. Season 2 had some issues with rearranging things. They split up the flashback across the whole first two thirds of the season when in the manga it was told all at once to us when Vueko tells everything to Riko.
I wish I could've seen your reaction to this show. There's just so many intense scenes in this show that would catch you offguard if you underestimate how dark it could get. I love the memes that spawned from them though. They're so cursed. The amount of soup jokes that came out after a certain episode in season 2 is fucked up lol The manga is still ongoing at the moment. Not sure when it'd end. There are other anime with misleading OPs (you've seen madoka magica and it's like that) like this one but it feels like recommending them would be spoiler lol. You're supposed to be surprised after all. But anyways, I recommend the OP of Gakkou Gurashi! It's an adorable show!
You've done quite a few anime by now, so I can't be certain, but I don't think you've reacted to School Live (or Gakkou Gurashi!)! The Episode 1 OP is EXTREMELY misleading. The thing is that it evolves as things happen in the anime. I can't quite claim that it's different every episode, but most of the twelve episodes have little differences at the very least (major differences about every three episodes)! I'd recommend starting the series first, because watching all of the openings WILL spoil parts! That being said, it's just a series about cute anime girls that decided to live at school and even formed a club around it! ;p
Misleading anime openings? (I'm pretty sure I've mentioned some of them in another video.) - Myself; Yourself (ah yes, clearly a music anime) - Narutaru (what a happy anime... wait a minute, they did what with a test tube!?) - Honey and Clover (I don't think this one even needs a joke) ...
Most misleading opening ? Obviously "Gakkou Guraishi" xDDD And Yeah you're right !!!! Myles so need to watch this. Okay Luke, you can count on me : o7 I'll pester chat by always putting it in the polls xD
Sort of... it’s actually a pocket universe unaffected by Madoka’s rewrite. The anime also never finished technically since they skip a lot and only cover Part 1 of the story.
By the way, Watamote (WataMote: No Matter How I Look at It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular!) has a really misleading opening in my opinion wwwwwwwww
Uncomfortable anime to watch? Across a whole series, Elfenlied is right up there with Made in Abyss. If we go by single scenes, I think the to goes to Dandadan. Not even Hellsing's eviseration of Seras by Zorin or anything in Elfenlied, Made in Abyss or Goblin Slayer made me as sick as Silkie's flashback and yes, that includes Miti and Nanachi's backstory and Prushka. Not the anime as a whole, but that one scene... that one scene...

it seems wrong to say, but there is a weird innocence to individuals like Bondrewd, or the villagers. when Riko, Reg, and Nanachi try to confront Bondrewd with all the horrors he's responsible for, he almost seems confused about why they're upset. like he doesn't understand it... like the abyss broke a fundamental mechanic in his head, and now he can't properly conceptualize cruelty. his goal is study and experimentation, and he'll use any body at his disposal to further probe his line of inquiry, even/especially his own. he is a collective entity now, and as such, even he can be disposable. and Iruburu village operates on a similar principle.
because the village has this absolute system of value and fair trade, the villagers don't internalize their own sense of right and wrong. they're hedonistically indulgent in the things they want, and nothing really stands in the way of that, as long as they have the means to acquire it. if someone breaks a rule, the villagers also don't seem to feel any horror at watching the system tear someone apart as a consequence. their bodies are all modular and heavily altered anyway... even their personhood is treated more like property. truly, they function as parts of the organism that is Iruburu village. they've been assimilated. the enforcers of the value system are like a body's immune system filtering impurities, and the village itself is the body functioning as intended. it even makes sense that the curse doesn't affect anyone inside the village... the curse wouldn't punish your blood for moving in your veins. the villagers are treated as the inner workings of a single resting body.
and so, "innocence" seems to run on a bell curve. you have the innocence of children like Riko and Reg, then the accumulated knowledge and expertise of experts like Ozen or Lyza, and then the decline starts, and you get people like Bondrewd, or the villagers. people in the late stages of their assimilation into the abyss.
thematically speaking, I think this is cool enough that I can forgive the slow moments as everything gets set up... and once you know that the whole season takes place on one layer, you don't get blue balled by a lack of progression, based on the standards of the first season's pacing.
@@BloodrealmX I know that, I just meant that he could return to the surface, but doesn't.
@@kamuyking551 He could if he wanted to die, yeah, but I'm not sure if I'd count that as much of a choice.
I think the most misleading opening would be 'School Live', and that extends to the entire first episode. The OP for that anime also changes slightly every episode, though the manga was considerably better it's pretty good.
Hoshiiro Girldrop.
Though School Live is definitely a close 2nd.
Real, I wish he react to that anime too
Narutaru goes unmatched to this day
Ending 2 is so incredible.
The clapping at 10:47 was meant to be the sound of broken bones.
Just to see you brother brake in tears of joy when he watches mitty & nanachi together so wholesome
Bondrewd best Dad ❤️
Me and my gf just watched it. were in the movie and man. Im speechless its just so wholesome. we love the atmosphere and goofy ahh energy
I wish you would react to entirety of World Trigger’s openings and endings. You’ve only reacted to op 4, and damn, it’s such an underrated anime. It deserves so much more recognition
Didn't realize MiA traumatized Luke so much, lol
Also Luke, don't forget about the movie and Prushka.
Opening 1 and ending 1 the songs are indeed sung by the voice actors of riko and killua i mean reg
It's a Beautiful anime, but because of the creator everyone looks down on it.
8:09 grand blue
I honetstly preferred Season 2 to season 1. Cant explain why but I feel more fond of it.
Bondrewd Best Dad ❤️

I mean at least these openings are showing things that might actually happen. Madoka shows the wrong timeline, School Live is just plain delusional
Riko and Reg also sing the intro.
Made in Abyss fan? Subbing fr 👍
Truly the most wholesome anime ever 😊
Yes the most "wholesome" anime yet
Very wholesome series, sosu!
Wheres the revisited Opening and Ending of Code Geass? Was it remove or Luke never made it yet?
Ed's and Op's are like the Abyss itself, it's a trap, that swallows people whole)))
10:03 Opening 1 is also sung by voice actresses. Weird that you hear it in ending, but not opening.
Wierdly enough, season 1 is all about innocent curiousity, until the wholesome illusion is broken, leaving you with a TON of questions.
The movie treads on the limits of what is currently known of the abyss. Both with Nanachi's insights, and Bondrewds research, giving a false sense of "understanding
Season 2 throws a curve ball, by not solving any of the remaining mysteries, but by revealing completely new things for everyone, showing that we don't really "know" the abyss
Very very light spoiler warning ahead (I won't say anything specific)
As a manga reader, let me tell ya, season 3 just laughs in our faces. The characters face obstacles they sometimes run away from, or overcome, and even still they have no idea what just happened. Characters are appear and explain a bit of the wierdness, only for them to say the next chapter "huh, what the heck is that?"
It is kind of wierd cause Riko is like almost the only character that is still trying to understand the abyss.
Speculation:
According to the author, we still have a ways to go for the end.
Tsukushi wrote a children's story before he wrote Made in Abyss that you might find interesting. It's called Star Strings yori.
The "wholesome illusion" is actually all in the viewer's mind. At no point does the series pretend it isn't about a suicide trip into an insanely dangerous hole, but the human brain just doesn't really register it until we actually see it.
Very very wholesome!
Rrecommended to watch OP1 with subtitles
Lyrics
One cant resist the Temptation to go an dive deeper in,
Your sparkling eyes shining brighter with the spark of an adventure.
"Hellish trap" doesn't really sell it as well as the more literal translation: "open-mouthed trap of hell".
You need to watch made in abyss in a nutshell.
It is brilliant!!!
Also, for messed-up anime, elfen lied.... make AOT look like a kid show to me.
Yeah soooooooooooo Wholesome ^^
"The opening song is just so, like, happy, too"
Lyrics: "kuchiaketa naraku no wana"
Translation: "open-mouthed trap of hell"
It's happy about things that you normally aren't happy about.
Good!
"Look, the opening's all happy, how can it not be a happy anime?"
The chorus: "Itami to itami torikaeyo"
Kate ni surunda
Rakka no kakera
Subete kizutsuite boku wa
Katadotteku katachi ni naru
Mezame no saki de
Ikou zutto hibikaseyou"
Translation: "Let's exchange pain and pain
It'll give me life
Pieces of falling flowers
I'll be shaped and formed
By all the pains I go through
At my awakening
Let's go, forever let it resonate"
"Honestly might be the most misleading openings in an anime, you know?" Death Parade's opening is ridiculously upbeat and happy and has literally nothing to do with the series, which is a dour series where bad people must do bad things to each other as a punishment game for being bad people in life.
However...
Lyrics, sung by Reg: "Kimi no hidarite, boku no migite wo"
Translation: "Your left hand, my right hand"
"Oh my god, that scene, I thought I'd wiped it from my mind" Why would you want to wipe out one of the single best, most visceral and harrowing episodes of anime ever made?
The amount of soup jokes that came out after a certain episode in season 2 is fucked up lol
The manga is still ongoing at the moment.
That being said, it's just a series about cute anime girls that decided to live at school and even formed a club around it! ;p
We all know why i’m here from my profile 😂
This one is 10/10.
most wholesome anime sosu
Very wholesome 😊
the voice actors sing the first opening too
my second favourite anime lf all time
Yes..... wholesome....
You only did a first time reaction to the openings after u watched the show btw.
2:58 Made Happy in Abyss. )
Misleading anime openings? (I'm pretty sure I've mentioned some of them in another video.)
- Myself; Yourself (ah yes, clearly a music anime)
- Narutaru (what a happy anime... wait a minute, they did what with a test tube!?)
- Honey and Clover (I don't think this one even needs a joke)
...
Bro you choose the pain, i hade a strong mental health but after i watched this anime my mental was f***** up
Most misleading opening ? Obviously "Gakkou Guraishi" xDDD
And Yeah you're right !!!! Myles so need to watch this. Okay Luke, you can count on me : o7
I'll pester chat by always putting it in the polls xD
Next react to Madoka Magica Openings! Don’t forget Magia Record OPs as well as it is also in the same universe!😮
Sort of... it’s actually a pocket universe unaffected by Madoka’s rewrite. The anime also never finished technically since they skip a lot and only cover Part 1 of the story.
このアニメを家族いっしょに見るのは……
Hi 🎉❤
can you please react to Fruits basket endings?
You NEED to react to VOH ft Takeshi Saito It's my favorite MIA ost.
Myth & Roid never miss
I hope one day you will get reactions to the opening of Blue Dragon, an anime with the participation of Akira Toriyama.
Damn this anime is one of the most gruesome I've ever seen 🥲
YES
Still haven’t reacting to the ending of FullMetal Alchemist. You did the one of Brotherhood but not the one of the first version
I definitely think s2 was miles better than s1
The manga is just barely in front of the end of season 2. As such it's gonna be a bit till it gets far enough for a season 3 :(
You should react to addict from hazbin hotel
Make sure to watch the whole video even through the credits.
Gore, twisted and misleading = greatest anime ever 😅😅😅😅
Do you want your brother to hate you? 🤣
Psychonauts 2 Psi King Song and The World Ends With You openings, please.
Whether it's a fun anime or not...
You will see the truth that in Japan, the artwork does not directly correlate with the content.
Re:Zero is the most misleading because everyone thought it was like Isekai Smartphone
Notting bad ever happened in this series.
can you react to both the game and anime adaptions openings of utawarerumono and its sequel utawarerumono the mask of deceit/truth
Me encantaria que reaccionaras a VOH
Happiness 💀?
school life's opening (the first one)got to be the most misleading one ever
アニメの深淵きちゃ
Oh no.
the manga? shiz still taking too long to reach the end game bro
By the way, Watamote (WataMote: No Matter How I Look at It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular!) has a really misleading opening in my opinion wwwwwwwww
Most misleading opening I can think of is Death Parade. It just looks SO different from the actual show.
Bondrewd is the true hero. FOR THE GREATER GOOD! #BestDad
Anime blatantly tricks you with its childish designs and pretty scenery and then unleashes pure brutality
Not the anime as a whole, but that one scene... that one scene...
season 2 was peak season 1 was alright movie was better
Most miss leading => clannad after story don't watch it you gonna be destroyed
Gore and misleading = greatest anime ever 😅😅😅😅
