How To Judge The Front Of Your Car-Beginner Driving Lesson

  • In this video, I show you how to judge the front of your car. This tutorial will work for any car because it allows you to train your eyes and your mind to become great at estimating the distance in front of your car. I have used this method with every car that I have owned, and it works really well because it allows me to adapt my thinking to the size of the front of that specific car.

The key to doing this is not to look through the windshield, but where you can the bottom of the snowbank or wall line directly underneath your wing mirrors.

Thank you so much for this video. I've always unconsciously wondered how people just know how to know how far away they are but I guess they don't at first. Thank you for showing us that you don't or won't just know and that it's ok or even better to have to get out and practice your judgement. Perfect instructor 😊

A lot of the time it depends on the car, in my last car you could see exactly where the front ended and get to within a couple of inches of something without hitting it whereas in my new car for example I have no idea where the front ends and never will because of how its designed.

Thanks for this video! But you just taught your viewers how to park carefully, nose first. You forgot to tell us that once you confirmed you did not hit the parking barrier or bank, then you should find a permanent reference point inside your car-- maybe the frame of your driver window, or your side mirrors-- and use that to visually align it to the edge of the bank or the like. That way, you need not to get out of your car every time you park.

Make your owm video ya dick. You learn from repetition. I taught driving for 10 years. He is teaching the best method. Repetition. OBSERVATION. When you get out your car, always look how you judged.
      You build upon it time.
You are not going to be getting out checking all your life.
You teach this because people just park and dont even think to look again and remember.

i have my test tomorrow and still a bit nervous about parking because i could never really tell how close i am without getting out. During the test i wont be able to get out of the car is there a different method that could help me judge? Also i can never really see the entire hood or bonnet of the car only a tiny fraction sometimes i can barely see past the windshield wipers is that ok?

just leave space between you and the person in front of you. Just practice front judgement when you are parking. Its good practice (and courteous) to leave about a 3 second gap between you and the driver in front of you anyways.

This is a great skill to have in your arsenal. It’s great for parking your car but there are some reasons you don’t want to get super close to the car in front of you WHILE IN TRAFFIC.
    1. You might scare/agitate the driver in front.
    2. Your AC (if on) will suck up their fumes and poison you.
    3. If their car breaks down / or some crazy person is trying to carjack you, and your nose is in their ass you won’t be able to go around them right away.

For me i have my own preference and this is the easy way, all new vehicle this time is similar on length and sizes. It's simple if there is car beside you just lined up your front door to the door of the parked car and pretty sure you parked the same with the car beside you. One more tricks if the parking spot has a tire stopper, lined up the bottom part of your driver's mirror to the tire stopper at front of you and when you do that you are on the right spot, try this and i hope this could work for you too.

Usually the mirrors are the widest part of any car so... make sure the mirror has enough space and drive slowly and carefully, if there is no one around, stop and go look how close or far you really are, and make adjustments if necessary.
The only way to know where your car starts and ends is by checking it up yourself, and repeating when you get a different car.

2 hours? It takes some time, but not that much xD
I found that by night, with headlights on is so much easier as the lights become bigger and you can really tell when you are 1 cm from the thing in front.
But yeah, the first times, it is a must to get down of the car a couple of many times to check where you really are, and that goes for front, back and sides. And always think that you are closer than it appears, because it's easier to move the car again than fixing a scratch xD

    • @deepaksood3234
      @deepaksood3234 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Ehsan I assume by width u meant the other side of the bonnet. Simple trick is drive your car in between 2 white stripes on the road. Now adjusting your seat to your comfort just check the front part of your dashboard. The line where your wipers meet just see where is the white line intersecting it. That would be your reference point for the width or the other edge of the front part of your car.

hope car designer fuckin adds front mirrors . They could easily add it on top of windshield dude. Then the driver would just look a little bit up then will be able to see front
