- I finally got around to making a van tour. My van may look fancy, but I promise you it’s not. It’s wood and paint. I don’t even have any drawers. The fabric is leftover leopard print from five years ago, a $7 black bedsheet for Walmart, and the pink lace curtains were given to me from a woman who was cleaning out her mother’s home. I have really low standards for living and was able to cut costs. My electrical system is medium-quality and it’s still too much for me.

FAQ: I was a police officer when I purchased my condo and my van. I quit and began delivering groceries full time as a gig worker making a lot more money. This means I was financially established in a career and then with a gig job, which was how I was able to afford my condo and my van buildout.

Its always great to see a van build that's centered around personal functionality instead of being overbuilt. Either way it's never cheap, love that ur keepin it real! Ur edits are actually hilarious 😆

This was one of the best van tours I’ve ever seen. Not because of the design but because of your personality! This was incredibly entertaining. You might be crazy or you just really, really love your cat…and clothes…and shoes. The little “nuggets” you dropped had me cackling. Narcolepsy? Crying over the electrical and how you planned to use your smoothie blender and hair dryer, truly priceless. Pool stick inverter power button, nice! Just so many moments. Please do more videos.

i’m at 150 k in receipts so far just starting my build after two years of learning and getting everything here for the build i’m also using havelock wool and 3m insulation comb
I just watched a nice movie and then this. Hands down I had more fun with you. I admire the non-conventional layout, and your personality seems perfect for van life. I just ended living in a minivan for 1.5 years during the pandemic, a super clean Uber by day, sleeping in a hammock by night. You have to have a flexible attitude, which you appear to have. Good luck and be safe.

Nice van build. Try get another/more solar panel/s to increase your charge input. Regular alternators sometimes cannot handle the extra load of charging solar batteries and may wear out quickly. Another solution is to replace stock alternator with a heavy duty one. Thanks for sharing, greetings from sunny Jamaica.

I've a convertible couch for the same reason💤 Since you infrequently use your emergency 5 gal bucket, instead of getting rid of it - my alternative is a 2 1/2 gal. bucket & collapsible step stool because 1 bad sushi makes it all worthwhile😱 (you already have the puppy pads so you can stay inside)!

So the one time I used my bucket for an emergency, I actually just put my trash can inside of the bucket because I didn’t have bags that fit the bucket. I just wanted the toilet seat. So I would like to get rid of it and then just use my trash can with Jules’s kitty litter if I have to! And I have a collapsible stool!! Great idea to use that and the pee pads!!!!
@@NikkiJabs I always use kitty litter in the bottom & a small bucket I pre-line. My biggest expense was a toilet seat from Family$😉. I cemented (glued) clips to line up with my smaller bucket. So it's detachable. Ah, modern convenience in my van!
Hi, if you can find a high storage bin that fits in the space where you have the litter box, you can carefully cut a hole in one side to match’s the cat flap.
I did this after getting frustrated with conventional litter boxes being too low. Even those that say they have high walls.
My boy Feliks likes to stand, more than squat to pee. So he often peed next to the box accidentally.

I’ve been watching tons of van conversion videos because my dream is to retire into one but be able to work remote for extra income. I absolutely loved your entertaining “real you” tour. You made me smile a lot while learning about the van conversion. I wonder if you can tell me your total cost from beginning to end. That really what I’m trying to find out, what is the total bottom $$ line so I know what to expect. I plan on living in it full time. I love that you bought you van at auction, never thought of that. Would prefer a newer one to avoid breakdowns. Thank you doing your video Jules, you and your kitty are adorable. 😀😉

Hey! Had a "good idea fairy" thought lol Apologies if you've already thought or isn't feasible. --Maybe a layer of FlexSeal might be good for the cat area. I've seen folks use it in van showers. Might be able to seal and withstand the enzymes... At least could be a little extra protection secondary to the shower curtain

I wish my condo was paid off!! (My van is paid off and so is my regular vehicle, which I store at my cousin’s in Michigan.) I stayed within my means when I purchased my condo and it was only $95k in a very nice city. ☺️

Hello, new to the channel. This missus and travel with our 3 cats, so our build was built the same way. Cats first hahahaha. We use saw dust litter, it doesn't smell at all. My question is this, does the reflectix under the havelock wool make a huge difference? We have wool insulation with some rigid board insulation and we baked when we were in Texas in May. Anywhoo, love the content. You sound like us, except I'll never get rid of my poo bucket

13:43 just under my face you can see a silver mount on side of the bench. That is the table mount. I NEVER use it. Waste of money for me. I don’t use a table.
Is the wool insulation really this warm in a van !? No one really tells you the truth about van life ! I just started watching your video! Very smart so far ! Can’t wait to find out how you go without a bath or fixed bed !
Yes! I’ve compared my interior temperatures with a couple other vanlifers in the Chicago winter when I was there. I was the only one who had Havelock wool and they both told me my van stayed much warmer for longer periods than theirs did! When it was around 30°, I would turned my van on for heat for about 10-15 minutes and it would stay in the 50°s-60°s for about 3-4 hours before I had to turn the van on again. That did mean waking up every few hours in the middle of the night, but I felt safe without any heaters that would cause carbon monoxide poisoning.

So much to love here. The walk-through The colors lots of Storage WTF happened with that sink somethings not right. If you are ever in Malibu I’ll fix it for you. I have the exact same Fossett I guess a lot of vans Have that one.
The three components to my water supply are the pump, the accumulator, and the strainer. I have no leaks. I think it’s the strainer or accumulator. I’ve been meaning to remove the accumulator because I just don’t need it.
@@NikkiJabs good plan process of elimination start by just getting the pump pumping water out of the water supply Then start connecting your plumbing after you know that the water shooting out hard enough

Yes, insomnia and narcolepsy go hand in hand sometimes. Sometimes I also struggle to sleep at night. Our circadian rhythms are broken. 😢 Well I’m glad you liked the video! I’m going to try and upload building videos. They’re on my old camera.

I bought the condo to establish myself financially and within the real estate market. It’s cheap and I got a forever home in my 20s. I bought the van to travel. I have zero plans on selling the condo!

Cool van. I'm building mine, right at the point where I'm gonna cut it up and do all the electric. I kinda laugh about it like damn I spent 1400$ on a ceiling fan. But it's really about having a good electric system that can power that fan.
$1400 was for the electrical system or the fan??
@@NikkiJabs haha the electric system. The joke is that I had to do all that just to turn the little fan on. I got the renogy DC to DC with mppt because it's kinda idiot proof.

If you like to save money I HIGHLY suggest you buy the pee pads human use it's only $6 for 18+ large pads it's the same thing puppies use just cheaper I use it for my pups and it saves me $60 a month by switching to humans underpads before switching I was spending $130. Great saving hack😀👍
