@@FirstnameLastname-dm2xl A sutrah (Arabic: سترة‎ lit., "screen, cover") is an object used by a person performing salat as a barrier between himself and one passing in front of him. The person praying should be positioned at less than or equal to three forearms' length away from the Sutrah. The Sutrah’s height must be no less than one forearm's length (i.e. the height of the rear end of a camel's saddle), whereas its width has no stipulated size. Say, "To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth?" Say, "To Allāh." He has decreed upon Himself mercy. He will surely assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. Those who will lose themselves [that Day] do not believe.

    ﴿وَلَهُ ما سَكَنَ فِي اللَّيلِ وَالنَّهارِ وَهُوَ السَّميعُ العَليمُ﴾ [الأنعام: ١٣]

Say, "Is it other than Allāh I should take as a protector, Creator of the heavens and earth, while it is He who feeds and is not fed?" Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, I have been commanded to be the first [among you] who submit [to Allāh] and [was commanded], 'Do not ever be of the polytheists."
    - Saheeh International
    ﴿قُل إِنّي أَخافُ إِن عَصَيتُ رَبّي عَذابَ يَومٍ عَظيمٍ﴾ [الأنعام: ١٥]
Say, "Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."
    - Saheeh International
    ﴿مَن يُصرَف عَنهُ يَومَئِذٍ فَقَد رَحِمَهُ وَذلِكَ الفَوزُ المُبينُ﴾ [الأنعام: ١٦]
He from whom it is averted that Day - [Allāh] has granted him mercy. And that is the clear attainment.
    - Saheeh International

      @aishaarshadalam3412 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

No but even if you take God out of the equation and just ask why is there suffering? The answer still wouldn't satisfy them. I mean we live on a planet that is constantly changing, there are so many factors in play, climate, environmental not just human. You can be walking down the road and an earthquake hits and you die. Why is that seen as unfair? That's just how the world works we aren't living in utopia. I seriously don't understand why the suffering question is seen as this big controversy.

But if your claim is there is a god, then both suffering and not suffering does not make sense.
Could a god have created an earth with no suffering ? Yes. Could he or she have created an earth without varying levels of suffering, ie childhood terminal disease and cancer, yes.
Why put us through all the pain and torment just for his or hers pleasure ?
If there truly is a god, and it has all the omni titles, it doesn't need to test us and put us through a life of torment, take our children from us, allow serial killers and rapists to affect our families, when this god is omniscient and has therefore created us (allegedly) knowing our full life ahead of us, so this means we have no free will because an omniscient omnipotent god has put us on a path that they designed just so they could watch the show ? Wtf !!
What a complete deuche bag of a monster would do that ?
And then we need to sit in heaven, worshipping this monster, knowing that people we loved on earth are not there with us, because this all loving god threw them in a pit of fire for eternity, and there's nothing we can do about it ! This would by definition not be a "heaven" for me, It by definition would be hell..

Ok, so you're suggesting there's wisdom in putting us through a terrible life, as a test that he or she already knows the outcome of ??
Explain how this act is wise? Its incredibly stupid if its anything at all.
If a god has all the omni titles, why do we have earth at all ? Why not just put us straight into a pit of fire or a heaven and be done with it ?
The fact that he or she knows our destiny and outcome, choices etc is by definition pre destined, hence we are just robots acting out his or her little childish game..
There's nothing remotely intelligent about that at all, whether you can understand it or not, its juvenile and its just a huge sim game that your god plays for pleasure.

Ultimately Islam makes us better people because its a *way of life*. That's what the tests are for. It's about how we react to a calamity or even prosperity. Even in prosperity its a test to see if we are thankful to our Creator and/or if we will help others in calamity. We are not perfect; we might fail some of these tests but in the end we know we will return to Allah. It's about being humbled by acceptance. How does that not make us better?
If we reject life is a test, then what's the point of us being on earth? There would even be no point in morality. That's why we see some of highest suicide rates in the world are those with atheists majority countries.
If we say "There's none worthy of worship but Allah alone", then we have to get rid of our ego of self-importance and self-entitlement and accept the guidance that comes with it. Everything else becomes easy. May Allah guide us and those seeking Him.

Hashim talks about infinite regress and uses a book being passed along a queue of infinite people which will never reach you. I have a couple of points to clarify in this 'analogy'.
Am I waiting at the end of the queue? I can't be as an infinite queue can't have an end.
Where does the book start it's journey? An infinite queue can't have a beginning.
So how can the scenario even be conceptualised?
The only way is that the book is somewhere along the queue at some finite (unknown) position, and I am at another finite position along the queue so I will receive the book in time. May have to redefine the concept of the infinite queue.
    Thoughts?

    1) Everything that has a biggining of its existence has a cause of its existence.
2)the universe has a biggining of it's existence therefore:
    3) the universe has a cause of it's existence
    4) if the universe has a cause of it's existence then that cause must be at some point uncaused because of the impossibility of the infinite regression of cause, and basicaly this question arise because you are supposing that this fist cause is part of the univers, and the law of this univers applying to him, so basicaly you are supposing that this uncaused cause existed before existing....and it's simply an illogical argument
    5)
The submission of this univers to unchangeable strict laws means that there most be a maker who imposed this laws
The fine tunning can't come from randomless or chaos
    6) Affectional proof:
the feeling that we have are not part of the matter of the univers and we can never be able to demonstrate physicaly the amont of feelings we have so, it have to come from something out of this univers witch is not mater nor energy nor place nor time.
And remember something can't come from nothing.
    7) Conclusion: conceptual analisis of this uncaused cause needed : conscions ; powerful ; intelegent...

I find Hashim's explanation here quite inaccurate in a number of ways. He makes multiple mistakes in trying to communicate an argument. By the way, I love the brother, so it's not like I'm dissing him or anything like that, but these topics really require you to use correct statements. So for example, Hashim says that; "we know that something cannot come from nothing". This is false. I know what he's trying to say, but when you phrase it like that, then it's simply incorrect. We know for a fact that something can come from nothing. Something's coming from nothing all the time. In fact, everything is constantly coming from nothing.
He further says that; "nothing doesn't even exist as a concept". This again is inaccurate. Nothing does exist as a concept, but it doesn't exist as a reality. If it didn't exist conceptually, then we wouldn't even have a word for it, and we wouldn't be discussing it. Conceptually, nothingness exists. It even has this weird grey area, in which it semi-exists as a reality. Non-existence is certainly possible, after all. It is possible for things to stop existing, but as soon as they cross that border, so to speak, they desolve into nothingness. It's a weird dynamic where non-existence can become true/real, but as soon as it does, it's no longer anything at all. Don't try to wrap your head around it. So I guess it's valid to say that nothingness doesn't exist, as a reality, but conceptually, it does exist as a possible 'state of being', although, ironically, it's not an actual state of being.
This might sound like I'm nitpicking now, but in Islamic theological discussion, people tend to avoid using the term 'cause', and Hashim uses it a lot. It's fine to use it, as long as you're not implying that Allah is 'the cause'. That has to do with the fact that Muslims can't make up names for Allah that He Himself didn't reveal, or that aren't indicative of His beauty and His majesty. Referring to Allah as a cause is considered an ugly reference, and so the theologians usually didn't use that word.
It's actually the case that the entire universe and everything in it is constantly coming into existence from a preceding state of non-existence, is subsequently annihilated, and again created anew. And this is then repeated. So this doesn't just apply to the origination of the universe 13,5 billion years ago; but it applies to every single moment. There is no cause and effect in the world, but everything's constantly in a state of emerging and being annihilated. But this might be a bit too much for new-comers, so you'd go to the origination of the universe (or the Big Bang, or singularity, or whatever terminology is popular), and prove your point from there. I just think it worth mentioning that Allah is the Creator of everything that exists that isn't Him Himself or His attributes, and this includes all moments in time, and all events throughout time, and throughout the universe. It also includes the six directions (space), human beings and their incidental characteristics, including their actions, words, intentions, thoughts, beliefs, etc. This is the position of orthodox Islamic theology, throughout the centuries.
To briefly return to my initial statements. The correct way of saying what I mentioned in my 'critique' would be that something cannot come from nothing without a preceding cause. Something does come from nothing, as I said, and we know this, because the future, for example, isn't extant yet, so when a new event begins to exist, then it's preceded by its non-existence. Hence; it comes from nothing, or it emerges out of a preceding state of non-existence. It's just that it cannot accomplish this without a preceding cause. We know that the universe didn't exist once, and only Allah existed, and so the universe emerges out of a state of nothingness (non-existence).
To prove that something that begins to exist requires a preceding cause, one might envision a particle coming into existence. This emergence is either necessary, possible, or impossible. Since it is proposed that the event occurred, then the event couldn't have been impossible. If the event is necessary, then this means that its emergence is a must, in which case we can ask whether this necessity is intrinsic to the particle, or extrinsic to it. Meaning; it either necessitates its own emergence, or some external factor is forcing its emergence. Since the particle didn't exist yet, it's not possible to ascribe the necessity of its emergence to itself, because that which doesn't exist cannot have intrinsic properties, as this would require it to exist. In other words; in order for the particle to cause its own emergence, it would have to be an actor that is going to perform the action of bringing itself into existence, which is contradictory, as the particle would have to exist and not exist, simultaneously. So we're left with the second option: the supposed necessity of the particle's emergence must be due to some external, preceding cause that is other than the particle itself. If we assume that the emergence of the particle is not necessary, but merely possible, then this means that the particle could've emerged, or it could've just as well stayed non-extant forever. So here, since it did emerge, then its emergence was somehow favored over its previous state of non-existence. The emergence of the particle outwheighs the alternative, and so what can be said about this outweighing is that it's again, intrinsic to the particle itself, or extrinsic. There is no third alternative. And again, because the particle was non-existent, then the non-existent cannot chose to emerge, for the same reason that was mentioned before. We know then that this outweighing pertains to an external, preceding cause. This shows you that we know for certain that something cannot come into existence without an external cause. This doesn't prove "God" yet, it's just to take away the excuse that we don't know if something could come into existence without a cause, because I've seen atheists go for that one.
Everything that begins to exist, therefor must be caused by a preceding 'other'. From there, the problem of the infinite regress comes into play. And you then look at the difference between an intinsically necessary existence, and an intrinsically possible type of existence, or what it is called contingent. That which begins to exist, exists as a possibility. Meaning that it can exist, or it can not exist. The theologians say that the possible in existence accepts non-existence (as a possible state of being), because it begins to exist, and so its existence is preceded by non-existence, and it can cease to exist, and thus fade away into a state of non-existence. Hence; it accepts non-existence as a possibility. The necessary in existence MUST exist, and does not accept its own non-existence as an option. So it exists, and it always exists, and has always existed, and can never cease to exist. There's nothing in the world that fits that type of existence, but this type of existence is necessary in order to explain the emergence of contingent existences. So that's where the mind starts to 'find' God, if we take this purely rational approach. It branches off into many other rational proofs. These arguments, however, aren't really required for most believers, because belief is something that isn't just occurring in the mind, but it's also a deeply spiritual matter. Kalaam then functions as a means to explain theology where necessary, and to refute deviant ideas, but it's not really meant for common people as such, as it can be complex and lead people astray.

@Salmaan UK No I literally quoted him at 2:22 That's what I mean: you gotta select your words more carefully. The kid immediately agrees, but if that were me, I'd immediately pick up on the mistake and point it out. I also find Hashim's entire tone kind of insecure here. If this topic is somewhat difficult to discuss, then I wouldn't recommend bringing it up in the first place. You've got to be very much aware of what it is that you're communicating. If your opponent is familiar with the topic, and he starts asking difficult questions, and you then can't deal with that because you've only learned the basics of Kalaam, then an opponent can make it seem as if the argument is flawed.
"I’m curious to know as to what comes from NOTHING?"
      All of creation.
That's the answer to your question. But it's important to explain what you mean when you formulate the question like that. I interpret it as: "What originates?" or "What emerges without precedence?" I then say "the entire universe", and this is correct, as Allah says in the Qur'an: "Originator of the heavens and the earth..", which means that the universe is created without precedence. Or: all of creation comes from a preceding state of non-existence (i.e. nothingness). But it's possible that you mean: "What begins to exist without a preceding, external cause?" If that's your question, then my answer is that there is no such that. Nothing begins to exist without a cause. You see the difference in meaning? So if you ask people that question, make sure you clearly communicate what you mean by "from nothing".

    • @XaeeD
      @XaeeD 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@Salmaan UK I replayed it several times, trying to see (hear) if he isn't actually saying: "do you know that nothing doesn't exist, it's a concept", but it really does sound like he says: "do you know that nothing exists as a concept". At any rate. I believe he knows the difference. I just pointed out the fact that you've got to pay attention. Like I said, I'm not trying to embarrass him, it's just to comment on it.
"If NOTHING does not even exist how can all creation come from nothing?"
Nothing there means: the non-existing. Before the universe emerged, it was non-existent. Before the future arrives, it's non-existent. The past is no longer existent.
"Allah created ALL CREATION by His command and that is not nothing"
No, you see, now you're referring to a causation, whereas I distinguished between "nothing as a cause", and "nothing as the non-existent". There's a difference.
