    I'd like to suggest the song, "Me and My Uncle" by the Grateful Dead for a future video. I'd love to hear your interpretation of this tune as well as how you'd create the western feel in your version.

      Thanks Michael - your request is just the kind of input I'm looking for! Jerry's playing (and the whole GD band's music) is so epic - and well worth of study - how to uke-i-fy the GD. Hmmm...this has got me thinking :)

    Thanks Stu. Yes would love to know what Greek mode and Scale used and passing notes, you might be surprised that a lot of us might be old school. I personally find the learning the Uke easiest by using the modes and of course with that knowing the notes of fretboard. I teach Bass and Guitar and I make sure they know them, but for fun I show them the modes for soloing through to get to know the scales.

      I agree totally - knowing the full scale is coming in a future lesson - for now, just little tidbit of the scale patterns are what I'm showing..thanks for your interest & inspiration.

    Two weeks ago I bought my first Ukulele and I love it. Your videos have opened up so many possibilites. Your Uke lessons are so informative. The fingernails on my right hand (I use that for strumming) are short, I use a pick. Will I be able to play the Ukulele like you? Also, what kind of pick do you recommend? My uke has 4 picks, but they are plastic. I read you should buy a felt pick. I use Dunlop picks for my guitar. Do you recommend this company for Ukulele?

    • @UkuleleZen
      @UkuleleZen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! Yes, you’ll be able to play just fine with your nails as they are…it takes some time to find The playing technique that feels most comfortable. Dunlops are great too! I like using a wooden peg and a nylon ukulele strings made by “tree picks”… some signature versions will be available at my website soon (www.stufuchs.com/store)

    Hi just wandering if you might know the name of the scale please? Like just as a quick look I think that first turnaround was a C blues scale with sharp 7th or b octave, I am not sure if you know your higher notes because Tab has got most people no idea of their notes they are playing. But if you do know them please it would make things a lot easier thank you, I have you in my subscription area and appreciate your lessons, thanks again.

    • @UkuleleZen
      @UkuleleZen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Indigo, all the licks are in the key of F… Tabs for this whole series are coming soon thru the U.Z. Patreon Page. Scalewise, I was using a mixture of the F minor pentatonic blues scale and also some mixolydian mode (Major scale with a flat seven). I'll be going over more scales in future videos fo sho! thanks for watching U.Z.! BTW -I think the last riff is the enclosure up from the major third to the major fifth with a route on top t the eighth fret F… First-string. ..enjoy. -Stu

    • @indigoking6618
      @indigoking6618 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Stu, sorry it was 5.30am and I was a bit cross eyed. I said C blues in the turn around Yes you were right a minor F Blues pent with octave e being a passing note in the first bit.
      But the rest I stand by if you could just give a quick shout out to the scale or passing notes, I know you said it will be explained more in detail in your material, but sometimes it's just easier if you speak the language of music, it maybe a personal problem of mine but it drives me a bit crazy when I get invited to jam or play in a working band and they have learnt everything from Tabs, not even knowing the basics like the notes past the string name. I don't expect people to know the modes but mate it is really useful learning a new fretboard. By knowing the modes one then knows the notes. Specially Cmaj I do teach a little Uke and teach them Amin blues then to play Cmaj solo but thinking about a flat 7th note or not in C.. But all in all I have enjoyed your Vids and thinking about the spending money, I just have to work out how it works when I follow a few.
