I really enjoyed the way you filmed this video, nice to be able to watch you work, and cover the steps necessary. Its great to be able to watch you breathe life into old Detroit iron, in the background, while I push papers around my desk. Looking forward to hearing this triple clear its lungs for the first time in a long time.
Thanks.:) True, I guess the engineers figured there's enough strength the way they designed it. I know the V 53 series have cross bracing between the caps to add strength, but not required on the inline 53. Thanks for watching.:)
Great job...Thanks for sharing....Are you going to put a turbo on this engine? We are going to put out another video later on today it's downloading now...We are showing where the turbo will be on the engine and we are trying to measure the oil lines we will need plus the fittings and for all the connections...If you can watch our video I would love your advice on what kind of of oil lines we should use....Plus any other advice you may have for us....Thank you in advance....The mechanic we hired got the virus and hasn't been able to come over and help us....When he's able to come and help us start it our goal is to have all the lines and everything ready for him....
Thanks, yes I'm converting this 1964 N engine to a turbo version. I'll be using a 4-53T turbo I have and will plumb it in. Should be a nice setup to run my compressor. I'll have a look at your video and see if I can help. It's tuff times for sure with covid, can't wait till covid is over.:)
@@detroitgarage9430 I just watched Warrens latest video he said he got sick he said he never got tested ... I may have over stepped my authority...please disregard my comments and don't take my word on this take his...I don't mean to start any rumors ...I must have misunderstood my conversation with him....
Would you happen to know where a small spacer might go on this part? I was disassembling the engine for our water pump and when I removed the plate, a small round spacer fell on the ground and I have no idea where it came from.
Hello sir I don't know your name, I'm watching your classes step by step here in Brazil I'm very grateful for all this knowledge. I didn't understand at 25:00 what is that piece of plastic, what is it for? Can you explain please?

First!!!!!! I think all of us have a can of the "Peanut Butter". I hate it when I forget a step.
Lol, the Peanut Butter tastes really bad.:) I don't recommend eating it with toast.lol
@@detroitgarage9430 It's too expensive to put on toast. LOL!
Another great video! The edits were perfect and a very informative video. What music were you playing? God bless, take care!!
Thanks, it's just a TH-cam sound track I used.
@@detroitgarage9430 I like it, I'm a 80's rock/metal guy so right up my alley. Thanks.
With such a long skirt, it makes me wonder why Detroit never made crossbolted mains? 🤔 Nonetheless, great video sir. 👌

What’s your favorite assembly lube?
I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching and subscribing.:)
I don’t have a favorite, I used 40 wt oil and stp mixed. It works really well.:)

Did you remove the entire oil cooler plate? There's small stainless spacers behind the cooler base plate.
@@detroitgarage9430 I did, I will check that. This is my first 3-53 and I was trying to be careful with it. Thank you for replying. I love your videos
@@davidb.5807 Your welcome, there's 3 small stainless shims.:)
@@detroitgarage9430 just checked, I found those, but what I have is about 3/4 of an inch thick and about 1/2 inch in diameter

It's called Plastigage, it's used for measuring the clearance between the bearing and the crank.:) Thanks for watching.:)
