Those Dr Fish poppers and their Noeby twins are excellent lures and amazing for the price.
I was originally a big fan of the Rapala Saltwater Skitter Pop. But when I bought a Noeby version of the popper you were using, I was amazed and even more impressed. I got into a bluefish blitz in September 2017 and landed a 6 and 8 pound tailor and a 12 pound gator with the Noeby in the color mullet, while 3 other guys casting with their much more expensive topwaters never hooked up and hardly got an hits.
Noeby's bottle neck popper I'm a big fan of too. Really launches with excellent popping.

Curious about a few things: 1) the length of your St. Croix? 2) I have a 7'6" MHF inshore rod paired with a 6000 Shimano sw reel - would this be a decent set up for a first timer visiting family in Greenport and looking to sneak out the back door for some fishing around that area of the North Fork? No plans to hit the surf on the south shore just yet, but would this set up pass muster? Or about how long a rod do you think I could get away with on that 6000 size reel?

if you are looking for a insane Sandeel imitation you should check out the Savage gear - Sandeel lure, i've had insane fishing on this lure here in sweden. We are landbase fishing just like you but for sea run brown trout up to 10 Kilos (22 pounds). Tight lines!

The evict in nice but the handle on the 5000 is metal and way cold in December

@@brianharding5618 So they're going to wait until the bass are decimated? Makes no sense. I'm only 15 and I realize the severity of the situation. I stopped fishing with some of my friends because they were keeping legal fish. Unfortunately the "legal" standard isn't enough.
They are going wait till the comms and for hires to say when the popuation is overfished. Puts the fat kid in charge of the snack cabinet. They should immediately at the very least give stripers gamefish status.

What we NEED is a quicker release!! Consider this fisherman, when the fish is ought a the water he can't breathe!! How long can you hold your breath?
There... use yer pliers and try not to take em out of the water at all. Of course that won't be possible all the time, cuz it's fishing BUT we gotta try cuz if it dies after it's released we lose a fish without even a filet! A complete waste and he only got caught once. Be fast, be gentle. Tight lines everyone🎣🎣

I just bought a St. Croix Mojo Surf rod 10”6 and wanted to know what reels would you suggest ? I have a Shimano baitrunner 8000d and a Shimano bait runner 8000d thunnus.....would they work fine ? What other reel would you suggest ?

You could use a bobber or make sure your line is tights and put your finger on the line so you can feel the bite.

Abdallah Chefchaouni I would say Tsunami is your best best. I broke 3 mojo’s right above the reel seat. Triumph is ok but bit soft and thick at the tip. I’ve had it for few years now.

Bud , you need to respect your catch and handle them better when out of the water .
He seems like he’s handling them pretty well.The shortest amount of time there out of the water is better for them.Sometimes you probably have to be a little aggressive.
Bashing them off rocks , while landing them and then throwing them back hitting rocks on the way , leaving them liable to scales dislodging and infection etc . It is not all about the least amount of time out of the water .
