It calculates to your average fuel usage tho. So if you've been fuel saving all race short shifting etc. Then it's calculates what fuels needed for you to carry on driving in that style. If you come out the pits then and drive full tilt, you will run out of fuel.
I am not finding this to be true. I've been testing this at the WTC 700 LM race. And the results are the same for every car. And every fuel map strategy. I'm gonna be trying some other races to eliminate more variables. All of them if I can. But if it is based on average fuel consumption, than there are other variables effecting this, and how it calculates your average fuel consumption, against remaining laps.
this is good for those who didn't know, but it isn't 100% accurate. It is good as an indicator of what is needed, but don't be surprised if you have fuel left at the end, or still run out.
good idea, marker can be wrong if you fuel saved for the period up to the pits, if you then boot it for the rest of the race, you will not have enough fuel
using this video as an example just add half a tank of fuel going past the diamond indicator. for me, l would rather have too much fuel by a lap than to run out of fuel..... 2cents 28jan2028.dellthecomputer
There's one catch.... the "diamond" is based on how you have used fuel up to pitstop and assumes same driving style after.... Where this comes into play is when you are fuel saving (ie short shift and fuel maps) and you want to push the last stint (make up time) better have overfill the fuel to do this effectively (but for the extra pit time).... 🤔
I played with this during daily race c daytona, If I filled to the diamond on the bar, I had to fuel save to make it to the line at the end. I ended up going down the route of over fueling one lap and I did not have to worry about fuel saving. I did lose a little extra time in the pit but made up for it on track and more. Worked for me racing in DR B, may not work for everyone.
It averages how much fuel you've used so far. So if you've been fuel saving, it'll assume that's the way you're going to drive to the end of the race. If you hit the diamond whilst refuelling and then go hell for leather in the subsequent laps, you'll inevitably run out of fuel.
Have discovered that a few months after starting to play but this doesn't help in time limited races.... and if you're switching around your fuel map (which not many players seem to do also) or mess up your laps for some reason you could end up dry as well, so for me it is a good indicator but i always go a bit beyond to be on the safe side.
Oh my, I never knew about this! Thanks a lot mate, this will definately come to use, not having to do any more mathematical arythmatics and missing apexes or completely binning it while at it 😂 Much appreciated!
I have the answer. I have tried six different cars. Fuel maps 2, 4, 5 and 6. All at La Sarthe WTC 700 and the results are always the same. Regardless of the fuel map setting. Regardless of whether I change it before the start line, or after. Regardless of the car. And, regardless of how many laps are remaining...... The diamond indicator always recommends a full fuel load at each pitstop. Probably why I never noticed this indicator. WTC 700LM fuel consumption is set so stupidly high to force pitstops in a 30 minute race, that this test case clearly show that the diamond indicator is set to function based on a car running fuel map 1. This is likely true for every track. Though I might do some testing at other tracks. I might try some custom races. Maybe a good two hour race at La Sarthe in different cars to see how much difference it makes, and how off it will be running different fuel map strategies. Be this test, I think, clearly shows that it is based solely on fuel map one. Because even the super fuel efficient Redbull Jr. At PP 700, and running fuel map 1, which you can run for 7 laps at La Sarthe, and still finish the race, with pitting in... When I do, to change tires compulsory, and to check the fuel indicator. Still says suggests full fuel load.
I will also try a # of laps race, instead of a timed race. Because the uncertain number of laps remaining..... With different cars achieving different numbers of laps in a given time period, may be screwing with the math for tbe indicator, and thus the only good answer is full fuel load.
I've always thought knew about this I always fill just over the diamond just to be on the safe side but it's still tight Top video again mate 10k soon come 👌
Hello all I did in flip fuel in to 2 got to my and didn’t pit for fuel or tires got my stop done and still had enough to finish with if the race was longer I might have considered fuel but it was not
Can't believe the amount of ppl didn't know about this 😂 it was there in GTS too 😂 they could and should have updated that and more with thr "spec 2" update
The little dot is a lie, on races where you fuel save. The fuel amount on that bar is based on the average use you made per lap to that point. If you are running lower fuel mixtures and short shifting can cause problems. If you fill to the dot and go out on a burner, when you were short shifting and fuel mapping in the first stint, you will find yourself out of fuel.
But at least if you know about the dot, you know where to fuel too, at the very least to get you round driving the same way. If you know you have been saving, then you know that you need to go beyond the diamond. Either way, the Diamond is serving a helpful purpose.👍
The actual fuel usage still depends on your fuel map, revs, and gear choices, so I always put a little bit more than the indicator
Yep, always add that little bit more as the indicator is based (as it says) on your cruising speed.
Im a die hard gran turismo fan since the 1st series....
I DID NOT KNOW THIS
You my friend, were not alone! 😅

I always drive full tilt, so the diamond is always my friend 😅

Yeah I always go a smidge past as I'd rather have a little fuel left than run out or have to save 😅

This comment and explanation needs to be higher.
Good point mate! I always drive flat out so it's always fine for me 😅
it's the same as the range fuel mileage in your car, if you drive it harder the range drops.
It averages how much fuel
you've used so far.

When I figured this out it was a game changer. Ended too many races with 1 laps worth of fuel haha.
Thanks for the tip!!
This is very helpful. I did not know this, thank you!!
Good bit of info never noticed that
Did not know that, hah. 😮 thanks for the tip!
I totally learned this from your live stream!
I've been playing this since the first Gran Turismo. I JUST noticed this last weekend. Bizarre.
👍😅
Never seen it before... That would be a great help... Thanks
Never fill to the diamond if pit earlier then 5 laps you will run out if you don't fuel save for last lap. Go just past the dimonod if u pit b4 5 laps
lol hahahaha I had no idea :D Thank you :D
Oh my, I never knew about this!

Happy to help! 👍
Good content ❤
hell fire!! never noticed this either.. I am today years old... TY DEDB!
Did not know this . Thank you.
Nice one skirt wearing boy! I noticed this at Daytona for the first time. Never noticed the indicator before lol
Great tip!!!! Is there a certain wheel and pedals you would recommend?
Fanatec DD Pro with V3 Pedals would by recommendation if you have the budget for it!
Great tip, cheers!
Glad it was helpful!
My wife knew about this she knows everything about Diamonds
She has expensive tastes Gary!
I am surprised that any A+ driver didn't know about the diamond, not that it is always accurate though
A+ just means you are pretty quick.... but might not be very observant 😅
Good man Del 👍
Cheers Wolf mate!
I wonder if it changes based on what fuel map your currently using.

Omg Flash look what you have done 😭, nice video deadeye.
Thanks 😅
Finally getting the hang of your accent. Love from USA
Haha nice one mate 😅
Seriously, this has been there since GT Sport… though it’s not 100% accurate and can change if you cross the finish line in the pits…
Hello all I did in flip fuel in to 2 got to my and didn’t pit for fuel or tires got my stop done and still had enough to finish with if the race was longer I might have considered fuel but it was not
Every day's a school day, Thanks del, like deployed
Thanks Robert mate! 🙏
i cant belive you havent noticed this after how many hours played.....?
another top video 😀😀 we know someone who could use this info 😂😂
