- I'm Raxxanterax and I make Build Guides, Leveling Guides, Tier Lists and More for Diablo 4, Last Epoch, Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2. Nightmare Dungeons in Diablo 4 have always been one of the best ways to farm experience in endgame and that continues in Season 4 and beyond. With a lot of recent patches and changes we went through to test which tier is really the best depending on your level and power of your build.

Lol
Came here to say exactly this lol you know we in for some MATH
Is the first thing I noticed too.
🤣🤣🤣
The events are godly in dungeons… from what I’ve seen just one cursed shrine or chest basically doubles the xp u get from a nmd
I agree.
I used to cringe when I found a cursed chest/shrine. Now I cheer.
Yeah, I've been having the same experience here. I still avoid the events with guys, defend this, follow the spirit, but shrines and chests I'm clicking them all. It's easily an extra level when you're below 90.
@@DeanMurphyCDMdon’t worry when you’re 100 you’ll be back thinking the same
You can watch the exp bar increase rather quickly during a cursed chest or shrine event. I LOVE them, and they're a good reason to clear a dungeon instead of speed run.
I took a shot at Diablo IV when it came to Game Pass as I was not willing to pay like $69 for a game that got mixed review in the beginning.
Now season 4 is when I started a new Minion Necro . I'm now at level 75 as a casual player who plays like 2-3 hours every other day for about two weeks now.
I'm now also in for the Nightmare Dungeons, because I had to first finish the campaign and wanted to hear the story. So that took most of the time in that 2 weeks.
Must say I really enjoy Diablo IV at the moment even if I don't understand everything as I did in Diablo III.
So thank you Raxx for this information, now I know exactly what level to grind 🙂
It’s like you literally read my mind this is exactly the stage I’m at (as a returning casual player) and I’m kinda lost on NDs. Thanks for this, subbed for more 🤙🏻
P.S. as a casual player i can confirm we too are able to find the events lol. The game has a map it’s not hard 😂
Yes always click the healing wells too since they can be cursed too spawning a bunch of free exp :D
@@adriansula8579 oh good tip, thanks!
raxx, thank you for your videos. your content makes the community better as a whole, spending time to crunch numbers for regular folks like us to know what’s optimal is extremely helpful. i look forward to your videos every day
This entire season, I was leveling so fast that I instead focused on Glyph EXP. Even blasting high tiers going for glphy exp, I barely got all glyphs to 21 just after reaching level 100.
yeah, I think the real purpose for NMD is powerleveling Glyphs to 15/21 anyway. Maximizing leveling speed doesn't seem to matter that much when Glyph is the limiting step, as far as NMD goes. If you end up needing to do extra NMDs after maxing out anyway instead of doing other activities that may provide better yield such as loot or Pit for MW materials.
@@David-hw9si Same here. The XP is just an added bonus but running as high NMD levels as I could survive was simply to get my glyph levels to 21 ASAP;)
This community is so lucky to have Raxx
Events are nuts for exp. Anyone saying otherwise just doesn't know. Corrupted shrine on some maps spawns basically the same amount of mobs as the entire rest of the dungeon.
That feel when you see 20/5 waves killed lol
You need to be able to kill all the mobs quickly so another group spawns, depending on build it can be insane or just okay if you don't do a ton of AOE damage. My frost orb build is absolutely nutty I can do 20+ waves although I'm 100 now so it doesn't matter anymore
Thank you and the maxroll crew for doing the work so I can just enjoy the game.
Also if you run NM 46+ you get 925 gear no matter what level you are. I did this for the gear from level 75 anyway but that's good to know I was already doing most efficient.
this is really good to know and i think everyone needs to see this.
41+ for 925 ip gear. 46 is when you start getting the obol chest for completing the dungeon
@@pwnmclovin1 Everyone should read patch notes for season, not fish for random comments in yt d4 vid section.
@@pwnmclovin1 patch notes exists. Anyone can read them.
@@Sknerus89 sure but letting people know isn't a bad thing
I saw another video of you talking about nightmare dungeons, didn't believe it until I tried it for myself. Holy crap. I flew from 90 to 100 in like an hour. Not even pushing high levels. Just cruising through them as fast as I could at like 45-48 tier. The events are insanely powerful for xp especially if you can wipe them all as they spawn. You can clear like 20 waves before the timer runs out.
The quest to open the Pit is to complete a Tier 46 ND. I've been doing helltides as you want that season rep anyway, and you get Whispers at the same time for extra xp. Then once I hit rep cap, I do ND for Glyph xp till lvl 15. I'll try keeping up the ND to finish lvling next time, extra Glyph lvls!
Thanks for taking the time to do this - this is awesome info
I like this video raxx. Im normally lvl 100 way before my glyphs are 21. Especially this season I had 7 glyphs to take to 21. That being said because of that I race to 100 NMD’s for the glyph exp. Just what I do. With so many obols I save them for torment to get ancestral armor right the go and put aspects on right away so at level 55 i can start fighting guys 20-30 levels ahead of me. This season changed alot of things alot of which I love. Somethings need to be changed but I dont know who to talk to cuz Ideas but no one to express them too
Why do NMD have a separate level number to them? Why do NMD lvl 46 have lvl 100 monsters? Why don't we just call it NMD lvl 100?
Fr. Too much mental gymnastics just to run a fucking dungeon.
Yah lol. I think it's the tier plus 54 gives you the level. Like why? Couldn't agree with you more.
Raxx you are the man, thank you again for quality info, I didnt know the whole -44 level stuff, always wondered what level monsters would be in the dungeons.
My question is about the pit. Is it the same rule with greater rifts from D3 where you just do the highest you can clear in 5 minutes or less?
In my opinion, yes. You want to maximize your materials gained per minute
Agreed. I kept going till I hit a brick wall on the boss ( which was level 63 for me). Now I'm just doing level 60's and farming for better gear before I master work anything
In D3 it's 2min or less and i kinda go with the same in D4 on my sorc its currently 31 to get the mats and on my barb 61 so i get the mats + max amount of legendaries/obols, i think lower then 2min is rarely possible and longer just gives less rewards overall but it depends in your class/build if you need the 60+ mats and can only do those in 5min then yeah go for it but otherwise lowest amount of time is better imo
I looked for this everywhere thanks! Perfectly explained Emden better with data. Subscribed.
We took a new character to WT4, at level 5 he joined me on a tier 65 nmd and by the end of the dungeon he was level 53. It was insane hearing the level up chime as fast as it did
How was he level 5 after having someone carry him through 2 capstone dungeons?
@@Smokeyxz something is fishy here
@@Smokeyxz Either the story is BS, or the person only added them to the group/brought them into the dungeon when the person carrying was already at the boss.
@@Smokeyxz Rush ignoring most of the mobs
I usually shoot for 11 levels ahead, in case I level up mid dungeon
At lvl 70 or so I’ve been taking my characters into lvl 95 nms I want my drops to be 925 and honestly it slows me down an extra min per dungeon
@@Da5kone001 But monster of lvl 100, always drop 925 as of this season. Sorry, havent done NMD in a while now, ain't 95 NMD a monster lvl like idk, 145? lol You're overshotting ;)
@@Sknerus89 level 95 monsters always drop ilvl 925, im saying from about 70 on im always farming nmd with 95-105lvl monsters
I was gonna say it must be monster level cause how you blasting a 95 nm with a character under a hundred lol
@@Rancid_Ninja There are builds out there that can blast NMD 95s while being under level 100. My level 80 was blasting Tier 89s with no real problems. And now to think of it, it might be because its easier to hit armor cap, and there are some op tempers that dont have level restrictions.
Yesterday I saw Raxx clear the first capstone dungeon with a lvl 1 sorc, which had some tempered gear. crazy stuff
Good to know. Just it would be perfect if you write in description of row values into column A.
Nice, what about optimizing glyph xp? Same rules or...?
Kinda funny this season I accidentally did option 2 on all my characters after level 50 or so as a side effect of wanting to get guaranteed 925 item power gear earlier on
Im a little surprised glyph xp isnt part of the conversation. Ive been spamming NM dungeons since i hit wt4 and am level 95 with 2 glyphs to max out still. Frankly, leveling xp isnt even a concern since glyph xp is the real bottleneck.
Glyph xp still goes up for higher nm levels, and that's the main reason im doing them so less glyph xp per run means more runs over all. So if i can blast on a higher level i will only for more glyph xp at once
Yo Raxx, what about glyph xp? Would it be sufficient to level your glyphs just by leveling up your char from 50 to 100?
I try to find the sweet spot for character XP, Glyph XP and at higher NMDs you also get the chest that gives orbols
Love the paint videos, maybe think about buying a drawing pad with a pecil or something, you might enjoy it
THANKS RAXX this is exactly what people need for next week...anniversary xp boost next week....GET THEM TO 100
Which dungeon events we talkin about? Not the events in the extra rooms, right?
I did basically this but my build ruled so i kept going higher and higher so i could level my glyphs at the same time ( which I feel is also an important part of the leveling process). I wasnt going any slower per se and once i holit 100, i just started doing the best glyph leveling dungeons and kept on trucking. I think i ended up at dungeon level 70ish by the time i got all my gluphs leveled to 21.
For the dungeon events: does xp change whether or not you complete the mastery objective? I usually do complete it but sometimes not 😂
Thanks a lot raxx for the tips & guides :)
One noob question though, what about Glyph XP? what is the optimal NMD to level them up fast to 21?
The only reason I run NMD is glyph exp, and if I could get that some other way, I would. The most boring activity ever, and it has to be done every season because they don't change the glyph XP mechanic. And the only reason to do it is if you want to beat Lilith again, or one of the other bosses.
I would love to see the mechanic changed, get rid of paragon boards altogether and make levels more beefy in what you gain on stats. The boards end up as make-work for something to do. If levels gave you the stats, along with gear, the boards would be unnecessary.
That helps, thank you.
I don't totally agree. You should run the highest you can that doesn't slow you down. I was running 80's - 90's keys because the glyph xp was outstanding. LVL 46 glyph xp sucks. I was using a s tier build though so I could clear it just as quick. This is the first season I have had all my glyphs that I use to 21 long before hitting 100, because I didn't follow this "rule."
Dosent the pit give u more once you have access ofc?
So if youre level 100 and just doing glyph runs, tier 46 would be best?
thanks i needed this video for my druid
Does anybody know: would there be similar math for leveling glyphs? That's my focus right now with NMD, and I've been doing 45+ levels above me. I could get through them faster at a lower level.
How does this effect glyph xp? Is it worth it to run higher dungen because we get more glyph xp?
I was just looking at your barb speed run few hours ago and was wondering which NMD are the yuckiest so I can avoid them
does this apply to your glyph xp in these dungeons?
you are a goldmine of information , thanks :)
i usually aim for 20-30 levels ahead. Get good XP that way.
There is one thing not considered in this video: if I can fly through tier 80, why would I miss those glyph exp and run 46? If you play an underpowered build, sure that’s what you should do to max character exp. If you play meta build, you don’t have to follow this at all.
Whats the longest Berserk duration people have gotten?
When someone says the reason that a group of people can’t do something and it doesn’t make sense to someone knowledgeable about the subject it’s because that’s the reason why that person couldn’t do that thing. The old “thou doth protest to much”. lol
Are there any XP breaks like this for glyphs?
My issues have been what's the optimal way to transition from leveling to endgame build around level 50. For context I was using the Barb double swing leveling build, and want to try the bash build. It is a slog when you don't have the unique aspect and try to rotate ND. Any thoughts? Should I stick with the leveling build until WT4?
If your build sucks for running NMDs, I think leveling up with the Helltide boss (with other players for the XP bonus) is the way to go, and you get a good amount of loot along the way so you can get your aspects. Then transition to running NMDs.
I love those events
Hi. Is Lvl 100 max pit in Nightmare dungeon.
goddamn rax i'm sorry but ain't no way you're catching me doing nmd46 at 91 lol. Might as weel say that it will take a whole day to level up glyphs. im speedrunning to 100s asap. Most builds should easily clear nmd100 at 91 with no problems
super useful info ty
Bless you Raxx!
Seeing as lv150 mobs are ezcakes now compared to the pit I'd say do 90-100 nm dungeons level glyphs fast
Do 3 greater affixes drop on nm dungeon 46?
Am i crazy or does resetting masterworking still cost 5 million i thought they knocked it down to 2.5
On the sigil it will tell you the moster lvls
Casuals don’t know the layout of nightmare duengons so they should in theory get lost more and find the events
But this ignores glyph XP. If your build destroys everything why on earth not run higher? I run since I am level 70 or so and 66 so 20 higher. If everything dies 1 shot it really doedn't matter. Ok the boss takes like 10 hits... Still worth the glyph XP.
Ty
You don’t address clear speed vs exp or glyph exp vs clear speed.
i'm chilling through 75's at level 90 with pulverize, scratching my balls, i think i'm just peachy xD
What about glyph xp
Good video thank you
You are the man!
But it is much more Glyph XP. That's why I'm nearly finished with my glyphs @ level 85.
or just plug which ever NMD key you got and stop worrying if its gonna take you 8 hour or 8 hours and 30 minutes to hit 100
ty raxx
Easier to just add 54 to the tier level to get the monster level
I was bladting thru with em 30-40 levels higher 😂
Elon Musk is definitely watching this
TIL Raxx also watches Hikaru videos. Or the algorithm threw him a curveball.
Nightmare dungeons suck so badly that I levelled up all my glyphs and I was so bored of it that after reaching lv100, I uninstalled the game. Its a non-sense game with no soul. Haven't grouped a single time, no trades, no pvped...Also tried 10 Pit runs but my gear from lv75-85 was already set up so only needed the shako and was not worthy the time...I will go back to D3 for S32...
Agreed. I've played 3 seasons and I stopped playing after doing a bunch of NMDs to level my glyphs. That's when I think, "Why am I doing this? It's so boring."
We live in an age were streamers tell us how to play videogames, madness.
Players mistake casual for stupid. Which is ignorant
HO levels!
Thanks for the video Raxx. NMD are dog shyte, it doesn’t matter how much exp and glyph exp you get. The fact that you can only level the said glyphs in NMD is really poor game design. The objectives are dumb and boring, the back tracking is atrocious. I get that the D3 crowd really enjoy the D3 2.0 grind, where the grind is why they like it, I just wish the game was fun like this new helltides but NMD is just dog shyte. People like what they like, but to me this game is going nowhere.
Well, no thx. I level glyphs on nmd 100. Nm 46 is a joke

Am I the only one who really hates sigil levels? It's so stupid that I have to calculate it with such a weird number. Anyone can calculate +10 in a second, but -44?
Why not just have the sigil levels correspond to monster levels and make it easy for everyone. Who cares if they don't start at level 1? Such a weird decision by Blizzard imo.
The only thing I don't like is the sigil crafting system. Wish I could be more specific with the tier. I'm ok with the random dungeons.
Yeah let me choose the exact tier, make the UI not terrible.
Then allow me to 'prefer' a single positive affix, and 'dislike' a single negative one. I'm getting the idea from Rocket League matchmaking, they let you choose a loose association of arenas to like/dislike

I find NM dungeons to give more than enough EXP and only do NM dungeons with +20% Glyph xp because I find it to be the biggest grind to get your glyphs to 21.
Casuals can’t find the events? The events casually find me!
I do higher nmd’s for the higher amount of glyph xp
44 tip is godly. Cheers.
I think they need to change how and or where you get glyph exp!!!
What about glyph XP? Is there a cap to the glyph XP or bonus for certain levels?
Excellent. The only problem i have with running low NMDs is the abysmal glyph xp they give.
I think a paradigm shift is in order here. It's much quicker to level a character than to level glyphs now. Would glyph leveling follow a similar formula?
This is focused on experience and leveling but I think the sooner you can do mlvl 100 the sooner you can get guaranteed 925 gear. Feels like another wrinkle to the “if your build sucks” bucket.
I appreciate the work and the testing. Once you hit 100 and the focus is on glyph leveling is there an optimal number you should shoot for above 100?
I'm just a casual player that logs on after the kids go to bed. This is SO helpful. I changed what I was running after seeing this. Now the dungeons are less of a grind and more fun getting those glyphs leveled. I hope I get to try out more endgame this season.
does this also apply to leveling up paragon glyphs as well, or would it be better pushing as high as possible for glyph leveling purposes?
If you can, shouldnt you do higher lvl 100 for better loot and glyph experience? Seems like glyph experience still scales higher even if monster experience doesnt...
If your build can handle running higher tier NMDs at the same speed, you absolutely should run them. The rules discussed in this video apply to character leveling and XP.
