All has changed. It used to be Junior Technician in the RAF, pretty well paid and usually not too many secondary duties. However the rank has gone now as it was, probably so they can pay less? Much depended on where you were stationed? I worked a lot with FAA, Leading Hands too whilst a Cpl and Sgt, as one of our Sqn's was one third Navy and their "Killick" "Leading Seaman" rank seemed pretty good. At least on an RAF station.
I have to say Sergeant is the best rank in the RAF, or at least it was during my service, it was the first rank that carried some weight of authority, you could be more forthright with senior noncommissioned officers, even up to junior engineering officers who were commissioned but new absolutely nothing when practical matters arose, they were obviously very intelligent and well trained academically but not practically, being a Sgt also meant that you didn’t get Dicked for all the carp jobs that came up, but the best thing was being allowed into the Senior noncommissioned and Warrant Officers Mess, something that even the Station Commander could do without invitation, the bar prices were great compared to other ranks social gathering places on and off base, the Christmas prize draw, the summer ball, Christmas ball and all the other functions like dining in/out nights and more besides those, the only drawback was paying mess fees and buying formal Mess Dress and miniature medals, very expensive. P.S Of course I would say Sgt…………. I was one, I don’t disagree with @john8131, Junior Tech was when you actually noticed the pay rise and you were seen as an experienced professional and could, to an extent, make decisions that maybe a Cpl would normally make, you still got Dicked for the Sh1t jobs but not so often, Cpl was a good rank but it was always the rank where you were, more or less, marking time until you got your third up (promotion to Sgt).
@@johnp8131I had left the mob just as the rank structure was changing, and changed for the worse, and I think your right on target 🎯 with saying it was a cost saving matter and not in response to the changing number of female personnel who joined up and didn’t like the term Air-craftsman, a slur to some, but they were being addressed as Aircrafts-woman, didn’t see the issue myself, but I am sure I would have been labelled as a misogynist.
Chief Technician in the RAF is only applicable to the technical trades, the rank doesn’t exist in trades such as supply, administration or security they go from Sergeant directly to Flight Sergeant, in the technical trades you go from Sergeant to Chief Technician and then up to Flight Sergeant.
Firstly, gentlefolk. There is no rank called 'Conductor', in the armed forces. The correct title is 'Warrant Officer Class 1 Bandmaster. Otherwise known as 'God', in the musical sphere. Unless of course, there is a Director of music (normally a Captain or Major). Then they are called God of God's. Their white stick of unimaginable power (baton), holds powers that defy believe. Wonderful comments. Faugh-a-Ballagh
What is the best rank in the British Armed Forces?
And at the very top CinC Woke and Non-Binary Policy HQ.

Sapper , close the thread !
Anywhere except the top or bottom. That way when it goes wrong there is always someone else to blame.

JT as well!
@@JohnSmith-ei2pz They still have Chief Technicians but the rank of Junior Technician disappeared almost 20 years ago.
@@mrjockt Wow, times change! Next you will tell me there are no apprentices & Swinderby has gone?
Think you'll find Conductor is the Senior WO1 Rank in the Army........
Not since 2015. Army Sergeant Major is currently the highest-ranking warrant officer.
Additionally, I think you'll find Conductor is an appointment and not a rank - that is WO1

Italian armed forces please
For me I think the RN and Royal Marines are basically superior naval forces
How come ?
Your graphics are a little out of date as they show the Queen's crown which has been replaced with the King's crown.
Sorry, I just can't listen to an AI voice, it really makes the video unwatchable and no effort has gone into its production.
No problem.
