The scam of making people replace roofs that have another 10 year life left in them is borderline criminal. What a racket they have going on here. Then you barely still get a reasonable insurance rate but then some still tell you, oh we aren't insuring homes built before 2000. It's a huge headache and maybe not worth it anymore.

Florida politicians don’t want to talk about the insurance crisis. When a state has to get into the insurance business (Citizens Insurance) because so many private insurance companies are fleeing the state, that’s an insurance crisis.

Moved to Florida when I was 2. 35 now. Thinking about heading out finally. I love Florida. Great weather. Lots to do. Beautiful nature. But, way too expensive. I don’t want to have a mortgage and have to pay $500-800 a month just to insure the place. Ridiculous.

just move to another part of FLORIDA.
You dont need to move to a massive metro area. Strip malls are a Florida thing. You will see TJMAXX , Ross, Publix , Pet store, Starbucks, and Urgent Care every 2 miles.
If you move to a "Great Value" state you will get that. They have no clue what is a concrete block, or a building code. its just 🏠paper + glue (siding + some faux bricks)
POPULAR states are popular for a reason. and "Great value states = you get what you pay for.

Insurance and tax on a home are both high all admit but moving here from Arkansas that was covered simply by not having state tax.
I will note I purchased before the increase of housing cost so I did get in a bit cheaper than today's prices but I am and I higher property tax area too so that it is a bit of a negative...
But Arkansas compared to Florida absolutely nothing in Arkansas would take me back there! South Carolina is a bit better but no.

Category 4 & 5 hurricanes are now the norm. They were basically unheard of years ago. Ridiculous home insurance rates that can increase 100/200/300% upon renewal are common because of these monster hurricanes. Oh, and the politics has become regressive and toxic. Why do they hate North Carolina so much now? I think this country is becoming very segmented. If you move to a rural cheap kind of place, there are people there who call the shots and don't like outsiders. Neo conservatism. If you don't share their exact outlook, they will shun you and harass you and try to make you leave. It is hard to move to any new place and fit in probably. Everyone is very competitive. If you are in one spot, moving is a huge expense just for a change of pace. She wishes she could have her old expensive house back.

Got drug down to Florida when I was 12 and I'm in my late 50s now and have hated every minute of this wretched state. The climate is just nuts with the heat and humidity (I do love the rain though and I've lived through some direct hits from some major hurricanes and no, don't like the 'canes, but it's not my main reason for wanting to leave) sick of all the illegals and their crime, sick of the good ole boy corruption, sick of the cost of living that leaves the average person here a hairs width of groveling in the street at any given time. And now there's all those from New York and california flooding down here bringing their ignorant liberal politics with them. The area I've lived in is being destroyed by needless construction, the noobs running over the blue harens, and other native wildlife with no regard, the serious increase is wrecks ... No one in their right mind should want to live in this hell hole. Most of my life has been wasted here but I'm finally doing what I can to get out. I will make sure to grab the flag as I go ...oh and save the 'fine good riddance' or whatever, I don't give af what you think.

People are so dramatic. 🎭🙄 outside job placement in another state,........ there is no need to haul your furniture to South Carolina
Location convience: Florida is the home of the strip malls. your favorite store and Publix will be nearby --> Amazon delivers, Uber/Door dash delivers , internet is available and your Iphone will work = in a smaller cities + towns in the state.
You can get the same deals in Florida. "up South" those homes are 'matchbox houses'. paper thin frames with siding.... 🐺🌪a wolf can huff + puff and blow it down. 👉you are not getting a $$deal. Concrete blocks are used in Florida...
CHEAP PRICE = CHEAP HOMES: Im just saying . States like GA with no building codes.. 🏡🏠criminal break into the sidings ... because the front door is the strongest part of the house. its trash building codes. You are getting mobile home quality with faux bricks
