Two of the most delightful people in the industry talking music, synths and video games for 2 hours? Just what the doctor ordered 😉 I could seriously just listen to you two having a casual conversation for hours on end. Best episode yet i think 👏
This (and all your content) was quiet lovely to watch. There's riots/looting/teargas in my neighborhood happening right now, with a backdrop of pandemic. Thanks for providing some good-ole-fashioned-clean-friendly-fun to distract from things far outside my control. Now it's time to put the headphones on, switch on my case, and bleep these hours away behind closed doors.
Thank you - I appreciate things are crazy but do please consider donating and supporting those causes though! We mustn't ignore what's going on. Really good 'how to help' page here: blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/
@@mylarmelodies Right on. My tone landed a bit off there. My votes and wallet will continue to support the causes and candidates promoting treating black people as actual people and overhaul of police accountability and liability. I just can't back the violent elements in these causes. In my neighborhood, most of the businesses looted and destroyed were small, black-owned local shops. Yesterday marked a step backward for any positive change and they weren't the work of false-flag groups (despite that positively happening elsewhere, even in my particular city). It's heartbreaking... but it's morning here, and my neighbors need a hand and a friend to help them cleaning up the remnants of their livelihoods and our neighborhood... so I'm off again.
Another great episode, thanks! And also thank you for reminding me that it had been far too long since the last time I listened to Underworld. Had to pause the episode half way through to blast Cowgirl. EVERYTHINGEVERYTHINGEVERYTHINGEVERYTHING
How appropriate. Should take delivery of a Doepfer LC9 case this week from SignalsoundsUK. I've built a wooden rack to house it above my RackBrute 6U and MiniBrute 2S. Can't bleepin' wait having watched you and Gaz. Looking for ideas to fill it.
Hello. I have just noticed the multi-tiered desk thing you have behind you is the solution to space problems with owning too many synths but only having a small room. Is that custom made or purchased from somewhere?
I have been working with a Pico III, a couple of Pico DRUM2 modules, and a Pico Trig. With my DFAM to get to an Analog groove box. My goal is a mini Erica Techno System. I have only had it up a week, I am still figuring it out. So far I like it.
I'm happy to report your dream of a screenless sequencer that can handle infinite tracks of infinite length is pretty much already a reality. Check out the Synthstrom Deluge. It's an absolute monster of a sequencer that also happens to have a great sampler, looper and groove ox as well. I had the exact same dream of going screen less and it delivers in spades. It even displays waveforms on the pads 😍
It's just a bit of wood, with some strings! Gaz is a treasure. Really nice words about elektron gear (of which I own many). Makes me feel like I'm sitting on a gold mine, abating the gear lust quite a bit. 🍻 Gonna go check out some Kraftwerk now.
very cool conversation of two wonderful personalities, always a pleasure to listen to. but i wish to contradict alex´s evaluation of the dreadbox design and have the strong feeling to break a lance for yannis and dimitra who are doing a phantastic job giving their characterful machines a unique formfactor. for sure they go the risk that the design doesn´t appeal to everyone and yeah as a matter of fact dicussions on design are subjective and personal case. so, if dimitra is reading here...i love the dreadbox machines especially because of their design. i have the nyx and the erebus and i enjoy their interface everytime i am playig with them ;-)
Amen to that, it's absolutely just a subjective taste thing - which is to say for the avoidance of doubt there's absolutely nothing 'wrong' with their design, and the machines sound awesome too, and are super reasonably priced. 👍
@@mylarmelodies hi alex, thanks for replying. totally d´accord. ....by the way, i bought the arturia drumbrute impact and the keystep just because of your demonstrations. especially your impact session was totally freaking ACE. please keep up the excellent work. cheers from germany. herb
Analog "grooveboxes": Soma Pulsar-23. May be a bit limited with voice count, but does so much more than be a drum machine. DSI Tempest. I've heard entire songs built using the voices of this synth. Elektron Analog Four, Analog Rytm. Basically, I think that an analog groovebox would be marketed and sold as a drum machine first and foremost.
I totally agree with you about the panel aesthetics. I would otherwise buy MakeNoise modules, (Maths), Noise Engineering, and those brown and gold Scottish modules. To my honest detriment. And replacement panels usually go black emo. Dammit.
I hope there will be a follow up chat at some point now that Gaz has taken the plunge into Eurorack. The perspectives of a noob, especially one so "expressive" as Gaz would be most insightful. On a related note, I was stunned to learn that Gaz cannot slap bass!
I bet Gaz can chat....bet you had a brilliant day but can see you maybe had 5 hours of footage to cut😂😂😂Good good good stuff. Thanks. (Good job you had good ssd lol)
Ahh Gaz.... A wonderful example of a good human. Loved this one so much.

Two of the first youtubers that got me excited about synths.
Ive met Gaz...I have a feeling he is the bringer of parties and non of which end before 4am😉 world needs more Gaz's💗🙌🍻 Thanks Alex!
You are correct! 🤪

just found you the other day and have learned FUCKLOADS. Thanks dude! Also Gaz knows so much absolute gold. Cheers!
I just love Gaz, always a pleasure to hear and see him talking.
Great to hear the Gaz stories, font of all knowledge he is...surprised no one mentioned The Deluge.
Best intro ad you definitely won’t want to skip! Listening to rest now :)
These podcast are freaking amazing, just discovered and love Gaz! Peace from Sweden!! ;-)
I desperately want to know about this mysterious time-bending drummer. The way you described it made me so curious. I love this episode!

Awesome episode. Love the little fireside chat style anecdotal tangents.
Thanks Rob!
That was really good, subed.

eric.ostlund oh, not to mention it only costs like the equivalent of 84HP of modular.
OH! I could not get your dusting brush here in LA, but found a close match in a 4" paint brush. Changed my life mate! Dust Free.
Dude. Would love to hear why Duncan Trussel bleep’s!!
Analog 4 is probably the closest thing to an analogue groovebox
Adam Bienkov I’ve never really messed with one! Need to.
Adam Bienkov yea A4 classic groove box
@@TerekkiTerekki and with the double VCO option the Analog Rhythm can function as one as well to an extent.
Adam Bienkov mfb tanzbar?
Tempest, isn't the Manther also analogue?

😘
Have you checked out the Tangible Waves AE Modular?
Can you do another 10 episodes with Gaz
Didn’t realise that John Hurt was doing music gear podcasts? 😉👍🏻
The 'comma and dot' thing on YT. O.M.G. Why did I not know about this?!! There's a few videos I need to check out :D
yeah that was worth it
Alien Isolation's soundtrack actually took the Bafta for Audio Achievement.

Seeing Alex put the Tom’s Diner-Nick B circle together - 💚
In the words of Mr. Partridge "Lovely stuff".

Good call. Suddenly I'm thinking of the Dave Smith Tempest as well!

not gonna lie, love that late 70s sci-fi aesthetic too
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssss

A Moog Groovebox! Can we have one of those for iOS please? Gaz, now that Endless is done, can that be your next project?
Behringer also uses sweatshop labor to keep costs down. You know, the sweatshops with the suicide nets?
Come for the bleep, stay for the Signal Sounds intro
Is there an uncut version?
Nah always a bit edited although there is the podcast version you can take with you - and loads more episodes!!
Man machine changed my life.
Some lovely words on Kraftwerk
Killer Hoover sound on Doot!

the guys from Air said they will only buy gear with red displays
DSI Tempest is an analog groovebox.
Leploop: the realest analogue groovebox!
"Goat's piss into gasoline." :D
😎
Ill back Gaz up .. that Freur LP is great. Its somewhat difficult to fiind in decent shape (vinyl of course)
Just started watching. If Gaz mentions clagnut at least once I'm switching this video off.
Wonder how many people ended doing comma and dot straight away like me?😂
Analog groovebox? LEPLOOP!
Analogue groovebox? Analog Four would be top of my list...
Anyone figure out which drummer they're talking about around 40:45 ?
Yussef Dayes! See description
mylarmelodies Thank you! Enjoyed the talk 👍
Gaz the legend :D
MIDI BASS yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“I molt all over my studio” 😂
I do it too...hence not having hair anymore and having to invest in a studio brush 😩
Signal sounds Bat shit crazy 😂😂😂😂 Aleks wins
I bet Gaz can chat....bet you had a brilliant day but can see you maybe had 5 hours of footage to cut😂😂😂Good good good stuff. Thanks. (Good job you had good ssd lol)
Also correct - cut about two hours out!!
@@mylarmelodies no wonder it took so long to come out lol...but bet one of many many fun...well always fun days with Gaz😁🍻🙌
There's a place on the darkweb where you can buy all the spicy out-takes from this interview.
HEY!! stop fiddlin with the mans Analog Heat Knobs. You never touch another mans levels. i dont know why but its triggerin me, lol . great interview!
comma dot !
as much as I love your podcasts, you and the guests you invite, but often I'd just wish for you to stop talking and let your guests talk more...
Workin on that as I get better at doing this - see later podcasts...
