- Blue Lock Season 2 may have had one of the biggest comebacks we've seen in anime. Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 13 and 14 absolutely shook the anime community, but is the finale enough to make up for this whole season. Lets talk about Blue Lock vs U-20, Itoshi Rin vs Itoshi Sae, and the Isagi goal that took over the entire internet in Fall Anime 2024.

You're actually right. The animators were rushed and had way more movement in their drafts but the head of the company cut those scenes out to save time and money.
I feel bad for them, they tried their best but all we did is just make fun of them
@@cemalgordonjr Don't feel bad, call out things and stand up for the over worked underpaid animators. We're not fighting the animators, we're fighting the management team.
Also, the animators are paid minimum wage, so they weren't the most experienced and weren't rewarded properly for trying hard.
Not saying they didn't work hard, but if you want to have your employees working overtime, you better reward them enough, or they will naturally lose the will to do a good job, and if you want someone to work really fast, you better hire the most experienced professionals you can, what would also cost more.
unralated but hopefully this doesnt inspire most studio to get lazy and just make the last episode the actual good one bc they think can just get away with it
@@cemalgordonjrme casually defending the anime animators the whole time
I'm not apologizing. We should've given it low ratings so they know not to rush animation ever again.
I agree with you. The only thing consistent in this anime is png and english essay semester 5 diploma.
@FnMadsuby that's crazy work lmaooo
And season 1 was amazing even with some sloppy animations. They set up the expectations based on what they could give in season 1, but didn't deliver well (overall) in season 2
Its not they were rushed, the lead of the show left, the lead of episode nagi left. There were barely any animators. And they were forced to make episodes FROM SCRATCH, there was no template or drawn example.
I gave it a 2. It is the lowest rating that I gave out. They decapitated the anime.
Even as a slideshow, I looked forward to every episode. Was still hype asf
Thankyou!!
Glazer
Same, the voice actors and the music carried it big time!
kinda glaze but unironically reading the manga for this arc a couple years ago is still one of my favorite pieces of fiction of all time so i get it
@@gh0sT2018 Shut up. You can have ur opinion. And it was hype
Blue lock animation is that one classmates where they are never in class but only showing up on exam and ace it but instead of moving forward its getting setback
becuase he failed the other exams
“The art saves the animation” is such a good way to say it. Story too but hells yes. Absolutely. And the choreography from the manga carries the lack of movement so hard it’s crazy.
Only good story is ok for manga, but for anime it gotta be both story and animation💯
@@Dr._Bo yeah fully agree
so basically what the manga readers have said... the manga readers already got the art, got the story, got everything that you say is good... and when we see the anime its just a downgrade
manga readers watch the anime because they want to see what they read to come to life... THAT IS THE JOB OF THE STUDIO and they fumbled their job and did pretty decent on the last episode, but in reality every other studio would have had the last episode quality at the bare minimum on every episode.
like we can use demon slayer as an example, demon slayer is actually not that well written, its simple and straight to the point with all their arc so its entertaining, but the studio who has demon slayer made the story literally come to life so much so that noone talks about the story, noone complains about any of the very real shortcomings...
@ very real. I’ve always made the joke that the manga art has more movement than the animation does. But it’s just true.
the art saves the ANIMATION? It's an anime, the ANIMATION has to save it not the other way around. Why do people try so much to excuse the bad episodes? Sure the last one was good but it's not a good season by no means.
Nagi’s goal: Okay, that’s pretty good.
Shidou’s Big bang drive: Damn, that’s awesome.
Isagi’s last goal: WHAT THE F*******************
ISagi’s goal wasn’t that sick. It sae vs rin leading up to it made it sick
@@jae3276 both... both is good
@@jae3276 oh no no I’m talking animation-wise
@@jae3276 the entire anime was leading up to that single goal
Shidou goal was the best part you got it mixed up.
I don't want Blue Lock S3 until May of 2026. I'm hoping that's enough time to get final ep of s2 level animation
Shit I dint want it till October 2026 can't lie. I hope they start working on it by April or May 2025 till October or September 2026
wait till 27 at this point if you want that level of animation, it would be very expensive to get many top notch animators to do sequences like that, it took Frieren 2 years of active pruduction to have that level of animation with many many top notch animators that are known in the field, 8bit isn't madhouse or Mappa that have deeper pockets and more reputation to pull something like that off, but tbh its mostly the comitee's fault not the studio, the studio could pull this off if the comitee wants to pay for it xd.
It's not enough. S2 finale level for every episode is almost impossible. You'd need few years of production time.
Episode 10, 11, 13, and 14 were straight peak. Nagi's goal was also amazing
Nah still PNG Lock on those e episode tho
@@MichaelDelfin0 fr, can't apologize to the managers when they failed so hard at their job; majority of the season ended up sliding images.
@@MichaelDelfin0at this point you're just forcing the hate
@@lyrioolyricc not really. ep 10, 11, and 12 had a bunch of pngs, and ep 13 still had a good bit, even small parts of 14 had png. If you're really that blind it'd be easy to make a video of it. That being said I love blue lock and the anime but you can't try to defend it like that. They got rushed and it's the producer to blame, but we can't deny the frame locks still present
Iitterally every anime has some still frames. But blue lock gets all the hate because of the first episodes
ngl I've never seen or heard of an anime making a comeback like this but this was freaking generational ong bro the final matchup got me shedding a tear
@KrillionBeats it didn't make a comeback because of its animation tho.
@@RemedyEverythingit actually did make a comeback, cuz they ended the final episode perfectly
@Drin792 what I'm basically saying is the whole season was good. It's not like 1 episode made the whole anime. The anime was always good
@RemedyEverything Yeah, the first 5 episodes were bad in terms of animation.
But the last one was fire
@Drin792 the animation wasn't so bad that the last episode "saved the anime" the story and pacing was beautiful enough that we can't just give credit to two last episodes saying "this is what saved the anime" that's false. The whole season was good from start to finish regardless of some minor animation tweaks.
I'm glad i didn't just respond to the thumbnail and actually watched the video. You hit the nail on the head. The last 2 episodes were a great finish to the season but did not redeem the season. They fumbled heavily, and the only reason people have "Stockholm syndromed" themselves into praising it is because the art was nice, and it still managed to be very hype. But it doesn't deserve any kind of apology. They should be apologizing to us for putting out a season of a soccer anime where less than half of the actual kicks are animated. As a whole, this season was passable at best, and the producers should be held accountable.
I feel like even though the beginning and the middle was kinda bad the feeling the last two episodes gave us was like being starved and then after what feels like eternity finally being fed
If they do a DVD release with better animation then we can talk because the last episodes being decent don't redeem the season at all.
at this point, my expectations were already so low for blue lock, and as one video i watched said, its better to rate the episodes one by one than rating the whole season together, because man you gotta give credit where credit is absolutely due
reminder a few episodes ago people were celebrating we actually got running animation in s2
The art was not nice, it was INCREDIBLE.. cant say the same to the animation tho 😋
I gotta say the way the animators got done dirty , they did the best they could've done in this situation
Ngl producers be wanting that stack of cash quick and that's all
@@moai367 They wanna only do it for the money and play safe , if they risked it and delayed it, they could've done PRETTY earnings of money , it would be JJK SEASON 2 level of fame too
Thank god someone speaking facts! Everyone was so hyped over the last episode and completely forgot it should have been like this the entire 2nd season. Oh man we missed out
As a football fan I have a love hate relationship with Blue Lock.
Samee
@@AlyssaZhu-ri4sdI don't really view it as football not fully atleast cusw football won't have shit like demon wings forming on the backs of people. Once u understand its based of football but isn't like our football u will enjoy it way more
The animators got screwed over from budget cuts, not getting enough time, and bs higher-up's that don't care about the art and employee quality of life. I'm impressed they were even able to get this out. I can't begin to describe how important it is when an anime has the best animation in the last episode. Usually they use the best in the first episodes. Frieren did a simmiler trick to get a lot of respect. Yes Frieren. The animators and directors did us a solid and tried to compensate for the higher-up's bs. Yes, they went out of the way to try and fix the mess their employers made for you, so you could get a better show. I can't begin to describe the bs those animaters go throw every day to make anime for you. 90+ hour work weeks, not getting payed enough, only being freelancers, having to work with oversea companies, and much more. We can forgive them, in fact we should be saying thank you. Overall, I hope they green light the next season and the higher-ups don't mess it up for a second time.
I think it that mentality they have to work together with their coworkers even when screwed over when they should've just not done it and got the production to cave in to their demands, don't blame the animators and directors who quit
they really said "if we can't animate this well, we'll just make it look damn good"
NGL The final episode lowkey felt like a slap in the face to me. You could have been giving me this level of animation the whole time but wanted to rush. Then said Hey we heard y'all complaining so we just want to show y'all what it could have been. I still watched everyone episode week in week out. I hope more anime in general stop dropping the ball when it comes to things. I feel like in recent years we have gotten more and more 1st season bangers just for them to drop the ball in some way moving forward. Stop trying to make a banger anime season and make a banger anime
I get you but I think it goes like this. It's not that they say "Hey, let us show you what we can do this entire time", but more like, "This is all we got given the limitations"
What I mean to say is that due to the production being fucked and the committee being the irl version of the JFU greedy bastards at blue lock. They have no choice but to sacrifice.
You know that one typical anime episode that gets good animation towards the climax? Imagine that but for an entire season. I'm speaking as an animator here. I knew they would clutch the final eps but the damage has been done unfortunately.
If this manga is shit, I wouldn't be as mad. But Blue Lock is so good, it hurts to see the potential.
The future of blue lock can go both ways. But for now, I'll take the last 2 eps as apology
even without the crap producers, it's not suuper realistic to get that kind of quality for every episode. sure it's not impossible, but it would require a lot more from the animators, which 9 times outta 10 they won't have much more to give after suffering more lashes from they bosses to make the deadlines
@@pazzthebassgod Im not saying that every episode should look like this, I know and I have been there. Let's celebrate what this episode has set up for the future of blue lock but the previous eps still hurts a little bit
@@pazzthebassgodI don't expect every episode to look like this but definitely be better than what we got through out this season and have more moments looking like that yk. Like the way naruto would have decent moments but then would turn up intermittently for the hype scenes
Tell me about it! They should have taken their time. That goal has stuck with me for 2 reasons, 1. It was so good, I was holding my breathe, my heart was pounding, I was on edge, that was possibly the ONLY anime moment I’ve had to rewatch cuz it was so good. If the whole season was that I’d have probably gone into cardiac arrest at one point cuz there’s so many moments in BL that grab you, but they ruined them with crappy animation. And 2, cuz the rest of the show could have been that but wasn’t even have as good or as exciting as it should have been. It felt like we were robbed. I was so excited for the BL anime, thinking it would be animated like Haikyuu, with love, but instead we got the power point presentation where people go from running to standing still all so a character can monologue mid game. It was so bad I got my friend who loves horrible things to join me in watching it. I wish they had taken their time instead of insulting the medium.
The flow state is real, but of course a lot different then shown in the anime. Just the feeling that you can see everything/think clearer/time seems to go slower/etc.
Can happen when you so concentrated that everything goes easier. It can happen in every moment of life. Personally it happens sometimes during playing sports. But especially when i was doing tests in school. Where there was like 30 min where I remembered a lot (or atleast I thought at the moment) where I could think clearer and answer the questions faster and changed answers that I wasn’t sure about before
You work fast man
Another top tier video it seems
I gotta step up my game now too
Nah i wont apologise for a mid season that only has a couple good episodes out of the best arc so far in blue lock. Good episodes at the end only leave a better aftertaste does not redeem all the other flaws. Agree with you on this after watching.
I mean its our fault for making them rush on the episode 😢
@ we did not
I think you meant bitter
I thought all of the under 20 eps were good.
Ngl it kinda scares me how quick these fans are quick to say the season was amazing because THE FINAL episode was animated good. They were fed garbage for the entire season that a speck of something good makes it seem worth it.
I really enjoyed all of the under 20 match yes could of been better but it definitely wasn’t bad and was more than acceptable.
Agreed@@8minato
lemme say it now as a person whos caught up with the manga, yall are NOT READY for phase 2 of blue lock
prince vegeta motivation actually goated tho 😭🙏
I can only hope that season 3 pops off so hard. My Blue Rose King. Voiced by the God of the New World himself. Kaiser... show me why Itoshi Sae gave up on being a Striker!!!
It honestly sucks that they cut so much animation from the finale cut. This final episode shows what quality we could’ve gotten, but with this change of pace my confidence is placed in the Neo Egoist League
Yeah, I'd rather wait 5 years than get another frame lock and they'll put the budget in the final 2 episodes again to "satisfy" the audience
@@rhiel1728 you can wait however many years , if they chose to do nagi movie 2 1 year before s3 you're still cooked

dawg you funny af 😂😂
Isagi's goal from different angles was awesome and i felt that too
LOL real on that thumbnail and also ye its sad about what happend to s2.. but last ep was a masterpiece so i forgive them dude like i predicted that the last episode was gonna be good and IT was. just had to shed some tears of joy
I ain't gonna apologize for the low budget animations they did at the beginning, poor quality=poor reviews, simple. Now that they gave us such a CINEMATIC ep and depicted the emotions youll feel reading the manga itself, you can say they deserve our praise good quality= good reviews
I wouldn’t call this a “comeback”. If you got an F on all your assignments the entire semester, then get a 100 on the final, you still fail the class (this analogy assumes the final isn’t the only thing that actually factors into your grade)
The season as a whole was just a major disappointment, and one peak episode isn’t enough to make up for messing up what many fans say is the best arc. The studio really fumbled the bag, and I question whether or not they’ve learned their lesson from this catastrophe.
This has to be one of the greatest comebacks
They cooked with this season’s animation and they gave us food poisoning
I never joined the hate train but the hate is deserved considering they had a tight schedule but they insist on focusing on the art and add unnecessary shading that makes it hard and takes more time to animate, the season 1 art was fine enough but they're trying to fix something that isn't broke, the last episode just shows that they'd have time to animate fluid movement if they just simplified the art
?? no the higher ups restricted the amount of time they even had..
@@Maroz4106 it's not (and shouldn't be) the audiences problem, as a studio they have to take responsibility on their product. At this point that just sounded like an excuse to normalize the flop

4:52 to be fair tho, U20 teams irl do allow a couple players older than 20 to play for the squad
Homeboy is supposed to be 19 😭
@TheGrossDemon nahhh bro looks like he already got a wife and kids and a mortgage 😭😭😭
It’s cuz they made their characters relatable and that’s what people wanted to see

they animated4 episodes and now we apologizin for the entire season?
Hold your L
Drop the money for them to reanimate the first few episodes bro
Dumb ass the directors rushed them and that's what we got for the first 9 episodes the last 4 episodes is what we could have gotten hence why we're apologizing for hating
Epically for the itoshi Brothers fight.
@@Themonkeyshark Nah! hating is necessary (to the right people of course) so that the animation company learns its lessons. Just like how Sonic fans bullied Sega with the Sonic movies. The Sonic script, sound, and acting were good. Everything was good but the animation, until the necessary changes was made. And now we have a solid trilogy that everyone loves
@@jankyyard5610 I agree but some mfs just be hating to hate for no reason
Blue Lock animators can absolutely cook and if some of the shots from season one aren't enough to prove that, then the last episode of season two should be. The art, voice acting, music, how faithfully they're adapting the manga, the openings and endings, etc are too good. It's not that Blue Lock needs a new studio. We need better management and less budget and schedule cuts.
9:29 "atleast for now"
me, a manga reader: I AM THE KING OF ADAPTABILITY!!!

The color effect, and aura are to make it cool and voice acting, music and characters are to make it emotional and the animation is to make it an anime and the power system which is called THE FLOW that’s a real life existing thing so that to make it realistic😅
Manga reader here. I PRAY they get their shit together for the Neo-Egoist Arc.

Gotta bring the manga reactions back man. Blue Lock manga is peak.
They said “either take and use your imagination or all 3D” 😂
Hell no. They lowered our expectations so low they're in hell and now everyones hyped because they actually animated something. We cannot normalize this garbage tactic
I didn't even really notice the animation. The story is great and the art is superb.
if yall not gonna apologize and stay hating, just know that it was never the animators fault and it has always been the fault of the scheduling of the production team. almost feel like most of u assume that the team did not give a crap about the animation and just gave it to the finale, and saying that "it doesn't deserve an apology, they need to "learn" to produce a season in a more appropriate schedule". main point is that you do need to apologize to blue lock, specifically its animators. you cant apologize just because the whole season is downright bad? atleast have some respect to the animators who actually gave a damn about the anime and apologize to them. they r the victims here and if you still gonna hate, then you dont got any respect for them, and its as if you can any better.
I am not gonna apologize for a bad product. I can acknowledge animators doing their very best with tight scheduling and unsupportive industry, but a bad product is still a bad product. And we always blame the leader in the company anyway (in this case it's the production team) so I can hate all I want. In fact, I would argue that hating Blue Lock S2 is very necessary so that they learn their lessons...just like how Sonic fans bullied Sega for the movies.
@@jankyyard5610 hate all of u want but if u say u acknowledge the animators then it's fine by me. it will feel like that the only thing respectable about the whole season was the animators efforts
Blue Lock pulled a Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc and thought we wouldn't notice
I love oliver aiku and how he potrays a defender mind and feeling, playing as a center back (defender) back in the days.
The feeling of shutting down strikers and wingers, especially those that is really good. Hearing and seeing their frustration/desperation is like a fuel to keep pushing till the end of the game.
Blue lock thrives on football emotion and mind of the game. Hence why, i didnt realise the powerpoint animation until i saw a youtube video pointing out on it. 😂😂😂😂. But do hope for more animation like 13 and 14. To get non football fan to tune in.
If only they know how hard art is, learn to be grateful for the hard work they put into the anime❤
I don’t gotta apologize I never lost faith
this is a very valid take💯
we just witnessed the biggest clap back in anime history
If the entire season looked as good as the last 2 episodes, it would’ve broken the internet
This goes down to history of anime
from what i heard is that they only had 8 months to produce the season which anime normally have 1 year - 1.5 years production time so they were hella rushed. a lot of extra frames were cut out bc it would take to long to fully animate. they were really rushing this prolly bc of the hype around the next arc in the manga really bringing a lot of hype
11:09 bro bro was still hoping too
But anyways, all I gotta say is..1. for me, it's giving me better hope for next season, and 2. atleast it wasn't as garbage as Seven Deadly Frames. A story you can barely keep up with, animation that made some characters look like roblox avatars, that's why despite blue lock being high key PNG for majority of season 2, I can still appreciate they put some effort into the other things and delivered(somewhat) when they needed to. (Im still salty about the meliodas vs escanor fight.)
that cold food anology was spot on lmao
So ONE good episode is enough to justify the bad animation of an entire season? Apologize for what? Having standards and not expecting a powerpoint presentation every single episode?
NBAH WE GUD THIS IS TYPE ANIMATION THE WHOLE SEASOM SHOULD VE GOT
Keep it pushing your content is great!
This man is gonna go bonkers in the next arc for the new character bcs even I can't explain it
If you haven't read the manga- Isagi is about to crash out hard. In the best way possible. It builds up a bit, and the chapter it happens is one of the most hype I've ever read
The animators finally unlocked their flow while making the final episodes
8:05 You know I happened to see this image as a leak before watching episode 13 and thought why tf is rin looking like this! Wasn't he a chill guy ?
I’m telling you this show is not sports anime this shot gets even crazier on the manga
We need a movie recap of this season, where they redo the animation to acceptable levels. It will give them time for the manga to get further away as well
EPISODE 14 WAS INSANE, IT WAS PEAK, THE ANIMATORS ARE GOATED
Those producers don't care about the fans supporting the anime, they only see us as cash cow.
From what I’ve heard is that instead of focusing on the quality they focused only on the animation and used a style called "kagenashi" which directly translates to "without shadows" in Japanese; it's a style that minimizes shading and relies on flat colors, creating a very simple and clean aesthetic.
Bro, Mr. Ego is the producer, this is all according to his design... this will be the level of animation going forward
I havent read the manga, so I enjoy any seasons we get. Keep blue lock coming
to be fair I started growing hair out of my body (face) at 9 grade I was 14/15 so being 19 with facial hair isnt far fetched at all
I ain’t gon lie. I waited to binge watch S2 after binging S1(WHAT A RIDE THAT WAS), and ALLL I heard on the net was it was a slideshow, and trash…
Binged it 2 days ago…STRAIGHT🔥🔥🔥!!! And the last 2 episodes were chefs kiss!

They had to work on 2 anime’s and the fact that they actually made animation but were forced to cut it out because BUDGET and NAGI movie
As someone who plays football all the blue lick stuff is real and i do it too.
at episode 3 of Blue Lock I commented about it, and I'm right about it!!! My comment is "Let's trust them guys, maybe they're preparing to use the budget for Rin's Tongue movement"😂 'course I knew that it wasn't about the budget rather because of time constraint but yeah hahahahahahhaha
Deadass tho? Nobody and their mama can’t say Blue Lock was carried by animation. The content was so raw that I enjoyed watching it from beginning to end.
Just because the last episode had good animation, doesn't excuse the rest of the season being a powerpoint presentation

bro the thing is maybe they were facing budget issues due to which they were making such make shift adjustments into the earlier 12 episodes in order to atleast present us with some thing to watch and gamble upon the last 13 and 14 episodes and they freaking delivered . who cares what could have been what should have been these episodes delivered bachira's cgi monster dribbling , rin 's snapping moments they were entirely picking their pace up from the 13th episode only , seeing the episodes objectively by themselves and that week where these 2 episodes have been released has been truly an lung screaming experience for me and not the last 7 minutes only . the entire 40 minutes of pure dopamine hit was something else in this season 2 . season 3 has been set up properly and time has been given to them and they will deliver so please see these episodes by them and then judge not see this anime season as a whole as it mars the enjoyment of the enjoyers the last episodes paid off ten fold just stay content with it sometimes studios dont have unlimited currency breathing like demon slayers and this season was an example of that where they took a gamble and gave us a FUCKING MAHORAGA Vs SUKUNA of football in blue lock. just stay hyped and stay optimistic for season 3
proud to say i never gave up on bluelock lmao
why hate on aiku being old when there's that doberman guy 🙌
aiku is the best man throughout the whole anime...
Blue lock to me has always been borderline between reality and fantasy when it comes to the sports aspect, it has football elements sure but it's not based on rl football other than the rules and some stuff. This reminds me of knb and inazuma eleven both series I watched and enjoyed that had a lot of fantastical elements despite it being labelled as a sports anime.
I think I get why I enjoyed s2 of blue lock despite its shitty animation, it was as you've pointed out: the art. The art saved the animation, thank you creative directors for that or whoever it is that is part of that. Blue lock should take like more than a year so that they can make a great s3, animation team looks like they're reliable to give life to this. I'm hoping they take more time to get it done so we can get the best animation for it, here's to a great s3. I'll wait as long as possible for a great animation the whole nel arc deserves.
