- With a new month, comes a bunch of announcements in the first week - and in just about 10 days time, we're getting a revival of another cartoon classic in the form of Woody Woodpecker! Now this movie, is actually a sequel believe it or not. I didn't know anyone who's seen it before, so perhaps it's a fresh new start. On the tropey American tale of camp hijinks, let's see if this can follow the greats of Sonic or Chip and Dale, or be yet another IP reboot with little going for it except running into the ground, the photorealistic, with real humans to the side... ground. Whether you love the guy, or find his laugh endlessly annoying, Surprise! ...Netflix Are Making Woody Woodpecker a Thing...
Uploads constantly! - bit.ly/2OxDh1w

...Were you aware of the first film? Or a big fan of Woody Woodpecker? Does a project like this excite, or wish you never knew him in the first place? - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
I'm Brazilian, the Woody Woodpecker It's different in the outside world, including the country of origin in which it was released. Here in Brazil, this bird is still very popular in our childhoods, to this day it still shows old episodes of Biruta until New Show in 1999. So much so that the 2017 film was only released in cinemas here in Brazil, as it is very popular, now with this sequence and having Buzz Buzzard and Wally Walrus it is a happiness for us
For gringos: when he says "biruta", he means 1940-1943 encarnation of Woody.
Woody Woodpecker did have recently gain new cartoons that were viewed online. So honestly those were popular enough to make this movie happen.
If only this movie had Miss Meanie… Then the Trio would have been complete.
Miss Meanie was iconic though
Miss Meanie is dope
Yeah, and I'm pretty sure we'ren't even in the 2020 show
Maybe she will make a post credit cameo in a post credit scene
I feel like it would be too easy not to put her in as a cameo at least. Besides her, we also need Andy Panda and Chilly Willy.
I remember this one guy REALLY liked the live action Woody Woodpecker and was mad when Netflix removed it for a while. No clue where he is now but I'd expect him to be happy wherever he is....
I was one of those people then I rewatched it years later yeah it’s pretty bad
I used to like it so much, so that might’ve been me
Same here, I liked the movie. Yes it's kinda bad to me now, but it's still a movie I would watch lol.
HELL YEAH, DAZZ IS TALKING ABOUT WOODY WOODPECKER!
Speaking as a diehard fan of Woody, I’m very excited for the flim. Even if it’s probably gonna average at best, that’s downright glorious when compared to the first. Especially with the addition of Wally and Buzz, it gives me far more hope for this movie.
Whaaat? I thought they were just going to add the movie that already exists on Netflix. I didn't know they were making something else
It seems Woody Woodpecker is going down the Alvin and the Chipmunks route - make in live-action, have an anemic plot, crass humour, and made only to please a niche audience. I understand Woody Woodpecker (Pica Pau) is still popular in Brazil, for the rest of us, there is little to offer besides novelty, an identical experience to the Alvin and the Chipmunks films.
Or Woody Woodpecker could probably be like what happened to Garfield where there was two live action movies, one of them featuring Bill Murray, and then a fully animated one that is coming out after nearly 20 years since those films came out. So basically it’s that one Yu-Gi-Oh card where the person chooses two different paths.
I have no clue why, but I always associated Woody Woodpecker with the restaurant chain Red Robins
Same. That bird mascot was promoted alot more back in the day.
The gags in the trailer look more cartoony than the 1st movie. I hope it keeps that energy
Is anyone even nostalgic for Woody? He's not exactly on the same level as Mickey and Bugs, or even Popeye and Mighty Mouse (or even the Smurfs and the Chipmunks for that matter).
He's great in the OG shorts and the 1999 cartoon, but I hated the 2017 movie.
i'm from Brazil, and to my knowledge many people in here seem to know him. i've watched a ton of his cartoons at a very young age, he is a pretty iconic character imo, i genuinely feel like i might start getting nostalgic about this silly bird in a few years down the road.
He is super big in Brazil, his cartoons are still airing up here to this day (what can I say he is a cute fun lil guy)
@@yurineri2227 still can't believe they've allowed him to say "VAI PRO INFERNO!!!" back then LMFAO what a menace
for those who don't get it, it translates to "GO TO HELL!!!"
@kaxcommentssomethingREAL that's really interesting! I think the only person I can think of who likes (or liked) Woody here was David Lynch lol
Did you know there´s a Top Cat animated movie? It was made in Mexico/Argentina in 2011.
While that movie doesn't really fit well with the real Top Cat series, it was actually pretty good as a standalone movie! (Edit: "Top Cat Begins", btw)
Tom Kenny and Kevin Micheal Richardson are actually returning from the TH-cam Flash animated Woody Woodpecker shorts that have been in production since the movie came out. The designs are lifted straight from it too.
This could either be great or terrible.....
Given how the Woody Woodpecker Movie went in 2017, I certainly say so.
☹
I remember people saying the first one was terrible.
No, I gotta disagree. It has the potential to be painfully average.
@@confuzedduk1008 oh yeah. I forgot that option lol
I just finished the sequel and I know you probably won't love it, but it is an improvement from the last film. It may not be the greatest film ever, but it does do somethings that we're not as obvious and does have more heartfelt moments so he sure isn't as sadistic as last time.
The only place woody woodpecker had a real impact was Brazil, a public tv channel got the rights to broadcast ALL of Woody's cartoons ever, so every sunday you had an hour of woody woodpecker from the 50's to the 2000's remake, nothing like it aired on public TV, so Brazil was a pretty privileged place for it to air.
So much so, that the first movie was made to be a best-seller... in Brazil, they put a famous brazilian actress for the mom role, and mixed some tropes from movies loved in Brazil but half-forgotten in the US.
99% of this almost dead franchise is made to be exported to Brazil, because we're the only ones who remember it fondly lol
In Brazil, Woody Woodpecker is so big that it is basically a cultural heritage, every person you see knows the cartoon, there are memes everywhere, people have even memorized the episodes and the iconic phrases from the dubbing
It's like what the Simpsons became in Argentina.
I mean when you see the bird becoming a cult classic in his home country thanks to one person who used memes to resurrect his spotlight, I think there's a slight problem with where this is going when you have a currator and a literal fish introducing the shorts alongside a rabbit and a sailor.
As proof that they will greenlight almost anything...Animated Ghostbusters are ALSO coming to Netflix.
Wait for real?
Dude I am not complaining about that because that is a win
I am a woody fan, but I honestly would have prefered a new animeted show over another randow live action movie 😅
I would take a movie.
@@evanholloway1692 Tthat's cool, different strokes for different folks :)
2:44 also his eyes are a bit smaller in the camp sequel so I was just complaining about that from start to finish and the only thing I liked about this movie was buzz the buzzard like he was the only good character
It’s nice that they brought back Buzz Buzzard and Wally Walrus for the sequel. It’s too bad that they didn’t get Billy West and Mark Hamill back, though. They should’ve brought back Ms. Meany, too.
I oddly enough have been introduced to a lot of older cartoons as a kid in the 2010's via Netflix, including Woody Woodpecker shorts. I loved them a lot and have nostalgic memories of the random 2017 movie. Im a dumpster when it comes to judging movies so im actually excited woody is coming back and the other characters are here ❤
21 seconds ago? Jeez.
I've actually watched it and I thought it was pretty interesting but the series seems fun
I remember people saying the first movie was terrible.
Stop kids from saying stop kids from saying first
It's funny how something like that gets releasing and Coyote vs. Acme doesn't. Until the hopefully success of "The Day The Earth Blew Up", I don't expect Coyote vs. Acme anymore. But to Woody. It seems like Universal listened to the criticism and took a different approach for the sequel, because it doesn't look bad at all.
my only experience with woody woodpecker is this one comic where he works in a candy factory for like, a day, and produces way too many mints, he burns them, it gets in the water, and now the water is vaguely drugs, there's a priest guy who's saying it's the end of the world and is very against the mint drugs, also woody almost(?) goes to jail cuz when he sold off the drugs because he didn't want anything to do with it anymore (it got illegal) they kept his name in/as the brand. Woody was very much just a poor little guy being pushed around in that comic
edit: also he had two kids???
I loved (and to an extent still love) Woody Woodpecker, I loved the old cartoons and the 2000’s show which is my absolute favorite and is kind of the Looney Tunes Show equivalent for the series, I watched the movie when it came out and thought it was mediocre to average, the web series was very bad and I’m not that excited to check out this new series, I feel like as the character became more and more obscure over the years, Universal just went “Hey what’s the one thing that people remember about Woody Woodpecker? His laugh? Well then let’s make that his whole character” anyways I hope the character can make a proper comeback soon
Do you likesthe 1960s era and 1970s era too?
@@user-ni2ee8sm4x Eh they’re find Woody’s personality is a little dull in those but not bad by any means
@@DavidDoodleCartoons Although I’m pretty sure the makers of the cartoon shorts during that era had to tone down the slapstick violence from the earlier cartoons just so that they can appease parental groups who had a large control over the animation industry at that time.
as a kid i watched the cartoons so i was excited to see the movie but when i did it was really bad, so im not really super excited about this because of the last one but using the old characters gives me some hope
Don’t worry, it’s better
@@louieporsche1174 it is
This is def gonna be popular in Brazil
Bro kids these days don’t even know who Woody Woodpecker is. It’s so saddening😭
I watched the movie and... it's a mixed bag. Spoilers if you ever plan to watch this.
Firstly, its clear there was some issues in terms of the animation. I have a feeling it was because of the budget, but Woody and Buzz just don't fit with the environment. When characters interact with them, you can tell the editing is a bit unfinished and there isn't a flow to the chatacters movements sometimes. Also, lots of qUiRky sterotypes. The goth girl, the math kid, the engineering wild card, the gamer gal, the... bird guy? Yeah...
Since you asked, I knew Wood Woodpecker thru his old series as a kid. What was interesting to me was seeing his redesign in the newer episodes, which is what these movies are implementing.
I remember we watched the first Woody Woodpecker movie in our music class once since our music teacher was going on a nostalgia trip.
I did actually watch this one, the other week. I actually quite liked it, its not "spectacular" by any means but its served its purpose
I remember woody woodpecker being the mascot of a mega amusement park in the Tenerife islands !
I’m so glad someone is giving woody the respect he deserves.
“DAMMIT(Insert cartoon character here)! YOU’RE RUINING OUR LIVES WIRH YOUR CARTOONINESS!!!”
I remember watching the movie from 2017 I didn’t really care about if it was good or bad, I just went to watch it cuz it had a cartoon character in it.
As Brazilian, i Love Woody Woodpecker and i'm so excited to this movie
0:26 They used the thrustmaster a320 controls for flight simulator as the control lever that really shows the budget of this film
And don't forget that this is the year of Shadow.
how am I so early to so many popular youtuber videos...
Y...yay...? 😅
Yep! I remember the 2017 movie, and I remember not liking it at all. *Im surprised it made any money, but it was released in Brazil where people love him there.*
3:35 Eric Bauza? You won an Emmy Award for playing Bugs Bunny! Why would you return to this?
He played Woody Woodpecker since the U.S. version of the first movie then the 2018 TH-cam Cartoon.
I honestly don't have much nostalgia for Woody Woodpecker other than the videogame. It was kinda fun.
The 2017 is what you’d expect a cable tv version of the cartoon to be. Made specifically for kids and no one else.
I remember the first woody movie and remembered it being fine enough and the web series being....passable at best. But this movie looks a little low budget and decent budget together which is odd and very odd for some reason seeing Wally in live action. But I think this will be a passable watch and something to turn on in the background.
I did know about the first movie. In fact, I had and still have the DVD. I watched it when I was a kid so of course I thought it was good xD
I actually did know about the og woody woodpecker movie and quite enjoying it. And seeing this one for myself, I think the first is better for me.
They really used a A320 throttle for those levers that they push forward. Lol
Lol I saw that the first time I saw the trailer
i forgot woody woodpecker existed that was fun to watch THERES A MOVIE? I NEEDA SEE
Did you not know about the first Movie?
It had a good Woody Woodpecker design, just not the best plot and felt like a Nick Movie from the late 2010's
I watched the first movie when I was younger, I never expected it to get a sequel really
I wish it was just animated.
Knowing that my cousins saw the Woody Woodpecker movie in 2017 I can safely say that it's BAD. People love Woody here and they just gave us that 💀
wait A NEW ONE RIGHT NOW
I have see a short kids book and nothing else I heard there was a cartoon but I’ve never seen it
Imagine Netflix does a cross over with sega to add him to the mobule games and what not like the angry birds
I honestly really enjoyed the original live action movie
I agree.
The first movie was like a musical.
Then there was this one, a teamwork movie.
I watched the original movie and show and loved it, also just saw this new one and in my opinion it was pretty good.
This is what happens when you let a TH-camr with too much free time on his hands use the power of memes to resurrect the popularity. You end up getting him on the same show as a chicken, a rabbit, some sailor, etc.
I WANT to think it paid off dividens.
I cant wait for it being honest.
I’m only watching cause my friend is in it >< the rest looks baaad…. Ps sorry cc if you’re reading your really good!!!!! You were the best part!
Friend bias is crazy
This movie is gonna be trending in Brazil
For some reason I had assumed Woody Woodpecker was part of Looney Tunes or from an offshoot of it ^^' apparently Tex Avery did do some work for Walter Lantz Production, so it's not entirely off. Though I don't know how much he was involved.
It really looks like a Looney Tunes character, yes. He's like Bugs and Daffy combined
i LOVE the woody woodpecker movie
Am I the only one who’s heard of the original woody woodpecker live action movie and when I say original I mean the first woody woodpecker live action hybrid movie because I watched it. I’m pretty sure that some swearwords and I was happy I’ve also watched the new one. It was good sadly it had no swearwords.
Written by the director of hoodwinked
I liked the movie it was pretty good
I only knew the original movie because my little brother loves watching it, he is 12 but it’s understandable that he’d watch it since he is disabled so yeah I’ve known about woody woodpecker for a while 😂
I remember the original cartoon. Woody was annoying for 10 minutes, did the laugh a few times, rinse and repeat. Nothing great, but I guess that was par for the course for old cartoons
I have no quip so just enjoy your day
Well at least the animation is ok
I saw the movie when it first came out
I personally enjoyed the first one, so I'm optimistic!
I think I have seen this film like 4 or 3 years ago
Ah Netflix... Cancelled decent content, terrible trailers and stuff nobody asked for.
All of Spain will get this guy.
Yaaaaaay!!! MORE TRASH SEQUELS!!!!!
I will be down for this movie if somebody can Tell me if this is connected to the original live action movie.Because unless it is then I'd be way more happy.Because if it isn't that just be dumb and stupid , I mean come on , as long as somebody can tell me that maybe I'd be Tell me if this is connected to the original live action movie. Because unless it is then I'd be way more happy. Because if it isn't that just be dumb and stupid, I mean, come on, as long as somebody can tell me then maybe I'd be happy. But if it isn't thats Just dumb
I remember the first movie And watched it When it came out
Woody is a classic however not for this generation but us older people have a fondness for him
Now where is Coyote vs Acme? If that’s been cancelled again, David Zaslav needs to be fired right now.
I have heard of him
I heard of 2017 I kinda liked it
I remember people saying that the first movie was terrible.
lol the grammar. "Netflix is making"
It has been over half a damn decade since the first movie was released(And it was an okay film), I don't know who even decided to make a sequel to it, nobody but me watched it, and I was like, nine💀.
A lot of people thought this movie was terrible back in 2017.
I watched Woody Woodpecker some when I was a kid, but I have no nostalgia for him and honestly couldn’t care less if this show flops.
My little brother loved the 2017 movie, I hated it and turned on the cartoon version instead whenever he wanted to watch it.
#ReleaseCoyoteVsAcme
This sequle exist because the movie was the number 1 kids movie on netflix kids yeah no joke
And the first movie came back to Netflix, isn’t that great?!
Let woody rest,😭
woah, how am I here so early, the heck?
idk i kinda liked the first one it was cute in a very goofy way but this one looks… very downgraded they could’ve continued the story of the first one but like Netflix does they fucked it up and made a completely different story without even completely resolving the first one 💀
I remember people saying that the first movie was terrible.
@@helpfulplaylists3933 it wasn’t completely terrible like people are saying imo but it definitely wasn’t good but it was very goofy and I’m sure a bunch of 3 year olds like it
@@lil-q-pop4283and that's the reason why people hated it when it originally came out. Because it didn't appeal to audiences older than 3 especially the ones that grew up with the cartoons with their being so many burp and fart jokes in it. It also was a direct to DVD release here in america which made the movie not as successful here as it should have as well as its forgettable b list cast. The movie literally has a 13 percent on rotten tomatoes. I think you just have nostalgic thin glasses with this movie. I doubt this movie is going to be successful.
@@helpfulplaylists3933 yeah i don’t think it’s going to be successful either but the first one like if you’re just looking for a goofy family movie to watch with little kids like i think it’s good in that way but the movie itself is not good and i don’t really have nostalgic thin glasses cause this movie is so bad that it can’t be nostalgic but i just think it’s goofy and it’s fun to make fun of

@@helpfulplaylists3933 so I liked it
I really liked the live-action movie and I still do but this looks generic even for my taste and there are some movies that have aged like milk that I have a soft spot for like Cars 2, Shrek the Third, and most Illumination movies.
...
Unlike Looney Tunes to me Woody's one of those lost archives who wasn't able to make it to modern day, he just died in the 40s and memorialised ever since and honestly besides these few foreign low budget DVD-esque movies which are already controversial within it's small frame of audience would start an uproar publically over community groups, modern media and politics which would only get him cancelled; as much as I would love that I doubt he'll be revived and it's better this way, why revive a politically incorrect mass destructive killer bird when we can watch reruns and watch those old cartoon shorts online - simple
I don't see it working anyway, Lantz capitalised him off what worked for his time like it's WW2 climate, it's jokes about rationing which was clearly a WW2 centered short, his screwball frenzy alone would make little sense in today's market, he can't adapt like Bugs Bunny can because Bugs was designed with a different purpose
