Great video and very helpful. With your personal setup, will you choose to let the UB9000 handle things or will you choose Frame Adapt HDR within its picture mode setting?
Hi, I just saw this video! It is terrific. I had one question: for the HDR settings, do you turn low latency on or leave it off. For SDR you had it on, but for HDR it was left in the off position. Was that intentional? Thanks,
Thank you for watching it. Great eye for catching that. For both SDR and HDR I should turn low latency on. Don’t forget to watch my newest JVC video as it discusses the latest upcoming firmware from JVC
Thanks anyway David. A bit too far away as I am in Australia. 😂. It was more of what settings for jvc so it is bypassed and just the envy doing the processing.
Aha! A fellow Strayan!! I used to live in Perth, WA!! If you want to disable the functionality of the JVC, make sure you do NOT use frame adapt or scene adapt HDR on the JVC and let madVR do the work. I also do calibration in Australia, Indonesia; worldwide, actually.
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted I am also from Perth. If your ever in the neighbourhood would love to have you do a calibration on my NZ8. Only done 50hrs so really enjoying it, particularly after setting with your advise. Sure made a difference. Thanks again.
David, I'm trying to do this all myself on my JVC NZ-7 . I was watching your videos and I'm trying to do what you say and I've read the JVC manual online... It's not really difficult at all to do but I'm not happy with my black levels yet. I'm debating with the 6500vs 7500 Kelvin. I get a nice bump in brightness when I choose 7500 Kelvin too. I definitely like the HDR level at +1. It really brings out the picture and pops! The only thing is I think the projector has a green tint to it. I went to "tint" to try and make it look more white. Even when you see the "DILA" logo when the projector turns on you can see it's not white but green.. I was watching the new "Batman" movie and it looks great but the blacks just aren't there. I am running the lamp on high and I do have a 135 inch screen with 1.1 gain and 16.9 aspect ratio. Any suggestions you might have. I thought I might be able to get OLED black levels but not at the cost of having a very dim picture. I definitely have my theater optimizer on too. I'd appreciate any of your thoughts
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted You're awesome for replying so fast. I'll try and bring the contrast down. Thanks for telling me about the logo. Just bring the main tint level down? They have where you can bring the individual color gains down etc

Great video. Just got my 4100 set up and I’m wondering what I need to do to make it output in 8k? I have 8k e shift on and I’m sending a 4K hdr picture. I was under the impression that it would upconvert.
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted thank you. I went to the info and it shows the resolution at 4K. Will it say that it is output of 8k or does it always say 4K? Thanks again.
I find the Natural is still better than FMM. For some strange reason, FMM adda a slight touch of sharpness enhancements. I ended up not using the FMM and use Natural instead. Also if I remember correctly, FMM doesn’t allow frame adapt HDR.
Perfect. I’ll give these a go. Also gonna pick up a Spyder to do the auto cal. New to the NZ7 as of last week so trying to get the just right look for sdr and hdr. Also use primarily Apple TV and apps TH-cam, TH-cam tv, max, movies anywhere…then an Xbox and a Sony Blu-ray 4k.

I personally no longer use the UB9000 tone mapping as JVC Frame by Frame HDR Adapt is already highly performing.

What settings would you recommend with MadVR Envy Extreme??
Not that I don’t want to help, with madVR it becomes so very complex that I need to be in your room to measure and do the settings

That logo will remain the same colour regardless of your setup. Bring the contrast down to -5 to reduce a lot of the green
