Brad impresses me a lot as a guitarist (and writer). He seems to be able to get at the heart of a lot of roots and even world styles...and still play it with conversational/personal phrases. It's authentic to what it's aimed from, but still sound like him. I used to wonder if he needed like that extra "shred" gear or ran in to technique obstacles when I'd listen to some live recordings from earlier in his life, but then I'd go back and realize he was being pretty economical and smart or clever or in a narrative of sorts. And I think his technique probably did improve in time as I've heard him pull off more and more sophisticated stuff on his instrumental albums. And the whole blues slide old school authenticity is to be envied, as is his ability to find the right types and tones and tricks. He's an artist.
Thanks for the comment. It sure was nice to hear those two guitars together, both without any effects, really simple, there was definitely something magical about that. All the best!
I absolutely love this! Hoping to see doing these interviews with all my favourite Canadian guitarists. Kevin Breit, Mike Rud, Russ Broom, I’m sure there is a bunch of great players you can turn me on to.
Great watch! Love to see Brad improvising with such nice filming / editing from another guitar player. Brad is an excellent guitar teacher too, I can attest to this! Wish I could improvise like that. Working on it. Love what you're doing with the chords in that gypsy tune, Jordan. Looking forward to checking out your music now too!
I look forward to putting out the second part too. We got to talk about so many cool things. I'll let you know if there is a way to contribute eventually, but just checking out the clips, sharing, giving your feedback is awesome. Thanks and all the best!
Go check out The Slip if you like brads playing. Find the live recordings

Fantastic. You guys play beautifully together and it’s nice to hear those vintage arch tops played unadorned.
