Being a Mechanical engineer and a designer in automotive field, I have following observations. I was looking for a family bike for city rides mostly with a flat (horizontal seat), circular headlamp and retro-like + premium design (not like 100-150cc bikes). After exploring lot of bikes, I finalized three options to compare. 1. Honda H'ness 350 CC 2. Royal Enfield Hunter Rebel 350 CC 3. TVS Ronin 225 CC I test drove all 3 vehicles 2-3 times and following are my observations, 1. Honda H'ness 350 CC - *Pros* - Nice retro/classic look, Low end torque is good, Seating space for pillion rider is more than other two vehicles. *Cons* - Bulkier (Box size), Paint quality, Higher cost as compared to other two vehicles 2. Royal Enfield Hunter Rebel 350 CC - *Pros* - Beautiful Design/Styling/Look, Great color schemes, Turning radius is smaller than Ronin (Less space to turn the vehicle), Reasonable cost. *Cons* - The biggest issue (design flaw) is positioning of foot rest (pegs), just below the sitting position. This makes it difficult to keep your feet on ground while you are at signal or in slow moving traffic. Foot rest (pegs) keep touching your legs and is very uncomfortable. Another point is that seat on rear end tapers downward and seating space for pillion rider being less, pillion rider tend to move back and when you accelerate, pillion may feel like toppling/falling down at back side. So this is not safe and hence, back rest is MUST. Handle bar positioned in such a way that you need to keep your hands stretched straight all the times which is not a comfortable sitting posture. Low end torque/performance (2 & 3 gear) is sluggish due to bigger engine. (Not as good as smaller capacity bikes) 3. TVS Ronin 225 CC - *Pros* - Semi-retro look with circular headlamp, Driveability and Performance is superb. Handle bar position is very good for comfortable sitting posture with hands slightly bent in elbows. Very easy to handle in traffic. *Cons* - Very bad design/aesthetics of fuel tank (some odd shape), Color schemes are odd (not impressive), Turning radius is higher than Hunter (Needs larger space to turn the vehicle). Cost is on higher side for lower CC as compared to Hunter (mainly due to features). Overall, none of them is meeting my requirements (as mentioned above) and hence, I decided to wait for Kawasaki W175 or Yamaha XSR or Improved version of Royal Enfield Hunter. All the best! Honestly speaking ronin has upper hand in top speed ,mileage , comfort and features.. and hunter has torquey nature and re fan base .. its all about preferences...both are worthy 🙌
Took a small ride on both motorcycles , I found the ronin was a lot more comfortable and fun to ride than re hunter , although the hunter sounds more powerful due to 350cc engine , but that’s not the case , ronin feels a lot more responsive and is giving better fuel economy as well. I would personally choose Ronin , don’t let the numbers fool you lol.
Also forgot to mention , Ronin is very very comfortable to steer , you always feel in control , the re hunter isn’t bad but definitely could be better with a few updates.
Other than mileage that will directly impact your pockets over time, these 2 bikes differences are just about preferences. You can have either bike and be completely satisfied. RE with more CC is more torquey but still Ronin has a higher top speed. So 225cc engine is not a shortcoming in all cases. I would be happy with either bike. Just that my pocket would be annoyed to spend extra on RE for fuel over time.

I own a ronin , but some good things that hunter offers better than ronin is 1.10mm wider rear tyre 2.bigger 350cc engine with more torque 3.30mm wider rear disc. 4. Bybre branded brakes 5. RE engines are pretty refined and i think they can also give a mileage upto 35 Other than that Pros in Ronin over hunter 350 are: 1. full digital instrument cluster 2. Slipper clutch which really does make a difference 3. Led indicators 4. Front usd folks 5. Full led headlight setup with Drl and light throw is also satisfactory. 6.Metal mudguards ( though some people won't even consider it ) 7. 30mm more ground clearance 8. Mileage is 36 to 40 but depending on city to highway traffic before 1st service . Also cost of all features in Ronin is included in ex-showroom price but in hunter you'll end up paying extra for accessories which will increase your overall cost
RE is great no offense to RE lovers out there but practically speaking this bike is clearly not meant for off-roading even if you are riding in city roads the bike will definitely have issues. But Ronin does it better with great comfort and riding experience 🫶
Ronin is the better pick. Practical bike with all features. Only if you're a RE fan and spend more time n money for maintenance , go for hunter..it may impress others too. May be.

I took test ride of both the bikes. Initially i was inclined towards hunter as i am a huge RE fanboy but seeing the practicality of everything i feel Ronin is best value for money for 95% of consumers who are going to use it as a daily commuter and weekend rides. Top speed 135+ , Glide through traffic feature, very nimble to manuaver in day to day traffic, super comfort , best riding posture , engine refinement , smooth gear box power to weight ratio is better than hunter so in real world it delivers slipper assist clutch Showa USD forks LEDs all around Bass heavy exhaust note and best of all 40+ milage that will pay dividend in long run. In a nutshell Ronin is complete bike whereas Hunter feels like a downgraded 350 classic.

I took test rides of both the motorcycles and Ronin definitely felt much more comfortable and fun to ride than hunter, also gear box is super smooth on Ronin. While riding hunter I felt as if I had to stretch my arms to ride it, I don't know if this is with every RE buke
Request you to discuss fit and finish of both motorcycle’s. The fender and side panels on Re is plastic and Ronin is metal. The gold USD front forks look premium, seats are more supportive, Ronin feels much more premium. 2 abs modes for rain and street. Re hunter is a very confusing motorcycle. Whenever i see the hunter, I feel like buying it but I’m avoiding it since it feels very cheap and like a compromise. Thank you so much for all the effort. Liked And subscribed.
Hunter is only good coz of the name and customisation options. The fit finish and feature list is better for the Ronin. Weight smooth ride better mileage top speed, Ronin does everything better. The seat Comfort is much better on Ronin. Re hunter has everything just ok but the brand name drags it way ahead.

Test rode both today, Ronin ride quality "feels" better and more easy, fun honestly. Ronin parts and components quality also feels better. I understand why someone would want hunter. Going by pictures I wanted hunter more as well.
Agar Ronin ka meter console ka placement hunter ki tarah hota, chain cover simple hota and tail light honda CB 350 RS ki tarah hoti , front me exhaust and engine cover thoda kam bahar ki taraf nikla hua hota to Ronin market crash kar deti.
Being a long stroke engine it doesn't require oil or liquid cooling. I haven't seen any long stroke engine getting overheated unless revved up insanely.
Hunter is Class, I have test drive both bikes RE is next level Pick-up even 2nd or 3rd gear ..Ronin all varients is available in showroom in kanpur but RE hunter is available 45 days advance booking only ...
Actual mein baithneke baad ground clearance measure karo, kyuki company claimed toh ek baat hai lekin dikhne ne dono same lag rahe hai isliye. An also if possible check with person sitting in pillion seat as well
My 5 key observations from the comparison-- 1)Look wise: FRONT & POV-- Ronin SIDE & BACK -- Hunter 2)Performance: Torque -- Hunter Mileage-- Ronin 3)Overall feel of ride quality and exhaust note -- Ronin 4)Pillion comfort-- Ronin 5)Fanbase & Namebase- Hunter Choice is completely subjective to every potential buyer!
You have got to be kidding me with the exhaust note. I dont even like hunter but that exhaust note is waayyy better than ronin. Ronin is not even close. Ronin sounds like a commuter bike.

@@tech9896 yes, that features does not matter actually, also ronin length is small which affects pillion which i don't felt in Hunter( i had ride both). Damdar feeling hunter me aati hai, Tvs looks nice but reality me appeal hunter se kam hai.
Here people more inclined towards ronin bcoz of more features and top end. But they don't know low end torque of an RE which is where actual fun is lies, it's not just about brand but feel, surely u will missed in ronin. Yeh, until now RE has had quality issues but this is a new breed based on j series platform so before criticising we should give them a chance to prove.
Hunter has very less ground clearance. That's the drawback of this two wheeler.. specially for those who are planning to ride it in small cities with lots of speed cutters.. 🙂
One of the worst decision that TVS has taken to only launch Ronin via Super Premium Stores which are only available in metro cities. 200cc bike shouldn't fall under super premium category, if they want to fight against RE then they also have to work on their network like RE. If not mistaken then Ronin was launched in Goa and many reviewers were invited but yet you cant find any single TVS Store in Goa who sells Ronin. So if any Goan wants to buy the same then he/she has to make a one way trip of 350 kms at least. TVS is really working extremely slowly on this but not sure who genius in TVS team had this idea to limit reach of Ronin to the people. As per customer care care update, initially bikes were supposed to be made available almost everywhere. For example, Royal Enfield outlet is 30km away from me. Honda BigWing is 100km away from me (Still manageable to certain extent as I am still rooting for CB350) Nearest TVS Super Premium Store is 300 to 400km away from me and what customer care told me that even servicing has to be done in same store and not regular store. Regardless what bike can do for you and what cannot, if anything goes wrong and then you have to visit the store, if it is not nearby then you are only going to regret yourself for making the choice. If I really want to upgrade my bike then choice for me is really forced and obvious.
@@viankit1 Very shocking to hear that .. more or less same goes with Honda.. they have excellent product compared to RE but stores are really limited. Again these companies will say, Indians only deserve RE. NO, we deserve better than RE but at least make it available as much as possible.

hunter is visually pleasing but RE too have its worst sides like more breakdowns, vibrations, more wear n tear, increased repair cost etc.. but Ronin will be smooth and comfortable and more satisfying. RE will satisfy the onlookers but Ronin will satisfy you.
Present RE has zero vibrations and i have an old bs6 re classic 350(not the new gen classic)...its been 3 years...i havent faced any wear and tear. Nor have i heard this from any of mu friendcircle ...TVS on the other hand has most wear and tear problems and requires more maintenance.... Repair cost is not that high too
it is evident that TVS tried to make the Ronin LOOK LIKE bigger bike with those FLARED/ Flatter Rear mudguards and that dis proportionate Tank shape and those USD 40+ size Forks and those Fatter wheels

The logic is very simple... If you are 5.6 ft and above and well built buy royal Enfield bikes other wise you will hate the bike. All J series RE is fun and fantastic bike including 650.

Big disadvantage is re has only air cooled engine at this price
Being a long stroke engine it doesn't require oil or liquid cooling. I haven't seen any long stroke engine getting overheated unless revved up insanely.

Actual mein baithneke baad ground clearance measure karo, kyuki company claimed toh ek baat hai lekin dikhne ne dono same lag rahe hai isliye. An also if possible check with person sitting in pillion seat as well

You have got to be kidding me with the exhaust note. I dont even like hunter but that exhaust note is waayyy better than ronin. Ronin is not even close. Ronin sounds like a commuter bike.

I tried both then i went for Ronin.
Here people more inclined towards ronin bcoz of more features and top end. But they don't know low end torque of an RE which is where actual fun is lies, it's not just about brand but feel, surely u will missed in ronin. Yeh, until now RE has had quality issues but this is a new breed based on j series platform so before criticising we should give them a chance to prove.

Hunter has very less ground clearance. That's the drawback of this two wheeler.. specially for those who are planning to ride it in small cities with lots of speed cutters.. 🙂

One of the worst decision that TVS has taken to only launch Ronin via Super Premium Stores which are only available in metro cities. 200cc bike shouldn't fall under super premium category, if they want to fight against RE then they also have to work on their network like RE.
If not mistaken then Ronin was launched in Goa and many reviewers were invited but yet you cant find any single TVS Store in Goa who sells Ronin. So if any Goan wants to buy the same then he/she has to make a one way trip of 350 kms at least.
TVS is really working extremely slowly on this but not sure who genius in TVS team had this idea to limit reach of Ronin to the people. As per customer care care update, initially bikes were supposed to be made available almost everywhere.
For example,
Royal Enfield outlet is 30km away from me.
Honda BigWing is 100km away from me (Still manageable to certain extent as I am still rooting for CB350)
Nearest TVS Super Premium Store is 300 to 400km away from me and what customer care told me that even servicing has to be done in same store and not regular store.
Regardless what bike can do for you and what cannot, if anything goes wrong and then you have to visit the store, if it is not nearby then you are only going to regret yourself for making the choice. If I really want to upgrade my bike then choice for me is really forced and obvious.
It is not even here, in Delhi 😂😂
Like literally, i live in the capital and the 3 TVS showrooms near me say that they don't have Ronin 🤦😂😂

Again these companies will say, Indians only deserve RE. NO, we deserve better than RE but at least make it available as much as possible.

hunter is visually pleasing but RE too have its worst sides like more breakdowns, vibrations, more wear n tear, increased repair cost etc..
but Ronin will be smooth and comfortable and more satisfying. RE will satisfy the onlookers but Ronin will satisfy you.
Present RE has zero vibrations and i have an old bs6 re classic 350(not the new gen classic)...its been 3 years...i havent faced any wear and tear.
Nor have i heard this from any of mu friendcircle ...TVS on the other hand has most wear and tear problems and requires more maintenance....
Repair cost is not that high too
