I saw this line being restored in June 2016. I was at the Old Peppersass Celebration in North Adams with a friend and we drove down to Adams where we saw the reconstruction of the line. Sadly, Guilford ripped up the track south of where the track ends and there's a trail there now. May be someday the line can be restored again. The line is still used for freight as far as Renfrew (Zilonite) where there's a Zilonite mining and processing operation.
I was born and raised in No. Adams. The track has been in service for years but was recently upgraded for Berkshire Scenic and extended further into Adams. Unfortunately the track from Adams to Pittsfield was removed years ago and is now a rail trail.
If this operation could transport passengers to actually go from one place to another, like some of the preservation lines i witnessed in the UK, serving this transport function would raise it above being just another zombie railway. trails to rails! call their bluff!
My son really likes trains 🚆🚃🚄🚅🚇🚈🚉🚝🚞🛤🚊🚋🚂 especially railcars like that one he thinks they are highly underrated rail transportation vehicles and all should be preserved, restored, and put back into service carrying both passengers and mail on lines that are not used anymore or at least don't get passenger service.
Great video! I like the sound of the Hancock Air Whistle.
Thanks for watching
It looks like they still have a lot of brush and debris to remove off the rails and ties and once it's all done it's going to look nice
Love RDCs. Thanks for the close-ups and posting.

The “restored” section of the title is in reference to the Adams extension.
