Ah love these videos from the 90s. So inspiring. Modeling the railroads in the state of PA of the 70s , in n scale, and must admit that the CR becomes More and more interesting as time goes by. Thanks !
Conrail yrs were not always so great as many miles of popular mainlines were abandoned, or sold off. But, the company faithfully fulfilled it's directive. Miss ya Big Blue!
Not going to lie this video started off kind of like a horror film zoomed in on a church slowly zooming out and then a scary sound coming from the engine it sounded like lol crazy but cool
Ole 6666 was a former EL SD45-2 and like all her sisters spent the first half of the 1990s in pusher/helper service on the curve. CR yanked out the 20cyl for the smaller 16 cyl. They kept the locos near the curve on a siding when not in use. Not unusual to see 6-8 of them at any one time there.

Excellent 5* video of conrail ,,love those sd-40-2s ,,thanks for sharing
Wikipedia reports Conrail bought 167 SD40-2's, not to mention the straight old SD40's they inherited.
I always kind of thought the red eye signals were like aliens staring back at me.
Conrail was a better operation than NS's operation on these same lines, hands down.
Funny seeing a Guilford 600 there.
Guilford was very close to getting Conrail in the 80s. Let that sink in.
Sweet man

At 1:47 in, it was only right to give it a "like". Nice catch(es).
The Pennsylvania didn't make many engineering mistakes. Thanks.
Conrail did what it was supposed to do - put big old Humpty Dumpty back together again. And it's people did a super job, if you ask me.
Also did a great job for their shareholders, a strong argument can be made Conrail was the only gov bail out that actually worked.
This video's thumbnail pic is awesome, as is the video.
Back when trains were actually good
