This one is sure to spark some debate! Certainly had a few good (dis)honorable mentions that could have made the list. Who did I leave out that you think was a top 5 bust of the decade? Let me know!
Errett Van Dee I don't think Stewart-Haas expected her to win I think they expected her to bring in money so I don't really think it's a bust they probably got what they expected
Austin Dillon I can se being one of those MTJ type drivers to waste 10 years of his career driving for a team that doesn't give him success, then he gets lucky with a decent team and starts doing real well. Dude is real young, he's got a lot more racing in himm, he's not done yet
I doubt he'd leave RCR, as his grandfather owns RCR and I have a feeling he would never leave his grandfather and I don't think his grandfather would fire him, especially after he gave Dillon the 3.
How did he not get sponsorship?!?! Thats crazy. Maybe if he had consistent sponsorship, he could have hung in there through the learning curve. (I mean this in the sense that companies should have been lining up to sponsor him in NASCAR.)
@@extragoogleaccount6061 I found that to be crazy too. he's a huge name in the motorsports scene and im sure has sponsorship in other things, so why didn't they come to nascar?
I've had discussions with people about Pastrana in NASCAR - he went in thinking it was easy but learned the hard way that it's a real tough sport. He did end up leaving NASCAR because it would take up all of his time away from X Games and Nitro Circus and everything and came out humbled on the other side and now has strong admiration for NASCAR drivers.
I really don't understand how in the world Kasey Kahne is mentioned by some people, that's insane. He won 18 races, an All-star and Duel race, 3 Coca-Cola 600s, a Brickyard 400, 93 Top 5s, 176 Top 10s, over 4,000 laps led, 27 poles, and finished 4th in points in 2012. Hendrick gave him the worst equipment and he had a horrible crew chief from 2015-2017. If he's gonna be mentioned then somebody like Larson ought to be mentioned.
Pfft He was never a Championship Contending team with Hendrick in their prime. Once Hendrick started falling off only managed to get one win out of it. He had many opportunities to move teams but never did.
@@RC.41 He never really got a fair chance. He was breaking out with Evernham when they got into a lawsuit that hurt the team. That led to Petty buying them out, and that team never had the best equipment, Kahne made them look good in 2009. Red Bull was a one off and not quite on par with the big teams. 2012 and 2013 were years he was a potential championship competitor, and then in 2014-2017 Hendrick just started giving him weaker equipment and teams. I'm not saying he was a superstar, but he definitely wasn't a bust just because fans had higher expectations. I mentioned Larson because he's like Kahne in multiple ways. However, he has been racing for 6 years in Cup, and only has 6 wins and 3 winless seasons.
@@runrafarunthebestintheworld He won 2 races in 2012 and had a statistical chance at the title all the way to Miami, and finished 4th. He was really strong in 2013, but got caught in other driver's messes (JGR). 2014 was underrated because of only 1 win, but had Brad not on Talladega, he would have made the Round of 8. His only chance to move was in 2015, but because he was doing solid in the first 3 years he was extended. I'm not saying he did everything because he didn't, but in no way was he a bust
I almost completely forgot about Dylan K, and I think twice you showed how good and underrated of a driver Newman is. In 2014, nearly winning the championship with RCR while Dillon was mid-pack, and putting the 6 car in the playoffs this past season, while Ricky struggled. I was never a Danica fan. She was a pretty face that brought money and that was it, plus I think she was a total snot. Her expectations were so high that nobody could live up to it. Pastrana was one of the coolest guys I've ever met, met him twice that year, he was in over his head, and Trevor Bayne was one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, but Roush after the "Big 3" (Kenseth, Edwards, and Biffle) is where careers went to die, he had the sponsorship with Advocare too, that was the crazy thing. Anyway, great video as always, and Merry Christmas!
Who is here after the 3rd biggest bust of the 2010s won the Daytona 500? If so, do you also thing that means winning the Daytona 500 has just been rendered worthless now that Stenhouse won it?
In 2019 I would have agreed that Austin Dillon was a bust as a Cup driver. I called him a Charter Member of The Lucky Sperm Club. But I am gaining respect for him. In the past year, it seems he has gained a knack for being near the top of the field at the end of a race. Maybe what he lacks in outright speed is being replaced with a veteran's ability to be there at the end.
Really good list. Honestly it is sad remembering how hyped some of these drivers were for them to ultimately fail. Dillion still has a chance to redeem himself, but I don’t see it happening.
I said this before about Danica, she had other good races but it didn't go her way. 2014 charlotte night race running in the top 10 got wrecked by Joey logano, 2014 talladega fall took the lead we fans thought she might win the race but the caution came out, 2014 Martinsville fall running in top 10 got wreck my martin truex jr and then got caught up in a wreck later on, 2015 new Hampshire chase race running close to a top 10 got wrecked by Ryan newman, 2017 Kansas running in top 10 joey logano lost his brakes 2017 Richmond in top 10 got dumped by Austin dillon.
I would also give Kyle Larson honorable mention. There was so much hype surrounding this kid in the early 2010s and while he has had a good career, 6 wins after all this time is not what people expected.
I think Bayne was a big hype after the 500 because he was a southern young gun, and I think a lot of Tennessee fans lached on to him. That, I'm sure, played a big part in the hype.
Dillon is far from a bust, he's a hell of a driver and what do you expect from RCR equipment being not that great..no driver in that stable in the cup series is lighting the world on fire
Considering his equipment Dillon's done quite solid recently. Currently he's 11th in points and he just qualified 6th for the Coke 600. I think he could potentially turn RCR around. Not quite to the Earnhardt days however.
Glad you didn’t include Suarez on here because the way his career has been handled so far is pretty bad. He’s now gotten rushed out of 2 rides the past two seasons despite improving over the past year in a worse car than the JGR 19. If they could keep Logano around when he was doing nothing for 4 years then why get rid of Suarez after 2
Daniel Suárez is one of the biggest bust I have seen in recent history. He was all hyped up at JGR. He won the Xfinity Championship and had the Arris sponsorship. He then replaced Carl Edwards and finished 20th and 21st in points, not making the playoffs both years. Truex goes to the 19 in 2019 and almost wins the Championship. Then Suárez goes to the 41 and doesn't make the playoffs in 2019. Danica is #1 but Suárez is a very close #2.
I add one for the ages and that was Michael Waltrip 33 years racing and 784 starts with 4 wins I tend to agree with the assessments that you have but the biggest bust was Waltrip, I include Mikie because he did race all the way to 2017
Biggest bust, Kasey Kahne. I don’t really consider Danica a bust because I personally never expected her to win anyways. Back in 2004 a lot of people predicted Kahne would be a big thing. I said back then Vickers was more talented
Seriously? 18 wins, 3 Coca-Cola 600 wins, Brickyard 400 win, won in all 3 series and every manufacturer he drove for, 27 poles, 93 Top 5s, 176 Top 10s, and I can throw out many more stats. Kasey was nowhere near a bust, if anything the only bust was the 5 car being hyped because in all reality it was the R&D car at HMS.
No, she'll never win in NASCAR. Even with HMS/Ford power she got lapped nearly every race by the 50 lap mark. She's slow, has bad car control, and no skill for this style of racing. She should have stayed in the IRL where she was at least mediocre. Also, look at the her old rides, both of them (her old NW ride and IRL ride) have both won races this season all they changed was the driver. I'll say it again, she will never win in NASCAR.
@@thefossillcave Never said she would win at NASCAR, she was crap at driving stock cars. I think she could've won an Indy 500, because she always ran well at Indianapolis in an IndyCar

@@IanHowes_nashuacc2015 exactly, for Hendrick he should have had multiple wins every year only time this happened was 2014 and 2015 not to mention all of his concussions
Marcos Ambrose was the Dale Earnhardt of supercars and struggled to even be remotely competitive on ovals. I was a big fan of his either way but he too was a bust, albeit in less than top shelf equipment. Man, that late race battle w/Brad K. at Watkings Glen was fuggin awesome.
#5 - Totally agree he's a bust. RCR isn't the organization it was with Dale Sr., Harvick, Jeff Burton, or Ryan Newman at the helm, but they should still put up top 15 results for the season with their #1 driver. On top of that, Austin's attitude just makes him seem like a spoiled kid, so I'm not cutting him any slack. #4 - I've said this since he pulled off that Daytona 500 win, he set the bar way too high for himself. Ryan Blaney and even Paul Menard have proven that with Wood Bros. equipment you can run better than Bayne ever did. It didn't improve at Roush, and he showed he didn't have what it took to run in the premier series in NASCAR. Honestly think he should be further up the list. #3 - I actually did have some expectation for Stenhouse to do okay in Cup, same as with Austin, but his aggressive driving style only suits superspeedways at this level. He should have become a career Xfinity driver, he would have won quite a few more championships imho. #2 - Pastrana's hometown is literally 20 minutes from where I sit right now. I've followed his career since he raced dirtbikes, before he became a freestyler and blew up to become an extreme sports icon. He can wheel just about anything, but NASCAR was a bit out of his range I think. Would have loved to see him stick with the sport and try to improve, but he was in during the time when a lot of drivers were in and out of the sport (such as Kwasniewski), and as much as I love the guy, I knew it probably wouldn't last. #1 - I paused before you even said her name. It's gotta be Danica. And there's nothing more to be said about her sad career than what all the NASCAR TH-camrs have already said. I've never seen a driver who's career lasted as long as hers did, when she wrecked SO. MANY. CARS. A talented driver, but like Travis, stock cars were not her thing. And she just wouldn't give it up, for years.
Totally agree with everyone of your drivers, and I agree with all of them, but a few of them I blame the owners and NASCAR( Travis Pastrana, and Patrick) name recognition drivers who in my opinion were brought in to bring new fans to NASCAR, thus putting a lot of pressure on not only them but on the owners that hired them. I believe Natalie Decker is going down the same road.
Top 5 in no particular way (pretty controversial as of now possibly) Danica Patrick Ricky Stenhouse Jr Trevor Bayne Juan Pablo Montoya (I know he came in 2007, but he truly fell off a cliff in this decade) Daniel Hemric

9:51 Oh my good man !!!
*hey a couple got on the list*
This guy must be the best talker ever
I was just waiting for Stenhouse Jr and Patrick. It was only a matter of time
Set house has the number 17 car and the year he won those two races was in 2017..
Lol Spinhouse and Danica are on the title picture......
DennyDelivers is this u Zach ?
@@matthewfontaine251 Yes
I think some honorable mentions would be Juan Montoya, Michael Ambrose, Brian Scott, and maybe even Sam Hornish Jr.
Top 5 NASCAR Busts of the 2010's
1. Danica Patrick
2. Natalie Decker
3. Daniel Suarez
4. Trevor Bayne
5. Dylan Kwasniewski
Dillon is in a family cup ride. Yes, 2 championships and a win at the Daytona 500, a win at coca cola 600
I wholeheartedly agree with #5.
Cool new intro👍👍
everyone in the garage knew Danica hated the feeling of a sliding car.... going back to her Atlantics days - to the day she retired
Exactly. She made a name in IndyCar when the cars were at their easiest to drive and the talent level in the series was hot garbage.
I understand that Juan Pablo was 2006-2014 so it's hard to decide which decade really. But I'd have to say Montoya has to be on this list.
How long are you in college so you can continue making races
great video liked 🏎🏆
But where is Ricky stenhouese at now owns his own sprint car team
Spoiler:
Danica Patrick is 1-5
Oof, better watch the video
Top 5 in no particular way (pretty controversial as of now possibly)
Danica Patrick
Ricky Stenhouse Jr
Trevor Bayne
Juan Pablo Montoya (I know he came in 2007, but he truly fell off a cliff in this decade)
Daniel Hemric
It’s funny that three

Dolly Parton, Betty Boop. .............Oh wait , I'm on the wrong Biggest Bust video ! Lol
Danica won a pole, but that was it for her in NASCAR

7 Dylan Kawasaki
6 Austin Dillon
5 Danica Patrick
4 Ryan Blaney
3 Daniel hemric
2 Ricky stenhouse JR
1 Paul Menard
CarterN _23 How is Blaney a bust are you dumb
14:00 you mention Mark Martin, Carl Edward's, and Matt Kenseth. Only 1 championship between those 3 drivers. Dude....c'mon!
Wait so those 3 drivers have 1/3 of a championship each?
lol
Thanks for finally mentioning how Austin Dillon is pretty lackluster driver
Cool new intro
You should do the top 5 biggest succesed drivers of the decade
I agree with this list. Danica by far was the biggest bust of the 2010's.
