I remember reading a book about weird animals when I was younger and the CIA cat was mentioned, but it was presented as a cutesy way. It was really interesting to learn the real info about it!

Growing up the media I consumed was very clear on the CIA being the cool and rational guys who did what had to be done. This image lent them an air of legitimacy they don‘t deserve and now I‘ve come to believe that it‘s important to put it into question. We need to improve the CIA so it can keep us safe," where Bevins in Jakarta Method is more like "the CIA is a global terrorist organization that killed a million people in Indonesia and millions more around the world." Definitely prefer that standpoint myself

Because Allen Dulles' plan was to go to Kennedy and say: "Mr. President, here's the situation! Our boys are dying out there! You have to do something now!" The plan was to create circumstances in which Kennedy was forced to invade Cuba. Eisenhower would have. Easily. But Kennedy didn't. Instead he fired Dulles.
I feel so bad for Esterline, I know friends who have been in his position... I mean having bosses who are over-confident jackasses who do no research, ignore advice from "people who aren't team players", and suck up to senior management by telling them what they want to hear. Not people who want to overthrow foreign goverments.

The book The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein talks about Ewen Cameron. Also highly recommend The Jakarta Method by Vincent Bevins.
Those were two of the books I read for this video! Both great recommendations. Jakarta Method was probably the best book I read in 2020
