Thanks for the video, which gives a good overview about the cam. What is interesting in my opinion is, that the quality does not look better than on my 6 years old HDC-SD66...

First off thanks for the awesome vids. How you review them is exactly how I want to use the camera I will be buying. I also watched your review on the Panasonic HC V180 and I thought it looked like a great camera but didn't have the features this one did. However I would like your opinion on the video quality of the 2 when zoomed in. It looked like the V180 had a sharper image when zoomed to 90x than the V380. Is this something you saw as well or could it just be something on my end that makes it look that way?

I was wondering if you did any editing on the footage or if its raw footage, and how you rate the audio? I was also wondering if you think the hc-w580k or the hc-v770k are worth the extra money? I plan on getting a solvid head mount system as well so I would need one that works well with that system. How does it work when filming with the helmetstrap? Is it possible to record with the monitor shut as shown 01:22 or is all recording done with an open monitor/screen as camcorders usually does? Good work with the video!
Annie - sorry for the untimely response. Yes, the camera will record with the screen closed; one of few. All you have to do is get it recording and then close tge screen. Hit record and it'll stop and shut down.

Have you ever tested the V270? If u have, or from the vids on TH-cam, can you tell me how this compares to it? Particularly in terms of picture sharpness when zooming in and clarity in low light? Thank you.
The V270 uses most of the same internal components . You will see little, if any difference. The start up time on the 380 is faster.
From what I can tell Panasonic discontinued that model. It's available, but at a mark-up.
From what I see..the 270 actually seems to look sharper at distance, especially on the mile long shot.. unless it's just how TH-cam decided to mess with the upload that day?
my 270 started draining the batteries while off after a the warranty was over. asurion couldn't fix it so they're sending a e card. the 270 had a horrible clicking noise from the zoom lever and it was annoying on my bird videos when zooming alot. especially with mic gain turned up. does this newer one have the clicking sounds from the lever? plus the 270 was slow at turning on and recording. so much slower then my old TM90. Is the 380 alot faster at powering up and recording? i looked like it in the video .
Eric Burris the 380 fires up right away compared to the 270. the 180 is slow like the 270. the tm90 was a great camera, but had an internal component that went out on all of ours (4 of them) but was the best for size, footage quality and price.

RIF'AT HUSAINI - the camera can do it with the WiFi streaming but it will depend on the pc or monitor whether it will work for you.

Are you able to put the camera in silent mode for hunting so it does not beep at all?

You are a good and wonderful man It is a dream that I want to fulfill in order to know who is the most powerful camera in the zoom, is it Sony or Pansonic ........
I film fishing with this camera is there anyway I can reduce the wind noise with a external mic or something of that kind? thanks
Rougarou about the only thing you could do is attach a piece of foam to the microphone. also you could put tape over the mic, but will likely muffle all audio a little. I roll with it as is and edit the sound if needed in post production. I will swap audio from a different video.

Do you know if this camera has a file-size limit? Does it split long duration recordings? If so, does it do it seamlessly or is there a frame loss between splits?
Nuno Torres has a 4 gb limit. it is seamless.
Solvid FIY ok, thanks for the reply. I had to ask because I'm currently looking for a replacement for my HMX-H200, which has a loss of 25 frames in each split that ruins the whole thing.
Solvid FIY I just got from the Panasonic Support that the splitting isn't seamless and there's a loss of several frames between each file. How did you see it's seamless?
I did not read this. I use the camera a lot and when the 4 gb limit splits the video, I put it together in Vegas editing program and I cannot tell that it is two different clips. That is my personal experience.
did they use any post-production on the footage other than video editing?
The only post production edits were slight contrast and brightness setting changes. Thanks

I can't really tell the difference between the 180 and 380, which one is better?
Saib Ua Si - there is no difference in footage quality between the Panasonic hc-180v and the hc-380v camcorders. they have the same processor. the difference is the 380 has WiFi streaming, a bigger screen, starts up in 1 second vs 4 seconds and is priced higher. hope that helps with your decision.

I have a camera like this and now it shows an error message that says like: Error detected. Turn it off and then back on again. I don't know what's the meaning of that.

Device look cool, zoom is excelent, lens cover is the best idea ever, quality is subpar, looks like from 2013 tablet camera. Price is high, alternatives are almost none so it is what it is.
