The focus on k/d in CoD is just staggering
It’s like they really don’t know how else to know if a player is good at CoD. There should be a discussion on role, impact, and then in last k/d
The problem is that CoD is primarily a game for casual players, who only play pubs, Shipment 24/7 or TDM or Kill Confirmed, never any of the competitive modes... And half the time they're either running solo or even with friends they still play "lone wolf" style where they're all just focused on individual performance and not on winning the game.
This has led directly to the vast majority of CoD players thinking that K/D is the best way to measure how good someone is. So when they watch CDL matches, they're the guys in chat saying "I'll smoke all 4 of these guys by myself" because they see the pros going basically even most of the time... Like, no bro, you won't smoke Drazah or hell, even a guy like Capsidal... You just think you would because you don't understand what you're seeing.
In competitive CoD, if you can consistently perform right around even (k/d) most of the time and you have good fundamentals for whatever CoD you're playing, that's so much better for a team's chances to win than a guy who is super talented but can't read spawns, doesn't have S&D strats/doesn't know how to follow strats, doesn't know when/how to effectively rotate in HP... Look at the Boston Breach and Snoopy. He's a very talented player, mechanically speaking but his fundamentals are atrocious and that's part of the reason why Boston has lost 14 series in a row. They haven't won a match since the Major 2 qualifiers, and there's a number of reasons for it but at or near the top of that list of reasons is Snoopy and his lack of fundamentals in CoD.

@@Iamchubbbs no company is gonna give out more money than they have to. If they only need to pay someone 200k because thats all cap allows no business would just hand over 500k for no reason. Those orgs only pay guys a percentage of content revenue if they don't make content they won't pay them for it

If there’s no buy in fee I don’t see a reason expansion wouldn’t happen. Only thing I could think of is more teams means more match which means more coverage and they’ve been cutting their coverage team to like one to two people so covering 16 teams constantly might be too much? Other than that there’s really no reason.
Nothing about the restructure of the league will come out until after Champs at the earliest and depending on the deal with ESWC, probably not until after that.
Then there is the whole BO6 launch. Activision isn't going to let Daniel Tsay or Spencer say a single word about CDL if it doesn't complement the pre-launch hype around BO6 - Microsoft will "disappear" people who detract from that.
I would suggest that MAYBE they could announce something about Ranked Play and Competitive COD at COD Next on August 28th - they'll have BO6 MP, BO6 Zombies, WZ, and maybe instead of WZ Mobile, they might feature Competitive COD. WZ Mobile has been a pretty significant failure financially and with the number of activations (less than 25m apparently), so to give up a prime marketing slot for something that nobody is playing and could be used by something like the CDL relaunch seems like a no brainer.
I think it'd be interesting to see the CDL ran kind of like the 2K League (2KL). In the 2KL each year they retain 3 of their players, and the rest of them go into the draft pool and it's a bit of a restart. The teams that did the worst have better odds at a high pick, and can even trade their picks for a player they'd like to retain. I think it'd make the offseason a little more interesting. Instead of 3, maybe 2 could be retained, and obviously if it isn't working out trades could be made.

The bug is from the Cache game mode in pubs. Weird that it's showing up in SnD tho

12 team league is actually perfect, hear me out...get rid of online games and regular season matches... make it only majors (12 team online 2k or 5k for seeding), 4 groups of 4 teams, which are the 12 league teams + the top 4 from the challengers elite....perfect format imo

@@rayboldeniii5401 that's the point...like rab said, 16 teams works best for majors, but we're not going to get expansion, so we're locked to 12 teams for next year, which imo is perfect because you can integrate the challengers ecosystem into it, by qualifying the top 4 challengers elite teams to the pro majors...so you'd have the 12 pro teams like usual, but with the benefits of the 16 team group play format...so in this scenario we don't even need expansion, we just have 12 pro teams that go to every major and 4 rotating amateur teams based on the elite results

We have a 4 team league rn its very likely that next year we ll have a 3 team league. Ppl are complaining this year about the games beeing boring without any of the top 4 beeing involved but are now asking for there to be 4 more completely dogshit teams in the league next year??? The only thing thats gonna do is that instead of 3 teams that win everything and 9 beeing there to be eliminated we ll then have 3 teams winning everything and 13 fighting over breadcrumbs
So it will be like pretty much every competitive league ever? Most years in every comp/sport i watch there are top teams that predictably make the finals etc
@@enterpassword3313 only that there are usually also events for the lower tier times like the euro league in soccer for instance and you have different leagues through which you can rise to reach the highest one and yeah if u ask me whether id want there to be 10 more dogshit teams in the Premier League my answer would be no as well eventho upsets happen a Lot more often in traditional sports that they do in esports (at least in the current league)

Also the likelyhood of teams managing to pull of an upset in traditional sports is higher Ive never heard the complaint about the games beeing boring and shouldnt even happen in traditional sports in cod i See them literally everytime the bottom 8 are playing
This… the skill gap is so insane that the bottom 8 teams can’t even match up to the top 4 teams. The T8 would be slamming them left, right and centre, as it’s proving to be the case this season.

Expansion would only be good if there was an expansion draft where players could be poached off current teams. And that just is not going to happen, and expansion would actually make the cdl an even worse product at this current point
