However, the demons only attack because they want you to cease in your prayer, to cease in your glorification of the father, son and holy spirit. So of course the solution to the problem is to remain steadfast in your prayer and not shy away because of demonic temptation, no matter how many times you slip in the mud, no matter how many times you fall. confess your sins, admit your mistakes, and keep on getting up. persistence and perseverance in the face of absolute evil and a strong desire to seek the lord even in the face of all the trials placed in front of you will lead to small graces and small deliverances and your soul will gradually be tempered. the tempering of your soul takes time, though, and different souls require a different level and amount of tempering in order for you to be deemed worthy of salvation, so we must all be patient and continue to struggle to the level that the lord has deemed appropriate for each of us. When I fall, I try to repent (confess my sins) as soon as possible. And I keep praying. What helps me to get back up again is my growing love for and desire to be with Jesus in heaven for all eternity. I’m eager to hear Father’s teaching on this important topic.
this is what Christ teaches us is true repentance. repentance is not only turning away from sins, it is turning Toward Christ, seeing Him as most prescious, and meditate on how Christ died, the eternal Son of God, tasted mortality. when you are looking at Him, then His light makes all the worldy lusts and sins look repulsive, and you truly reject and hate them, and you love Christ all the more. it helps me when I am confronted with temptation to remember, "Christ died for this, how dare I sin against the One who forgave me" but if we do sin, don't give in to the lie that "we must wait to pray and ask forgiveness" or thoughts of despair. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins" remember, don't get this backwards, the order matters, Turn to God first, Turn from Sin 2nd. (although they are practically simultaneous) if we try to stop sinning, without first turning to God to ask forgiveness, then we are guilty of idolatry, because you're trusting yourself to earn God's favor by trying not to sin, instead of Trusting Christ to not only forgive your sins, but to give you grace and power to reject sins, and cleanse your heart.
I woke up this morning with a sense of guilt and desperation. While having breakfast, I browsed youtube to look for "something" and this video came out among the first 3 results. Pray to God brother ill pray for you also. I was addicted to vaping for 6 years and just quit a couple months ago. I was so sick of vaping i wanted to stop so bad but i couldnt. So one day i decided to pray and at this time i wasnt too religious i just started getting back into my Catholic faith. The day after i prayed to God to help me stop vaping i started getting horrible intense chest pains all over my chest it scared me so bad but i still vaped because how addicted i was. I usually dont go to the doctor for anything but my chest pain was so bad and they sent me for a chest xray. They didnt see anything on the xrays and told me i was fine. I still had pains and eventually would come back every now and then. I completely forgot that i prayed for God to help me because of how scary the pains i had were. Now a couple months later I was still vaping but i just remembered that i prayed and the day after was the day i started getting pains so that week i started using nicotine pouches instead and i stopped vaping. Im now 4 months clear of not vaping and im only working on quitiing pouches now. If I can do it you can brother just keep praying to Jesus and ask for his help he will help you just as he helped me

Asking Forgiveness for the Same Exact reasons, Multiple times a day! Some days, multiple times per Hour.... I sometimes have thoughts questioning the chrismation and baptism somehow "didn't take" 😔 Lord forgive and have mercy... Personal life does not seem to be " bearing fruit" of the Holy Spirit, and I find myself asking the Lord , what gifts of the Holy Spirit, if any has He bestowed om me. Speaking with my spiritual father sometimes seems to leave me with more question and guilt, and find myself hesitant to be open and candid... Thank you for these videos, father...

I needed this, Father. I am being brought into the Church in a few weeks and have been trying to kill my passion of Lust during my catechumen phase. Praise God i've been mostly successful (compared to past years), but I have fallen a couple times. It's very easy to be discouraged by my (seeming) inability to resist my passions, but thinking on your words, "God desires our Salvation even more than we want it ourselves" is extremely uplifting. I have chosen to love my wicked sin over the Lord. I feel my relationship with him is false and I really never loved God. I act like I follow God on the outside with everything in life but on the inside I’m terrible and prone to so much sin. I don’t know how I can come back and change when I don’t even feel willing to but I know that all things are possible for the Lord and he exceeds our feeble selves. I can only pray for forgiveness and repent. Lord let not my will be done but yours.

if we try to stop sinning, without first turning to God to ask forgiveness, then we are guilty of idolatry, because you're trusting yourself to earn God's favor by trying not to sin, instead of Trusting Christ to not only forgive your sins, but to give you grace and power to reject sins, and cleanse your heart.

Pray to God brother ill pray for you also. I was addicted to vaping for 6 years and just quit a couple months ago. I was so sick of vaping i wanted to stop so bad but i couldnt. So one day i decided to pray and at this time i wasnt too religious i just started getting back into my Catholic faith. The day after i prayed to God to help me stop vaping i started getting horrible intense chest pains all over my chest it scared me so bad but i still vaped because how addicted i was. I usually dont go to the doctor for anything but my chest pain was so bad and they sent me for a chest xray. They didnt see anything on the xrays and told me i was fine. I still had pains and eventually would come back every now and then. I completely forgot that i prayed for God to help me because of how scary the pains i had were. Now a couple months later I was still vaping but i just remembered that i prayed and the day after was the day i started getting pains so that week i started using nicotine pouches instead and i stopped vaping. Im now 4 months clear of not vaping and im only working on quitiing pouches now. If I can do it you can brother just keep praying to Jesus and ask for his help he will help you just as he helped me
Pray for me, too, to give up cigarettes.

I found your channel maybe 3 years ago, when you commented under one of Jordan Petersons videos I was watching about his opinion on Orthodox Christians. Been watching you ever since. I'm not an Orthodox tho, I live in a Catholic majority country and consider myself just a simple Christian. I watch and follow all Christian authors, but Orthodoxy due to its "simplicity" and the long unchanged history appeals to me most. God Bless and thank you.

Asking Forgiveness for the Same Exact reasons, Multiple times a day! Some days, multiple times per Hour.... I sometimes have thoughts questioning the chrismation and baptism somehow "didn't take" 😔 Lord forgive and have mercy... Personal life does not seem to be " bearing fruit" of the Holy Spirit, and I find myself asking the Lord , what gifts of the Holy Spirit, if any has He bestowed om me. Speaking with my spiritual father sometimes seems to leave me with more question and guilt, and find myself hesitant to be open and candid... Thank you for these videos, father...

I am new to Orthodoxy and I am learning, just starting to taste, the power and grace in daily, even hourly, repentance and the recitation of The Jesus Prayer. There is such great hope in knowing that God will forgive me in my humble and contrite repentance. It is not easy for me though, sometimes I drag my feet a little too long on the bigger issues when my pride gets in the way. Yes, repenting of my pride too! Lol!

It's very difficult living in the West because the very things that cause us to stumble and turn away from God -- money, material success and never having enough -- are the highest values in western society, being prideful, having faith in one's own ability rather than God, etc. In short, very subtle things oftentimes.

I needed this, Father. I am being brought into the Church in a few weeks and have been trying to kill my passion of Lust during my catechumen phase. Praise God i've been mostly successful (compared to past years), but I have fallen a couple times. It's very easy to be discouraged by my (seeming) inability to resist my passions, but thinking on your words, "God desires our Salvation even more than we want it ourselves" is extremely uplifting.

I have chosen to love my wicked sin over the Lord. I feel my relationship with him is false and I really never loved God. I act like I follow God on the outside with everything in life but on the inside I’m terrible and prone to so much sin. I don’t know how I can come back and change when I don’t even feel willing to but I know that all things are possible for the Lord and he exceeds our feeble selves. I can only pray for forgiveness and repent. Lord let not my will be done but yours.
