  • John Charles Patrick Croghan Daly , was a South African-born American radio and television personality, CBS News broadcast journalist, ABC News executive, TV anchor, and game show host, best known for his work on the CBS panel show What's My Line?
In World War II, he was the first national correspondent to report the attack on Pearl Harbor and the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and he covered much of the front-line news from Europe and North Africa.
    Early life
The second of two brothers, Daly was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, where his American father worked as a geologist. While in Johannesburg, Daly attended Marist Brothers College. After his father died of a tropical fever, Daly's mother moved the family to Boston, Massachusetts. At that time, John was 11 years old, and attended the Tilton School and later served on its board of directors for many years, contributing to the construction or restoration of many buildings on campus. He did his post-secondary education at a junior college and graduated from Boston College. Daly worked for a time in a wool factory and a transit company in Washington, D.C., before becoming a reporter for NBC Radio and later CBS.

Why don't you get a live human to read the narration? Even an amateur reader could do better than a talking algorithm.

John Daly was a brilliant and talented individual, deserving much better than a narration of a poorly executed computer app.

Was he in the Navy? Never hear that and he is buried at Arlington National Cementary and only one video mentioned he was a Liutentant in the Navy.

Is this another one of those AI-narrated video presentations? The tempo of the narrator's speaking needs to slow down; it leaves you with the sense that he has to go to the bathroom really bad, so he's just trying to get through his commentary before he wets his pants. Also, there's some unnatural hesitations in the narrator's oration, which makes listening to it uninteresting.
