Heifetz and Perlman are my two my violin inspirations! And Tchaikovsky has to be my favourite composer along with Saint-Saens, so this is the perfect combination for me. Think I'll play this for my next concert

Son regard n'est pas froid mais en retrait, trop concentré pour que son regard exprime quoi que ce soit. Observons son attitude corporelle dans le jeux. Elle n'est pas froide mais sublime. La perfection du geste.
Je pense que les gens qui disent qu'il est froid est car il bouge très peu quand il joue , très peu de mouvement et d'expression facial , mais pour moi le peu de mouvement est plutot une preuve de sa virtuosité qu'autre chose , aucun mouvement gaché .. Sinon je trouve qu'il joue souvent trop vite , mais ce n'est qu'une question de goût

No one quite like Jascha Heifetz... And I don't think there ever will be. There are other violinists I think who may be considered equally as good, but they're definitely not the same.
Fritz Kreisler was better, there was something more in his performance: Viennese aristocratism. Heifetz was the master of sound and violin technique, but something was still missing compared to Kreisler. I define this something as culture, education, aristocratism.

His Russian cultural backround together with his Northamerican transculture gave him unparalleled interpretative power, combining Slavic "pathos" and romanticism with american "jazzy" swing. He was also a superb interpreter of Spanish music (see for example his interpretation titled "Jascha Heifetz plays Falla (dance)" and many others including many of Sarasate's masterpieces for the violin in youtubes wonderful collections)
I appreciate your thoughtful comment: you're up to the point, Peter, but something is still missing compared to Kreisler, namely: Viennese aristocratism and encyclopaedic education. When Rachmaninoff was asked who he thought is the greatest violinist of the 20th century, he did not hesitate to say "Fritz Kreisler: he is one level above everybody else, with Heifetz somewhere near." Oistrakh shared this view.

Fritz Kreisler is the best violinist of the 20th century. I share this opinion of Rachmaninoff and Oistrakh.

This is quite a coincidence! I took lessons from Detroit Symphony’s fifth chair first violin player, back in the 70’s! His name was Jack Boesen! 🙂
