Welcome to another incredible message from Ren! Money Ties is an original song about how greed personally affects your soul. It is also a personal message to his sister, Leah, who had just celebrated a birthday. He had planned to release the track on the day of her birthday, but could not due to various reasons, some legal, some personal. This was filmed by Luke Flegg, one of Ren's friends and someone who has co-directed and filmed previous pieces. This was recorded on location throughout Brighton and London. I believe this piece was also done with a slightly higher budget than normal for his videos, ~1,000 quid or so, mostly due to travel and basics needs for production. It is a track that has a 'split' personality: one is primarily about greed and its effects on our soul and the other is a personal message to his sister, conveying how greed and the darkness that people negatively embrace can change and alter who you are as a person, sometimes not for the better. Honestly, I feel like trying to break down his bars here is almost counterintuitive because as DEEP as these lyrics are, unless you are really not paying attention, I feel like everyone pretty much gets it. There's no triple entendres here, no pop culture references, just bringing attention to various aspects of how society connects to itself through greed. The introduction piece is spoken by Kit, a friend of Ren's and the female singer during the intro of Slaughter House, is slightly modified from the original verse, and is from the Bible: 1 Timothy 6:6-9. "Money makes the pure man lawless, proud Money makes a man's verb consummate the noun 'Cause an action to a thing is inspired by the pound or the dollar" This particular line does seem to confuse people so I'll clarify here: this means that money turns what would be a good, honest, rightful, righteous, and happy person into someone willing to compromise all their ideals for money because once you make money the primary motivator, it becomes the only motivator and everything else is a 'commodity' to be traded, sold, bartered, and purchased like any good. Some consider this to be an unofficial 'Money Game Part 4' but it is definitely not that. While it's main topic is greed, this is distinctly different, artistically and cognitively, to Money Game. Ren has made it clear that the Money Game series MIGHT get a continuation in the future, but for now, that series is over and complete in Ren's eyes. Now to the main piece of information that makes this song extra special: Ren worked with a beats producer named Nayz who was also personally manipulated and downtrodden by KujoBeats. So Ren gave Nayz the same deal he offered to Kujo: 50/50 split all the way across the board and they would work on the song together. I would also like to add here something Ren said in a community post a couple of weeks after Money Ties' release: "To clarify also, money ties was never about criticising the individual - even if that individual does dedicate their lives to the pursuit of money - it was about making changes to the foundations of the house that harbours it, so that everyone of us straight out the gate has their basic needs met - food, shelter, and love. Teaching critical empathy forward thinking in schools rather than creating memory bots who regurgitate and don’t challenge facts is eroding people’s intellectual potential." This mirrors the spoken word piece at the end of Money Game Part 3, where he talks about how by not advocating for intelligence, richness in self, and the truth to understand our world, we hold back the potential of our species, to our detriment and potential, permanent, downfall. Ren is absolutely spitting facts in this song and it is pretty deep as well. Unless Ren is just having fun with a song he is always spitting facts that cause you to think and sometimes search your soul. Whereas the subject of this song is similar, the trilogy you're thinking of is Money Game.

On one hand a prophet can't prophesize to just nobody, they must have someone to tell the prophesy to, and on the other hand, all the "profit" made by the wealth class and greedy oligarchs wouldn't be possible without the masses, or people consuming all these products, most of which we don't need. ✌💚
