The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
    Some are famous.
    And some infamous....
    ....and some with tragic endings.
    #graves #cemeteries #death

When I was a teenager in the early 70's... We would draw Kilroy was here with the face... At night all over town!! We didn't look at it as vandalism because it's only chalk!! We didn't understand the meaning if course but Kilroy was just an endearing cartoon to us!! Oh those days were so much fun to be s teenager! All we did... and yet we NEVER LITTERED! We respected property back then... Not like kids now

Another great Face's of the forgotten! Thank you Ron ❤️🇬🇧

I didn't realize that "Kilroy" was a real guy, I figured someone came up with the idea but didn't know the story. What an icon that little figure was, and I'm sure it made a lot of people smile. Something they all needed at that time. Thank you for letting us know the real deal, Ron.

I loved this story. My dad used to draw him on wood, cut it out and set them around the house. In school we drew him on our book covers. Thanks for a happy memory.

Perhaps it should have been written on his headstone: Kilroy IS here! 😉
I think we all know that, when all is said and done, Hitler wasn't the sharpest tool in the box

I would have guessed he would have had 'Kilroy is Here' on his headstone somewhere. Just small in a corner. Yes, we used to scribble the cartoon on bathroom walls, in our text books, on our desks, on the blackboard etc. Our History teacher only said, "It's probably a real person" but never went further. Very good video Mr Ron!! Thank u for bringing the truth to us!!

Agreed, the little character should have been on the stone. How many men made it because of him we will never know. Just a little smile for them in a world of chaos.

My Father use to add a Kilroy character at the end of his notes to us kids or in his letters. It was to me very endearing. Good to know there was an actual person behind it! Yes he was in the service, and stationed in Africa. Don’t know in what capacity.

My Uncle was a member of the famous Merrill’s Marauders although he never talked about the battles he was involved in, he only said that the real heroes didn’t come back. He said he didn’t want remember all he had seen because it was horrific and suffered with PTSD for years. Uncle Wayne was truly a member of the Greatest Generation as was my Dad other family. My Dad had polio as a child therefore the army wouldn’t take him. Dad worked at Caterpillar building tanks. Both my Dad and Uncle used to draw Kilroy when they finished a job. We kids picked the habit up and used to do left Kilroy all over the place.

There were some guys lived on the corner a few blocks away that called a few of us Kilroy because we turned up all over the neighborhood.
