84 years old? Wow, congratulations little fella. 🦜
Old fella**
@@JJ-sg8wl little old adorable fella
He can see a little I think. 2:04
@@TheAstroflight Yes, unfortunately you are 100 percent right. Except for the smallest parrots they all live long lives. Most people buy a larger parrot at an age when their lives have become stable, in their late 20s, 30s to early 40s. That almost always ends in need of finding another owner.
@TheAstroflight Finally a sensible answer 🤗 But what I also think is absolutely impossible is that these parrots are kept INDIVIDUALLY in captivity. Parrots are flocking birds! 🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜
And elephants are herd animals 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
I sometimes wonder how stupid people are 🙈🙉🙊
You lovely fellow!! I am 81 years old, and you at 84 look far handsomer than I do. I send you lots of love, Koko. 💕💕
you lost all your feathers😄😄
👍♥️♥️
I am sure you have a lovely smile and a good heart
Ok Boomer
@@Chad-oh5ikwhy do you have to be like this?
For a senior parrot that has had a history of loss, and abuse, and many homes, Coco is a really well adjusted bird. Many Parrots die of a broken heart, and grieve those they lose in their lives. You guys finally have given Coco his best little life, you are such special people!❤
Well said- this little guy just melts your heart, to think of all he’s been through for so long.. and it’s wonderful he has a little companion to share his remaining years with also, as well as these two wonderful humans! The intelligence and sensitivity of parrots is truly amazing- I wonder if he verbalizes at all- probably not, though, as they would have showed that.. loved this🥰🥰
what type of parrot is Koko? im willing to buy one from my local animal store
Yes, sadly a huge percentage of parrots end up in multiple homes because they can live to be 100 years old and too often older humans buy them as babies. Also people didn’t realize how sensitive they are until very recently, and kept them as ornaments in tiny cages with no chance to fly around, no toys, only seed to eat. I’m so glad that Koko is able to be out of a cage, and be loved and cared for.
@@The_DicksterAdopt, don’t shop. Too many available parrots need good homes with people who know what they’re doing. And get two, not one. They’re flock animals and need to be with their kind.
@@goodgrief888 never got one, its like an 8 hour drive here in egypt to the closest one for adoption and they are expensive as shit.
He found the right home to retire in. I hope he lives another 15 years with love and comfort.
I'm glad Koko's later years will be filled with love & friendship. Elder humans need that, too ❤
Yes !
I don't understand how anyone can abuse an animal.
Guess I just have different standards and appreciation for ALL life than pond scum does.
Be kind to pets, and each other.
✌❤
@@notme2dayPeople have terrible ideas about how animals “need to be dominated.” I have rescue birds and I am on bird groups to be able to share ideas about these sensitive animals. There are people on these groups (usually older people) who say horrible things about how you “need to keep them in their place” as “subordinate” to humans. I don’t understand this mindset as I believe that every being responds so much better with love and kindness.
@@Bingewatchingmediacontent Neither animal or people need to be dominated, only loved and respected. Some people just don't understand respecting nature.
It's sad.
@@Bingewatchingmediacontent True. I never used that dominant/submissive technique with my dog because she was already calm and sensitive. The way you approach your dog depends on the dog. The same concept probably applies to people as well.
He’s doing quite well for an 84 year old bird. Hope he has many more years to come.
I was so sad to learn that Koko was abused by a previous owner. How can anyone hurt such a sweet, innocent little soul? Thank you to this wonderful, kind-hearted couple for adopting him and giving him his best life in his golden years. I'm so happy that he also has his bird friend Chico too. Thank you so much for sharing this heartwarming story. 💚💚
How can people abuse animals? They bring us so much joy and trust us as their caregivers. So happy this beautiful bird is happy ❤
That broke my heart to hear his previous owner hit him! 😢
That's the sad thing about pets. They either don't live long enough or they have such long lives, they often have sad endings (losing the person who loved them and facing an uncertain future, or more often, being bought by someone who ends up not being able to commit that kind of time).
The way I see it, the only reason today to have a pet is to adopt one you are saving from something.
@@SebaBuenoHaceMusiquitaJijiji Whilst true in general and should be the first option, humans often want to bring up their pet from small. Be it to grow up with children or other personal reasons. It's like saying nobody should have children unless they adopt. To me buying a guinea pig at a store is rescuing btw. Our cats were both from shelters. One a kitten who lived for 20 years. If they get love and care, that is good enough for me.
I think in general, I’m against the keeping of parrots, or any other animal that lives longer than humans. It’s just not fair to the animal to be shuttled from place to place to place, which is just inevitable.
@@dingo1666 any animal you buy in any store, you might be saving it from the store, but since market rules apply in pet shops, if the pet shop owner see he sold a Guinea Pig, since they see animals as inventory, dont you think the owner will replace it with a new one?
The ownew will take your money, and use it to buy another. And that means there is a place were they are being breed, and animals plus money? Oh, thats equal suffering at some point. You might create all the laws you want, but there is always gonna be someone in the basement breaking them. And since money usage is not transparent, and you cant go and see who are the providers of a store, you can be so easily fooled. My parents were, they thought they were helping our parrot, years later when I became selfaware and wanted to legaly be family with it, it was impossible: the store didnt exist anymore, the owner lost all the documents if they ever existed. And with parrots? There are always victims, maybe not the one you are buying, but you can bet their syblings probably suffered and some died in the procces.
You need to have generational commitment if you're planning to take care of an animal that has a lifespan comparable to that of a human. You need a succesion plan.
Wow84years old. He's very handsome.❤🦜😍
Seeing Coco sleep on the couch melts my heart. So touching! 🥹 Blessings to Coco, Chico, and their loving humans! ❤
Koko is living his best life with the best family. It warms my heart that he is spending his last years with people who love him and he has a parrot friend too.
I'm 60 years old and I don't think I've ever seen a bird older than myself...but I'm glad that he is with the family who will see him through his final years with such care and attention. God bless...
Ok Boomer
Well, there are a lot of birds that live upto 120 years in capacity. Eg cockatoos, other parrots. Flamingos normally live until 20 years and the zoo in my state lived until 83 years old, he was put down to medical problems, so sad.
Oh, I forgot to add. Birds get attached to their owners, and we shouldn't keep them because of how long they live. They have feelings, too. If you have one, the only way to stop them from dying a broken heart as they call it, is socialise them with other nice kind people a lot, etc and with someone who can take care of them if something happens to you.
Not sure if they're his final years. The fear that society creates about ageing, etc. itself kills 50% of the actual long lifetime humans and other creatures are supposed to live, healthily.

He's even been through WW2!
He's at an absolutely fantastic age for a parrot 😊❤ . Here's to many more birthdays for this beautiful boy❤❤❤
It reminds of the film "Paulie". Coco would be a great storyteller...so happy he ginslly has a safe and living place to be.
Yes, and in The Netherlands, one of the most beautiful countries on Earth.
Not only WW2, Koko went thru the Cold Wars of the 50s, the War on Nam, the oil crisis, the Cosovo cold War, the Falklands trouble, the financial downturn, 911, the Blackout, and Covid

@@khills Koko didn't light the fire!
This is so emotional. Thank you for taking care of them.I wish and hope he will go to a100 years of age.❤😊
So emotional
I cry over a lot of these stories, but this one hits especially hard. I think that's due to Koko's age, knowing that he's been through so much in all his years. (Koko also is older than my dad [RIP]; that thought, somehow, makes me more emotional about his story.) Despite his hardships, he still is trucking in his elder years and deserves all the love and attention lavished upon him. 🥰
@@PrayingForTruth I do, too. It makes me so sad to see the effects of abuse of these precious souls. I'll never understand how the human heart can ever willingly embrace cruelty and hatred. It destroys the soul and makes life unbearable.
God bless these people for showing such love and compassion for little Koko and providing his last forever home. I'm so glad they understand how standing on a perch is hard for him to do and allow him to rest on a flat surface.🥰
@@PrayingForTruth seeing Koko and the story. I'm about to cry honestly. I'm already almost crying on the inside.

84 years old. I can only hope to be in as good shape when I am his age. He is fortunate that he found new humans who truly have his best interests at heart and love him unconditionally.
I want to hug him (carefully, of course) so bad. What a sweet little old man! 😘 ♥
I thought my parrot was old, he is 35, I’m glad to know he might live longer
With parrots and tortoises you need to plan ahead as depending on the age at which you got your bird, he/she could out live you. The best!
Amazing!! You are so fortunate to have a beautiful little feathered friend!!
Please, if I may...can you please plan for ur little buddies future if something (God forbide!!) should happen to you?
There are so many bird rescues that are full to over capacity. Some, sadly, have issues that get so out of hand that the critters end up suffering.
Sadly, I have seen this with my own eyes.
I, too, have rescued little budgies.
I'm so glad ur little buddy is safe in ur care.
Please, plan for the future.
God bless you and your little parrot!!

What kind of person hits a bird?
@@serena6740 oh yea. You had me until you used “narcissist” the most fucking overused new word you all learned over the last 5 years.
And yes I understand people eat animals. But it doesn’t take a “narcissist” to eat an animal, that’s called a human. “We” humans have been doing that since we evolved, or if you want to believe his just placed us on the planet. We’ve been eating animals. Maybe the soy is getting to your brain.
Again, I rhetorically ask more like state “who hits a bird” I know who it’s limp worsted girlie soyboys that can’t deal with their emotions who frankly like 50% of all of you just be removed from the planet. You’re using up resources for others that are normal and trying on a daily basis.

What a sweet old gentleman parrot, he deserves all the love he can get in his golden years.
My vet has a double yellow head amazon parrot named Walter who is 40 years old. I believe these birds can live to be around 85. I'm very glad Koko has a loving home now
What lovely people!! Taking care of the beautiful old boy!
That is wonderful he loves them. Because long-lived parrots do not usually accept love from strangers. This is a 1 in a million thing.
I'm 60 years old and my galah, Australian gray and pink parrot is 30 years old. Very loving bird ,I've had him from a baby, follows me around at home and loves cuddling.
It's AMAZING to realize some animals. like Koko, are that old. We tend to think of them as young kids because they are so cute, small, and dependent on us. As much as the world has changed in his lifetime (technology and such), I suspect his greatest pleasure remains companionship and a loving touch. True for most people too!
Koko is beautiful, and so is Chico! People underestimate birds and how affectionate they truly are. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

I just fallen in love with Koko. I love that he has such an amazing fighting spirit, a zest for life, even at his delicate age of 84, and I especially love how forgiving & loving that he is with humans, even though, at some point in his life, he was cruelly abused. ❤Wow! Sweet boy. I’m so happy he can live out his final years surrounded by love, well-cared for, and with a bird friend. Wishing Koko many more years.
Poor thing changing homes so many times. They become so bonded with their owners.
Lots of hugs 🤗🤗🤗🤗 Koko
Imagine, this old fella saw WW2 (not sure when he became blind, but at least figuratively), Cold War (to its end), Korean War, Vietnam War, both Gulf Wars, and now the 3rd decade of a new century. No wonder he's the head honcho of the house. :) Thanks for taking care of Koko, he deserves it. BTW, how old is Chico? If he's under 30, then he'd be in the range of a grandson. Even 60 or younger would easily make him a son's age. By the looks of him, I'd guess he's in the grandson range.

What a sweet little gentleman he is, it’s heartwarming to know he is loved so much by his human parents ❤️🐾 thank you for showing this little one kindness and love
Oh, how wonderful that he has a loving home and a bird friend. It’s sad to see them in captivity, but he is living his best life.
Well, seeing as he’s blind, ( wonder for how long- hope it wasn’t due to the abuse he suffered) Coco wouldn’t be able to survive in the wild now anyways, and it’s also quite possible he might not have lived this long in the wild, despite a former abusive owner… if a parrot has to be captive, they certainly deserve the kind of owners Coco and Chico are so fortunate to have right now- bless these people❤
Brave Koko may you enjoy many more years of good life with your lovely humans ❤❤❤
