Hey there. I just got me a setup like that but with a naomi2. My question is what do use to power up the naomi board? I was told if I use the capcom io board it will not work. It doesn’t have enough juice to run this set up. I was told I have to use a sega power supply with the corresponding 12v, 5v and 3.3v.

hotcuervo You don’t have to use a Sega Naomi power supply, you can use a regular power supply if your using a Capcom IO board. The Capcom IO board converts the voltage to 3.3v from the regular power supply that is connecting jamma. Now when I did my setup, I thought you needed a Sega Naomi power at first, so I bought a cable that converts an ATX pc power supply to Sega Naomi but I had no way to plug in that and the Capcom IO board so I wired 12v, 5v, to the power supply from jamma and the Capcom IO converts the power to 3.3v with the other voltages. That Capcom IO board makes things a lot easier because it takes care of power and audio and video (converts jamma into vga)

Are you able to list the parts? Or is it too many?

    • @Alpha17x
      @Alpha17x 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Here you go.
      for NAOMI
      - Sega Naomi Mainboard
      - Sega Naomi NetDIMM (goes into the gameboard slot)
      - Sega Naomi compatible power supply
      - Sega Naomi compatible I/O board
      - A control board compatible with the I/O board
      - possibly a kick harness which allows for 6 button games.
      For the Raspberry PI
-Pi with an Ethernet Port (Gen1 B or higher)
-SD Card (min 8gb class 10)
      -Adafruit LCD Shield
-Crossover RJ-45 Cable (The network cable)
      -Micro USB Cable
      -Jumper Wires with Female Connector
The software being used 9 times out of 10 is 'PiForce'
Assuming you already have a NAOMI, or most of a NAOMI, this doesn't really cost too terribly much to do if you buy the parts and put in the work for it. Otherwise there are kits out there to speed things up for you, but you do pay a premium.
With patience you can get a full set up like this for around $300 USD (not including the cabinet, monitor, or speakers) And there are also people successfully selling complete kits along with self-assembled cabinets for $800+.
If you're familiar with arcade hardware you're probably good to go just do some research on the Naomi and 'Naomi netboot' and you'll be on track either way.
it's a worthwhile project for any enthusiast.

Naomi works fine on my Pi 4 without the expensive Naomi Rig and some slight overclock. Naomi runs very close 100% before the overclock. Save your money for better things: cab upgrades, light-up marquee, led lights, happ buttons, arcade sticks, etc...
