I did the same thing with my grandpa. He had an old ZX chassis mxzx 800 I guess a special edition or colour that he spring ordered, he blew it up when I was a year old and it sat in the shed for over 16 years. I threw a built 700 mod motor in it with twin pipes with him… I will forever cherish and look back fondly on that memory, awesome stuff and badass sled!
Well it’s official….. u have the coolest grandpa! That’d be pretty awesome if u got it going and all u guys including grandpa Steve went shreddin’! I enjoy ur videos keep em coming!
I have a 2003 800 REV RER short track with the X package. It has 11k miles on it. I rebuilt the crank and top-end at 10k miles. It has new ski's and track. I will never sell this one. It will lift the ski's straight up in the air easy and it handles like its on rails. Mine is 9/10 condition still, looks like new.
very cool! i have a very similar story with my parents snowmobile (which is now mine, a 2004 rev) as well as growing up snowmobiling! (we seem to be around same age too which is neat) my dad originally bought an 03 summit 600 144" and that was the sled i grew up riding on, then my mom got an 04 rev mxz renegade 137 new the next year and these sleds really shapes my childhood. love them dearly. engine on the rev was tired so just a few weeks ago i did a rebuild on the top end. (my first time in an engine) i bought some SLP rail extensions, my dad has a 144 1.75 track from his summit im going to get to use, since he replaced his w/ a bigger paddle, some second hand torsion springs, spring guides, and im going to be freshening up the skid this weekend hopefully! just thought it was cool that this video popped up in my feed and it seems we are basically doing the same thing with relatable backstory (for lack of better words!) at nearly the same time!
@@shmilk that it so cool that you’re doing that! I think those of us in our 20s and 30s spent a lot of time on these sleds growing up. It was the talk of the industry. I think we’re going to see more projects like this happening the older we get haha
You should see how much $$ you gotta dump to make it like a 2024 2025 .. suspension .. gauges .. skies . Shocks .. Then people might stop complaining about the price of today's sleds .. Them 2004 were wicked back in the day🤘
@@raypara4036 I’m thinking that after this rebuild series, we might do some updates to it! We’ve been talking about it. Narrow front end, shocks, 154 with a 2.5” or a 163. Newer running boards. Smaller seat. So much to do!

@@ckfarmz thank you!! You read our minds!! That’s the next video for sure. Hoping to get my grandpa out and get us some Christmas trees!
@ I’ll be waiting for that video!
First gen revs are my weakness. I got a gen 4 freeride 850 and id trade it any day for a clean gen 1

Bro! We need to get that Phazer and rebuild that!
@@SARMedic307 haha Riley grew up on a Phazer!! That should be his sentimental sled project!
Will this sled be added to the rental line up?! Haha Awesome project!
Continent? Lol😂
Let us know what we should do to Grandpa Steve’s sled!
V-force reeds was a great upgrade on those 800s.
@ that’s good to know! Gramps had Boyesen Reeds in it
What is grandpa Steve’s guiding fee?
A couple packs of smokes and you pull his skis all day 🤣🤣
@@sledwyo so basically an apprenticeship for being a tail guide…..
