Good idea , with the leftovers you can make some jewellery or kind of art , it's soft aluminium so there are many ideas , but always be carefully as they are sharp.

I don't know if the balls in aluminium cans are better quality than plastic ball cans .

Duct tape is good enough to connect the cans but you can use paper duct tape if you want to be cleaner
