    I love your videos. Invincible is my fav. youre not playing the jambi riff quite right . He plucks like you are but then hits the next string down same fret pulls right through them both. your finger lands on the next string down and pulls through that note as well in a triplet fashion. Its kinda hard to do at first. I saw some dude point this out that many people miss this and hes right. Otherwise i learn a lot from your videos

    • @PigPharmaceuticals

      When you have the gain, tone, and distortion dialed in just right it gives the pulloffs a nice crunchy texture that makes them sound like they're being picked. It's the same way in Jambi.

    EDIT: Ok, I got to the half of the video. He starts mentioning palm-muting and transforming between clean riffs in the intro into heavy distortion in the outro. So, no worries, it's all introduced and explained once one gets a good grasp of the harmony and picking

      I'd suggest getting a nice distorted sound and then pull back the volume a good amount for the first couple of minutes. To make it sound more 'Tool' use some delay (!) and maybe a little Flanger if you have one. But to be honest the real Tool-Tone is all in the timing and imitating the way Adam Jones plays it. :b

      obv im not who you were asking but just thought id share my opinion , as you said it does all come down to preference but I personally find it easier to count 4 then 3, and i think thats especially easier for someone whos used to counting in four already, even though I get the same result counting 3 first then 4 or counting straight to seven it still just doesnt feel right in my head to either count that short at first, or count that long at once.

    Interesting how every video I find on TH-cam has comments that are gushing how great the video was, even if may not be that great.
    Dude, don't get me wrong. I am not saying it's a bad video. It's just not very helpful to someone who is very new to playing guitar.
    I am very new to it. I just started learning how to play a few months ago. But I have one big advantage. I was a classically trained pianist in my youth, so, even though I don't know guitar chords (not yet) I am really good at picking sounds. For someone like me, saying "it's essentially D minor chord" is not enough. I need someone to show me exactly where to put my fingers, one note at a time. You started by showing finger positions but stopped after the very first chord and the rest of the video was rushed.
    Was your intention to record this as an "Invincible" tutorial for seasoned guitar players only?
    Anyway. I figured it out. I can't play it, not very well, but without stumbling and without fine details. Just wish it was a little easier to learn. There is nobody else on TH-cam who does a detailed walkthrough of this song.

    • @axeofcreation
      @axeofcreation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get it my man but you have to realize a couple things. This is a long and complicated song so yes I'm going to assume you know some things as a viewer. I can't take time to start explaining what a "minor chord" is during a tutorial like this. The guitar has many many chord voicings. Plus I also have many Drop D lessons where i teach such things. Use that as an opportunity to learn your instrument, how to play intervals, and slowly develop your chord knowledge. I hope you can learn this song (tabs help) and others like it in the months to come. Good luck on your guitar journey.

      @@axeofcreation I did learn from it, though it was a little hard. Thank you.
      Drop D was actually a big eye-opener for me. I learned to play 46 & 2 by ear, without Drop D, so obviously I did it incorrectly. But you can't play Invincible without it, so I tuned it down for the first time, and then I saw how much easier it became to play 46 & 2.

    “I didn’t like this song at first” - me after listening to literally every new tool song.

    I never noticed the similarities between Invincible and Lost Keys. God damn.
