  • Stopping things from falling through dehydrator trays or from sticking to the racks can be a pain - but this is where liner sheets come to the rescue!! I'll give my suggestions and thoughts about popular brands and some alternatives to help you save a little money!
    I did forget to add - I don't recommend wax paper or aluminum foil in a dehydrator. But Saran Wrap (better plastic wrap) can be used for wrapping a tray for fruit leather.

    You taught me how to reduce veggie (and chicken or beef) stock to a syrup then dry and powder. The stock (especially when made of rotisserie chicken bones) will leave a salty, gritty residue on the liner if removed when completely dried and cooled. To minimize the residue, when almost dry and still warm, peel the stock-sheet up and flip it over onto it's shiny side back on the liner to finish drying. Like you, I hate to waste anything! As always, thank you for everything!

    Darcy, thank you for addressing this!! I've used nonstick sheets for dehydrators, dollar store cutting Matt's, fruit leather sheets, parchment paper. All work well. I bought some small nonstick cookie sheets from Walmart that fit in my 9 tray excalibur for 1.00-2.00 each for anything liquidy, halfway through I flip. Perfect no, but works. I tried clips on sheets, I got aggravated!! Things that fly when you're opening and checking, I started to put 2nd mesh on top. These are things that frustrated me. I continually look for work arounds. Easier things I can wash since I don't have a dishwasher. I'm also greatful for your remark on stains!!! No matter what I do, stains are there!!!

    I solved the tear seam problem on using regular brand freezer bags on my vac sealer ! as I put the bag in my vac sealer I layered an extra strip of another bag piece ( cut one bag into strips- making it 3 layers of the freezer bag on the heat strip,) than Vacuum as normal. Do let it cool for a few seconds & lift off. no seam ripping! So happy I dont have to waste 4 boxes of Glad freezer bags! To vac: I use one strip pc put down into the middle of the bag, (that was cut off the zipper & cut off the thick ribs & using the less thick ribs for this to vacuum.). success. hope I explained it ok.

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't like ANY of the hard plastic fruit leather sheets - Cosori, Nesco, etc. They are non-flexible when I need flexibility. So they are single-use for me, and I prefer to just use them to keep the machine clean and use a multi-use item like a fruit leather sheet that is flexible, useful for more things, and doesn't stick as much. It's a personal preference.
