@@AVM-Musicoh my! Really? You’re entitled to your opinion of course but the Alfa V6 sounds just glorious to me! If they’d done a RWD transaxle V6 155 I would own one already!
This car did not take part in the DTM, This is the 2 liter naturally aspirated 4 cylinder Super Touring version that took part in BTCC in 1994, this particular car has been upgraded with 95 aero kit though.
I was lucky enough to go to the opening round of BTCC on Easter Monday 1994 at Thruxton where, I seem to recall, this car had its debut in the UK. I think the rear wing was controversial at the time but became homologated for all cars in due course. It was also not only the debut of the Volvo Estate but the era of the Williams Renault Laguna driving by Jason Plato. Such a great spectacle and great memories from 30 years ago!
Williams took over the Renaults in 1995, and Jason Plato joined Renaults BTCC team for 1997. In 1994, the Renault Lagunas ( which were new for 94 ) were driven by Alain Menu and Tim Harvey, and in 95-96 by Alain Menu and Will Hoy...
Yes but DTM cars may as well have been spaceships. At least BTCC cars looked like road cars. In fact this car caused an argument in the BTCC paddock because this car had spoilers & the road car did not!
This is the 2 liter naturally aspirated 4 cylinder Super Touring version used in the BTCC 1994, but with 95 aero fitted, not the 2.5 liter V6 DTM version
A 2 liter naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engine, with around 300 hp, and a revlimit of 8500 rpm. All super touring cars ( which this is ) had to have 2 liter naturally aspirated engines with around 300 hp and an 8500 rpm revlimit. This racing engine is a bit of a mix between a Fiat rally car engine block and the cylinder head from the Lancia Delta HF Integrale, the super touring car rules said that you could use any 2 liter n/a engine with a maximum of 6 cylinders from your parent company, as you wished, and Fiat owned both Lancia and Alfa Romeo, and the Delta HF Integrale engine was already used in the road going Alfa Romeo Q4, so it was not as far fetched after all.
I can hear Murray Walker in the background yelling Tarquini!
Absolut 🏁
Love this era of BTCC - I just built a '97 Volvo S40 BTCC model and this car should be released as a model kit soon too.
Tamiya did the kit maybe 20 years ago or so. Had it at one point.
Just because this isn't the V6 Ti version, doesn't mean this isn't still one of the greatest touring cars of all time!
The 155 is beautiful in all its forms, be it stock or Touring Car.
I always thought the four cylinder sounded better in racing variant

@@K1lostream in racing form, yes. Road going? For noise it’ll be the V6
It kinda does😅
That's an angry face, love it!
Sounds like a killer bee

I turned up for that race in my 155. Nobody blinked an eye on the way in; everyone wanted to know all about it when I went back to it...
Iconic
Grande Italia sempre nel cuore
Name a cooler racing car? Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI from the DTM...

The glory days of the DTM.

This is too dull a stretch of track for racing.
