    Hey Phillip, love your channel. Great share of your information on guitars and gear. Believe it or not I have an old Crate XT120R solid state amp that is able to cut through the mix and can hang with any 50 Watt tube head you can throw at it. I was amazed to find this out when a friend of mine put his 45 watt Marshall tube amp against my Crate solid state 120 watt 212 amp. And I didn't have to crank the volume past seven! Who would have thought! Hey, keep up the great work with your channel. I'm a die-hard subscriber!

    The merits of a PCB tube amp is that the sound will be uniform across nearly every amp coming off the line. When tube amps were in the past hand wired with turret boards amps could sound somewhat different, sometimes because of variances in some components and sometimes because of the quality of the soldering and assembly. Obviously there was a reason why some amps (and guitars) were exceptional. Just an opinion.

    The SE Custom 24 has the Korean 85/15 "S" pickups, whereas the CE 24 has full fat American 85/15 pickups. Just clarifying that it's not apples to apples.

    Another vote for the SX series! I've been tempted to get a Harley Benton and upgrade it - even though I own two PRS (McCarty Soapbar and Studio), the idea of a cheap beater is super appealing.

    Josh Collins - Chicken picks give a tone completely opposite from PrimeTone picks. Where the PrimeTones seem to accentuate the attack, the ChickenPicks seem to muffle it. They are extremely thick, but the bevel is so pronounced, the pick actually slides off the string, making it much easier to play than you would think for such a thick pick. They seem to be suited best for jazz, based on tone. Shipping takes quite a while. I believe I waited 3 weeks for mine. I bought a pair and passed on the sample pack. I bought them a year ago and have no desire for more. I seem to gravitate between Ultex and Tortex.

    Rondo was a small store in Union NJ when I was growing up. Then GC opened up a few miles down the highway then it was the beginning of the end. They do online only now. SX are cool but definitely review Agile too. Both from Rondo.

    I don't know if you got a chance to see Titan guitars by Kauer Guitars at NAMM, but I'd love to hear what you think about them. They offer one body shape, and then allow you to choose from some set colors, your choice of mastery bridge, Tele bridge cut just past the saddles, gotoh 6 saddle bridge, and bigsby options. From there you can order what ever configuration of 2-3 pickups you want! Coil splits, kill switches, and cocked wah switches are all options. HERE IS THE SELLING POINT FOR ME! All the electronics are attached to a pickguard and are only attached to the body via one disconnect able ground wire, allowing you to switch your own personal pickguard and pickup configurations very quickly. American made. Small shop of passionate people. Affordable! The kind of guitar that would make me stop buying guitars and save money by just buying new pickup configurations. I can ramble all day but perhaps you should just go see for yourself!

    Ampeg still make a line of tube bass amps, and Mesa Boogie makes the Prodigy. Oh, and that amp probably consumes less electricity than a 100watt lightbulb.

    hey phil, from the uk , just bought a fender amerian standard strat (burst is beautiful ) for a good price £ 980 new .but it's got quite a bit of buzzing and for some reason just doesn't feel as solid as my 1989 japanese fender strat ,also picked up a chapman ml1 for basically pennies from thomann and it's pretty good probably got a good price due to the new range coming out ,not sure about the whole moving to Indonesia from korea thing for the affordable range ,feels like a they are just going to be charging a whole lot more for the good korean ones now, I already have a couple of ml2's and love them so the move to Indonesia seems like a jip.

    12 string electric. For me, without a doubt, RICKENBACKER. If you can afford one. They just have THE tone. So easy to play. I have played one for some time (since the late 60's), and just love it. Depends also on what type of music you play, but unbeatable for classic rock, or whatever.

  • @sentforth5
    @sentforth5 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm a bit late to the conversation, but I have to say it is well worth buying even five or six SX guitars, acoustic and electric. I bought a little $79 acoustic and was astonished at the quality build and finish! The pickup is some cheapy crap that is unbalanced favoring the bass, but over-all it plays great and looks awesome. A bandmate has a candy apple red tele with a cheap trem on it, but I play that thing every saturday, and for 100 bucks I can hardly believe it. What witchery is this mad-hat Rondo music up to?
    OH! the acoustic had a very unpleasant SMELL to it that lasted a couple months...Lord knows what that was from.

    A 45Watt Fender Bassbreaker eats up 350Watt. So more than a TV, less than a Micro. (Just looked it up on Fender.com) Overall way less than a fridge/freezer. Solid state should eat less.
    I think some amps attenuates (space heater!), while others turn off a tube or similar (Victory does this). That said I don't know if neither does diddly squat for the transformer, etc, so we might be looking at 350 continuously.
    Either way, it's not insignificant, but it's nowhere near doubling unless you've got nothing but lights and TV at home.

    In my experience, if the drummer has a professional drum set and he bangs the Skins hard. You're not going to hear yourself unless you have a hundred watt Half Stack. My brother and I were in a metal band and had many members come and go. They all thought their 30 watt combo amps were fine, until they played with us. They couldn't hear what they were playing. Until they had hundred watt half stack.

I currently use guitar rig 5 pro but I want to move into actual amps here in the near future and since I'm not in a band and just bedroom player the 6505+ will most likely be too much amp for me. Hey Phil, what do you think about the Guitar Fetish bodies? I'm about to undertake a tele rebuild because of some damage that one of my tele's took, it's basically a total rebuild, new neck and body, I'm going to salvage all the hardware, but I don't want to spend a whole lot of money. I'm looking at getting a true fender (Mexican) replacement neck because of the aesthetics and I've heard the quality of other aftermarket necks are suspect, but I'm looking at the GFS bodies for price. Any thoughts?

If you go to Guitar Center and find International shipping www.guitarcenter.com/search?Ns=r&Ntt=international+shipping ... Then go shopping it will list the brands that are available to Egypt. Gibson, unfortunately, does not ship new, or used. Sorry!

    • @vechap
      @vechap 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's great! Good luck on your hunt for one... In the meantime, you can look at used Gibsons on Reverb, eBay, etc., at least that will give you some idea of the pricing. They do ship to Egypt, but only certain brands... When you put your country in on the page noted above, and you search for electric guitars, they show all the brands available to ship to Egypt. Gibson just doesn't happen to be one. It would be great to visit... Don't have that kind of money though. Best of luck!
