As a person that loves buying from thrift stores, I definitely appreciate not finding smelly items when I shop. Nothing worse than entering a shop that has a funky smell. ❤🐨
I also think thrifts are used as a “dump all” by many people, dumping off what really should be trash. Maybe that’s a part of the increase in prices, due to the extra time for them to sort out & throw away actual garbage.

@@PaperandMoose That's so true Renee. Our local Shops don't take donations from Christmas to February because they were sick of people dumping rubbish after Christmas. I enjoyed your video at the "eviction house". You've all made some incredible progress in clearing the stuff away. Your unneeded explanation as to keeping, donating, or offering furniture etc for free, was spot on. As tough as it may be for some, what it boils down to is sometimes trash is just trash. It can't be made better and has to be relegated to where it belongs - in the garbage. I totally agree, Renee. Even without the rules of thrift stores, this house is so filthy, you cannot even consider donating these things. Clothes, that are not too filthy, you can wash. But the stains in the furniture, the damage made by the teeth of dogs and mice, or by the claws of cats you cannot be washed away. And I am sure you, Tony and Taco Stacks made enough trips to the recycle centre and to the scrap yard make sure that enough stuff is recycled. The three of you do a great job.
Non workers are always willing to tell workers how they should conduct themselves. I've been doing these kinds of clean outs for over a decade. I call a women's shelter to check for needs, Habitat as well as a good charitable place to give stuff to, although that place you are working on would all go to the landfill except the metals, which I also sell to the recycling yards.
My thought is that if you wouldn't live with nasty old furniture why should people who maybe be the only ones able to afford it? I have heard people say 'poor people should be grateful for what they get' what a nasty thing to think. Put it where it should be - in the trash or on a bonfire!
You are exactly right...and if I bought a table or chair at a thrief store, you sure better hope their standards are as high as Renee's .....I don't want that in my house...🥰🥰
Much of the furniture you've tossed is also cheap particle board stuff. If in good condition, only $2 or $5 yard sale items. How often haven't we seen good quality, solid wood items out for FREE in Taco's videos? Your making progress and, I hesitate to say looking good, but possibly better? 🤔. Keep up the good work. Go rent a BNB with a big claw foot cast iron tub and soak when done! 👍👍
You are right don’t need or want the furniture that has been messed up the only things to keep should be the things that can be cleaned or washed and sanitized and the rest needs to go to the trash do not want anyone getting sick on that kind of stuff
If you donate junk or things that are unhealthy to have around other things, you are just making it someone else's problem. You make the right decision based on what you are experiencing in each place. Stay healthy and Happy New Year!
Renee enjoyed your video today . I have to say you were looking very pretty lady in your hat . Not so much in a mask 😷 . keep it up girl. 💚 💚 Love your little giggle s
You are so right about the mouse poop and things-- the smell will always be there know matter what you do to clean it . Also the smell will bring mice into where ever you put it. What you three are doing is the right thing to do. I love these videos but it is a lot of work. Take care all of you that you do not get sick. Love you three Patricia from Portland Oregon😋
Wow Renee, the mice/rats have just about ruined everything. I think that furniture in the beginning you were using the sledge hammer on us made from particle board. No wonder it soaked up the liquid. It's very cheap & destined for the dumpster. Keep the light on & your mask too. Sure hope you'll be done soon 😷💞👍
The house appears to be an 1870s Greek revival farmhouse, it’s a shame what the people who lived there did to it. I bet underneath all of the dirty carpet and wood paneling are the original hardwood floors and plaster walls. Thanks for showing the whole process of the clean out. Very interesting!
In an upcoming video, I show the beams in the basement. They are wide & look to be rather old! As you said, I’m sure it was a wonderful house in its’ early days!
Hi Renee. Listen. You can only do what is right for you and your friend. Do not donate any thing that has stuff on them. I am so happy that you are doing so many nice things for other's. God Bless you Renee. You are a jem. Take care and have a wonderful day. Mari'a. 👍👍👍👍🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘😘
I love your sense of humor. That was probably a ghost and not Taco Stacks. I can't imagine going into a thrift store and finding a dresser or chair with mouse pee on it. I won't donate anything I wouldn't have in my house and I'm pretty laid back, but mouse pee and poo is a no no.
I DO NOT blame you for not donating that furniture!!!! I remember last year at the thrift store I worked at this one day I went on break and I came back and our back room (which I had finally gotten most of the donations processed) was completely FULL of donations from this guy that my coworker was afraid to say no to (because we were technically not supposed to say no within reason) and it was baby toys and furniture, which we didn’t take and other junks and EVERYTHING had mouse poop and pee ALL over it! I wanted to cry! I had to literally Jenga everything into the dumpster! So as Renee has so wisely said think about it before you donate it. Basically use your common sense, if you wouldn’t want it, the thrift store most likely doesn’t want it!
Always good to read one of your thrift stories! People have good intentions, most of the time, when it comes to donating, but there are some things that need to end up in the trash. The one thrift shop by me goes through periods of time where they look at everything that is donated and will refuse some items, though I think that's mostly due to lack of space. Not sure if they receive a discounted garbage rate, but I'm sure they can go through a decent amount of trash depending on the condition of what is donated.
Hello Renee. I’m with you on not donating furniture that’s nasty even if you tried to clean it it’s still going to smelly . And as for washing nasty clothes in my washer and dryer nope not gonna happen. Now if I could use a old washer and dryer that needed gotten rid of maybe if I could save the items but otherwise I’m not gonna. It’s not worth it. And I wouldn’t want to donate to a animal shelter because that could make animals sick. So tossing is best. Great job Renee. Stay safe and be careful. 🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🥰🥰🫖☕️🫖☕️🥰🥰💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I know Tony looked a little bit on his phone, but couldn't find that exact card so it's in the research pile. That would be great if it was worth something, even $10 would be cool! It was in a sleeve and in nice shape, a shock for this house!
I agree with you about donating any of that furniture they were disgusting. What and how did you guys dispose of all that ammo you found. I swear that house needs to bulldozed and the grounds set a blaze to clean up that rats nest. There is no way of cleaning that place for anyone to live in. OMG, OMG, OMG. Renee please stay safe in there and I hope you keep your immune system up and get a tetanus shot.
The fishing & hunting gear were quick sellers at the flea market. I found a Dan Marino football card that might be an early one, so that could be worth... $10? Haha. No idea what that is worth, we have to do a bit more research.
Might it be possible to rig a chute out of jerry-rigged duct work or old wooden ladder with sides nailed on to slide the debris from the 2nd floor directly into the dumpster?

You use that sledge hammer so deliberately 😂😂😂😂! Good work on the clean out , what a Massive achievement 😊
Here in mn we don't take anything unless it is new!!
Most of the crap is garbage!!
You do what you think is right. Your job
I agree 100% do not donate it belongs in the trash! I can’t believe what some people want to donate🤦♀️
Ignore the people who don’t get, or don’t understand what you do.
Take care Renee! Hope you get lucky soon.🤗💙☮🌞🌴
I agree with you. I just can't hardly breath around the animal poop, pee & hair. I wish everyone had the same courtesy as you. Thank you!
I agree..most of the stuff is ugh!👍🤔
Dang... it was really dark in there. Like the basement in silence of the lambs dark.
Ugh, still surprised we didn’t find any secret hidden rooms or cubby holes!
when you do a clean out do you have to sweep and pull carpet like the one in the video?
We will sweep up a little, but we’ve already let the client know that we don’t remove carpeting.
When it comes to work every good teacher taught me the Kiss principle 💜🙃 that's why they call it Work not Fun.🌀 But sometimes u get Lucky.
Habitat restore is a nice place to look for furniture but the ones near me are beyond affordable
Agreed, Verette!
DAN MARINO CARD HE STARTED IN 1983 MIGHT BE WORTH LOOKIN IT UP
I know Tony looked a little bit on his phone, but couldn't find that exact card so it's in the research pile. That would be great if it was worth something, even $10 would be cool! It was in a sleeve and in nice shape, a shock for this house!
Did you save the velvet painting/s?
We did!
...damn girl, you do the trade right ... jes' sayin' ...
Is this house going to be renovated?
Yes. As to what extent, not sure. I know it’s going to be gutted & after that, not sure what they have in mind.
It stinks that we can't rescue everything, but sometimes things are just too far gone...
Isn’t Taco Stacks your lighting crew😉🤭😂😂😂😂💯🙏🏻🥳🕊❤️😊
Haha, that's a good one!
Did you find anything good from that place??
The fishing & hunting gear were quick sellers at the flea market. I found a Dan Marino football card that might be an early one, so that could be worth... $10? Haha. No idea what that is worth, we have to do a bit more research.
Might it be possible to rig a chute out of jerry-rigged duct work or old wooden ladder with sides nailed on to slide the debris from the 2nd floor directly into the dumpster?
Maybe I missed it in the previous videos, but where are the critters now? Did they all scurry away when y’all showed up? 🤣
We haven't found any alive, only dead ones.
