Very nice. Dilla is well respected in the producer community! Him and Nujabes were one of the first lofi producers. You and your dad should check out slum village!
J Dilla isn't simply a lo-fi producer it's actually disrespectful to refer to him as just that he's simply the best hip-hop producer to have ever lived.
I couldn't wait for you guys to review the late great J Dilla and hopefully this leads you to one of my favorite Dilla produced projects, Common "Like Water for Chocolate" which I think is a very slept on album albeit I am from Chicago 😂😂😂. J Dilla actually died from complications of lupus. There is a video for Dilla song release "Won't Do" that is somewhat of a tribute to him featuring his little brother , Common, The Roots and more in the video. R.I.P. Dilla
J Dilla has a very dense, complex production style. It’s very jazzy and a lot of jazz artists respect him a musician which is big for a Hip Hop artist. Also, you check out Dilla’s Slum Village produced stuff.
J Dilla imo is the greatest producer of all time! No other producers music does what J Dilla's music does to me, it just transports you to a different dimension! Somewhere else far away from all negativity! It is just so amazing!! R.I.P. Dilla Dawg.
has dad heard Jazmine Sullivan? I feel like she has anmatched vocal range and agility but still maintains a soulful tone that dad would love. Lyrically I feel like she's more of a rapper than a typical singer in that her vernaicular is very... of the time wehre most r&b singers are more classic timeless with their lyrics. Her albums are super conceptual, her lyrics are very real, sometimes shocking, and often funny like a rapper. She's super unique. I think you should react to Heaux Tales. She's been nominated for more than a dozen grammy's and that album was her first win. It has a really cool cohesive concept and there's a short version "Heaux Tales" and a full album "Heaux Tales and Mo Tales"
Great video man! You’ve earned a sub from me! Dilla is easily one of, if not my favorite producer of all time (he’s right up there with Primo). Dude is just an absolute legend and was taken too soon from this world 💔. I’m a massive fan of his and have got some great songs for you and your dad to listen to next that he produced! These are some of my favs. Not sure if you’ve listened to these before, but I’ll list ‘em anyways haha. - E=mc2- J Dilla - Runnin- The Pharcyde - Drop- The Pharcyde - Colors Of You- Talib Kweli, Mike Posner -Thelonius-Common, Slum Village - Move- Q Tip - Much More- De La Soul, Yummy - Fall in Love- Slum Village - Stakes is High- De La Soul - Featuring Phat Kat- J Dilla - Shake it Down- J Dilla - Certified feat Bilal- Guru - 1nce Again (feat Tammy Lucas)- ATCQ - Get a Hold- ATQC - The Red- Madlib and J Dilla (search this one on YT) - Pretty much any song from Yancey Boys - all absolute bangers - Again, any song from Donuts, fkn goated album. Happy listening :)) 🍩🍩
Nice listening along with you guys this blew my mind when i first heard it like you guys say weather you think dilla is the goat or not he is too me no ones music makes me feel how dillas does hes the goat to me :)
I think you and your father would very much enjoy listening to a track called (Nujabes - Hikari) produced by another legendary Hip-Hop producer, Nujabes. Some little info on J-Dilla and Nujabes. - Both born on the 7th of Feburary in 1974 on literal opposite ends of the world (Detroit, US/Tokyo, Japan) - both individually became influential in the same industry/artistic sphere specifically to the same genre. - Both considered to be godfathers of modern lofi despite their own styles contrast each other - Both passed away in February, same month as their birthday's.
Nujabes wasn't nearly as influential in the industry a J Dilla but resonated heavily with white suburbia mainly leading to the gentrification of beat-making which is now called lofi. Lofi thinks that J Dilla's groove can be emulated with quintuplets. Y'all are mostly lost souls who don't feel it which is why you have to stoop so low as to look for work-arounds to have something sound more human by applying just another strict rule. Dumb as hell. Lofi as a genre is a speck of dust on the spectrum that is J Dilla's discography.
A suggestion if possible. "Mýa - Real Compared to What" features Common (don't know if he's listed though) and produced by Questlove (of The Roots) The song was on Mýa's album 'Moodring' and even had a video that was a longform commercial for Coca~Cola I believe.
Yes please listen to donuts with pops!!! That should be a treat! But please do more research dont second guess yourself and i say this with love not with malice!! Peace bro!! Keep teaching ur pops!!! I wish i could do the same
Couldn't agree more with "Dad" on this one. Even how the 'Be' album seems to have grown on him with each listen...I bought that album when it dropped and feel exactly the same way. My only critique of this song is that the beat and D'Angelo feature are so pure and perfect that I almost can't stand Common sort of being a caricature of himself on this song. To the point I'd literally rather just listen to the instrumental on it. And in ways, as much as I'm a fan of common, I think he's just a wholesome person who's greater at picking beats and being himself than necessarily being a great artist who really takes advantage of the production he gets set up for. In NFL terms he's Emmitt Smith.
Not sure if you are open to listening to The Strokes… but I’d like to see your reactions to Reptilia or Automatic Stop. Or a reaction to Everlong by Foo fighters
Love the reactions, keep up the good work. .....👊👊..... i want your next reaction to be Eminem....... 2023 song... called Never be alone.... i think your dad will love this vulnerable side of Em...... shout out all the way from South Africa...
Great job fellas. I would like to introduce u to another artist that is going to blow u away. Check out The Goddess MC Sa-Roc. I recommend starting with her track Forever off of her album The Sharecroppers Daughter. It is a masterpiece
When YOUR dad says "how awesome it is to have D'Angelo an Common together?", you know your responsibility as a son is DONE. :)
Very nice. Dilla is well respected in the producer community! Him and Nujabes were one of the first lofi producers. You and your dad should check out slum village!
Most Definitely!!!!
With matching Birthdays as well!!
J Dilla isn't simply a lo-fi producer it's actually disrespectful to refer to him as just that he's simply the best hip-hop producer to have ever lived.
@@legm5298 absolutely! And imo Tall Black Guy isn’t
Oh look, another casual who knows nothing about the history of beat-making.
I just love how you and dad bond through music. Just terrific!
Man if ice cream was a song.... so cold and smooth. J Dilla, Common and D'Angelo is a dangerous combo
The sample is from The Isley Brothers "Don't Say Goodnight (It's Time for Love)"
Wow this is one of my fav Common songs...both versions. You have such good music taste!
I couldn't wait for you guys to review the late great J Dilla and hopefully this leads you to one of my favorite Dilla produced projects, Common "Like Water for Chocolate" which I think is a very slept on album albeit I am from Chicago 😂😂😂. I'm glad that you're uploading more often again
We are happy to hear that, thanks!
One of my very favorite songs.
Love the whole album
Likewise. 🙌🏽
I have to agree with dad. The BE album just grows on you. It has a distinct tonality that draws you in. Has like an old soul feel.
Grows! That was my freshman year of college and I couldn't stop playing it.
@@ItsGivingBrandNew I was about to say it didn't grow. I think it's the best album by Common and one of the best Hip Hop albums ever.
Next reaction should be J.Dilla’s song “Won’t Do” one of my favorite songs of all time 🔥🙏🏽 best samples on that song
Classic. That song got me through a lot 💯
@@elijahebbert6884 Exactly! Same here
That sample is insane
Absolutely cannot wait for your dad to hear Donuts! All my best, fellas.
This song is also on Common’s 2007 album Finding Forever.

great song and so beautiful to witness such a chill father and son bond ❤
One of my Dilla faves as well also bigups to the Isley Bros.
Dilla changed my life ❤
The fact that you are reviewing this is legendary!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching. (dad)
J Dilla imo is the greatest producer of all time! No other producers music does what J Dilla's music does to me, it just transports you to a different dimension! Somewhere else far away from all negativity! It is just so amazing!! R.I.P. Dilla Dawg.
You should definitely have your dad listen to "Won't Do" by J-Dilla! That beat is craaaazy... literally one of my favorites.
I love this song!!!
Jdilla is a legend!!
J dilla is honestly a goat. It’s criminal if hip hop heads ain’t heard his stuff before.
My favorite part of the entire song is D’Angelo’s piano solo. I listen to the instrumental version more, because of that. Loved this.
This song is one of my faves

I commented about jasmine Sullivan in a previous video...this must happen!!!...😅
Rapper?
@@kikibrayo9436 yes! And she had so many good storytelling songs. I think he should do the whole album... You can't pick just one Jazmine song.
We’ve done it, Jaz Sullivan’s Tiny Desk reaction. Have a great day :) - Kai’s dad
I've been waiting to see you guys listen to D'angelo . Even though this isn't his song, I'll take it

@@ljg7911 you’re welcome my man! It is an absolute tune and a half I will say haha. Production is next level 🔥
The Isley Brothers-"Dont say good night" sample
You need to play him Fantastic Vol. 2, that album is an experience
This is my JAM!!! ❤💃🏾 “The Light” is also my JAM!
D'Angelo.... So distinctive!
Don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but, Dilla and Common were roommates for quite a while... They were that close...
I love this album and I love this track, looking forward to this reaction
The sample is an Isley Bros love song
One of the greatest joints I’ve ever heard, i mean the production is out of this world.
RIP J Dilla
The amount of B-Boys that used to bump to this song 😂
Anything J Dilla.
Nice listening along with you guys this blew my mind when i first heard it like you guys say weather you think dilla is the goat or not he is too me no ones music makes me feel how dillas does hes the goat to me :)
Listening to this song makes me feel like if I’m floating on a fluffy cloud.
J Dilla is forever the GOAT. Sometimes brilliance doesn't need to be explain.
9:54 yes but karriem riggins helped finish the beat for dilla to make it complete for common for the shining album

I agree. Hakari is so dope. Substantial is ill. His latest album Adultish is a masterpiece
Please get this man on Donuts asap
I so love the journey you two have made. It's really a beautiful thing.
MF DOOMs special herbs beat tapes might be something you'd enjoy after donuts that is
you guys have such a beautiful dynamic. i love watching your videos
One of my favourite songs of all time!
I love this song man. One of Dilla’s best beats, and that’s saying something considering his discography!
Should do Slum Village - Fall In Love!
One of my favs! You pick some really good tracks.
Nice. Need to follow up with Nujabes! Man of same bday as JDilla.

I hope you all listen to “Finding Forever”, Common’s follow up to Be.
Song makes me so emotional. Most dilla songs tend to do that
I would absolutely love if you and your dad react to “Infinite Possibilities” by Amel Larrieux
Sampled from the Isleys

One of my favorite songs of all time
Great stuff - as always. Thanks for doing this one ✊

Dilla was a scientist. He was telling us in the song E=MC2.
I wonder how dad would react to Busta Rhymes -Still Shining. the timing on that beat is so complex.
I would love to hear your dad's reaction to you never know by Immortal technique its very good in my opinion.
Put pops on the Isley brothers if he hasn’t heard of them
Now. Please Common “sun god” produced by Hi-Tex.
Actually he sampled a song by The Isley Brothers - Don't Say Goodnight (It's Time For Love)
Please do Eminem's Sing for the Moment. The lyrics are amazing and he samples Aerosmith's Dream On. One of the best Eminem songs in my opinion
This song reminds me of autumn idk why tho
