For a play I’d recommend Charley’s Aunt. I’m not sure who it’s by but I just participated in an online read aloud of the script with a group I belong to and it was great! So funny!
I had the same feelings the first time I read A Study in Scarlet!! I read The Moonstone last December. I’m not sure if it was supposed to be comedic but, there were a lot of points that made me laugh.
I'm reading A Study in Scarlet right now and I was a bit...perplexed..by the Mormon component. It was interesting, but I was like, "I thought I was reading a British crime novel and now it's a western????"
Nice update! I'm about half way through the first volume of Varney the Vampire and what a riot! Love it.
@@mattierosss nice! I’ve never heard of those but I just looked it up and it sounds like something I would enjoy! Wish I had heard of it before!
I love Varney the vampire. It’s so funny and melodramatic. It’s a classic Victorian penny dreadful.
The Moonstone will be playing with form....
I loved it too!
@@Thecatladybooknook_PennyD ooooh good to know! It is so much better than I expected!

Just me torturing myself hahaha

I’m really enjoying it! A little more than halfway through now.
I've been reading some of the plays by Oscar Wilde, the are hilarious (at least the drawing room ones) and I recommend them, for sure.
Thank youuuu! That sounds just the thing for the play prompt and I have started looking into his plays.
That is a huge book from Sir Aurhur Conan Doyle - your wrists must have been sore holding that.
@@RaspberryReads hahaha it is lighter than it looks but it definitely stays on the table while I’m reading…

That’s exactly how I felt! 🤣 like what on earth is this?!!
