Mt Dew was literally made with the express purpose of being a mixer for alcohol. That's why it's kinda weird on it's own, but it tastes way better once you mix it with just about any alcohol. If you think about it, it's basically just carbonated water, simple syrup, and sour mix already combined and that's a base for like a million cocktails.
I worked at Noble Romans and our Sangria was cheapo sangria wine diluted with sprite. Then to make it fancy we put an orange slice on the rim of the glass😂

I used to hate it, as back then a quarter wasn't getting anything lol ,maybe a loonie haha. But now as an adult it's a great memory to have. I still miss them to this day. Anyhoot. I still have never tried mixing these two somehow .
I dont know who remembers but Taco Bell and Mountain Dew had an exclusive flavor called Sangria Blast, which had a very dark maroon color. I wouldnt be surprised if this drink was inspired by the former. Oh how i miss that soda. Gonna have to try this one and see how similar it is
Its classed as an energy drink in the UK & Europe coz of the caffeine & sugar content & energy drinks speed your heart up, alcohol slows it down...it definitely wasn't made to be a mixer coz youre asking for a heart attack mixing alcohol with any energy drink
i was a bartender for many years and when we ran out of white zinfandel we would take house white wine and add a splash of cranberry juice or a little grenadine to it. nobody knew the difference
reminds me a little of one of my favorite homemade 'cocktails' we called a unicorn. It's a tall glass filled with ice, about 1/2 tropical flavored energydrinc (preferrebly redbull) a pinch of Orange juce and 1/4th blueberry elderflower-wine slowly poured on top so it gives a little fade to the color

My mother kept a bottle Wild Irish Rose Wine in the fridge for whenever she needed a nip to get throu in-laws. She put a couple of ice cubes ginger ale, sprite fressca, or whatever clear soda pop she had to it. I saw her doing this i would grin knowing mom got some happy juice to get thru. A slow period one every two years😊 she replaced that bottle but on average about once a year unless in was a year with a bunch of mile stone birthday in in then it was 6 months. Don't get me wrong i hate red wine even with soda, but i always snuck a sip of hers.❤

Any sangria is cheap red wine (you can make a white wine version), sparkling water, sugar and a lot of lemon or orange. So, a lemon flavored soda is a fantastic replacement 😂 because in the original you have to disolve the water in to the wine by taking the wine and the sugar in to a pan and heating (not boiling) until the sugar is disolved, after that let it cool add the rest of the ingredients and ice and you have a bomb. In Argentina, on summer times, we make buckets of that for a party 🤣🤣
Brown Sugar Bourbon(103)with Mountain Dew is a go to mix for me, I like to do a 3 finger pour typically in a 16 oz cup then top it off with the Dew, I drink it room temp but it is better cold. Also be warned it’s diabetes in a cup.
