Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Jakub Kiwior from Spezia, according to football.london. Kiwior, a young left-handed defender, is considered an ideal profile for the signing of Mikel Arteta, as well as providing cover for Gabriel Magalhães. The Gunners are close to agreeing a deal with Spezia, valued at £21.9m, on a five-and-a-half-year contract. The 22-year-old has played 20 games for Spezia this season and attracted European interest in the summer, but decided to keep playing to secure a place in Poland's World Cup squad.
Kiwior started his football career at GKS Tychy before joining Anderlecht, where he spent two years at their youth academy, known for producing the likes of Vincent Kompany and Romelu Lukaku. After leaving Anderlecht, Kiwior played 76 games in Slovakia for FK Zeleziarne Podbrezova and MSK Zilina, scoring five goals and providing seven assists. In season 2021 and 2022 he signed for Spezia for £2 million. His performances in Slovakia have caught the attention of the likes of West Ham, Milan and Roma, but he has opted to stay with Spezia to get more game time.
