I actually like to have just a little ambient noise come through. Having the ear canal completely blocked by a silicone ear piece makes for nice listening at first but gets uncomfortable after about 45 min. I always liked the original apple EarPods where it would not block your ear completely, phone calls were also good with that because you wouldn’t feel your voice compressed in your skull. These Galaxy buds live give you best of all worlds. Perfect balance.
The term earpod rarely ever used that I'm aware of. Sounds like people are just sort of accidentally morphing the words earbud and airpod which is understandable. Apple has such a huge chunk of market share, especially in the Western market, that people will generically refer to all earbuds as airpods and all tablets iPads. Kind of like the way Kleenex and whirlpools are technically brand names but people associate them for All tissues or all Jacuzzis. @@nonegone7170
Just got mine yesterday and was astounded by how well the Active Noise Cancellation worked. I find the beans to be a a bit too large and uncomfortable, maybe the ANC feature works better for me because it's a tighter fit in my ears. I tried the larger rubber bits thinking I'd hate it because they're already tight, but the rubber doesn't help or hurt the comfort. They seem to keep the beans sealed even better with the larger rubber rings. Listening to this video, I turned the ANC on and off, the amount of Air conditioner noise, washing machine noise, and traffic noise from the window is reduced dramatically, while your video is still very clear. Comparing the sound of your video with the ANC on and off I can hear a lot of bass from your voice is filtered out.

I feel the same way about a lot of the reviews coming in on these. They're dinging the buds for not completely shutting out the outside world, yet it's not even part of the design and never was. In fact, I don't want something that won't let me hear the car coming down the street or the biker on the trail.
@@juggernaugh75321 I totally agree with you. I use the Huawei Freebuds 3 and when I walk outside I feel great with the ANC being not too strong like the Airpods Pro because I can hear vehicles sounds around me and can notice if someone talks to me.
HuaGala iPhXia - well imagine: you can turn off ANC on them and hear a bit of your surrounding as you want it. You also can turn on the ambient mode and hear it clearly as if you’re not wearing any buds. But you CAN turn it on and have good ANC if you need it. Like on a train, plane, neighbors lawn mower, fans in your apartment in the summer 😉 so please, stop acting as if ANC is a deal breaker because it disconnects you from the world. It’s something you have a choice to use in a matching scenario, or not. Meanwhile it’s a completely useless feature on the Buds live, as I does not help in any of that scenarios. But having the buzzword „ANC“ on the package helps pushing the price up. Of course the comfort is a good thing. I am not saying everyone needs ANC buds and they are useless without in general. They are just too expensive for what they are. When they go down towards 100-120€ (which will probably happen within 2 monthes) as the other buds did, well then they probably are a go and well worth it.
These earbuds are not made for ANC. I don't know why you would want to drown out the world while you are out walking. Personally I would like to be able to hear if a car is coming up nearby or someone is trying to pass me on a bike and yells out to warn me. The whole point of these earbuds and what Samsung is pushing is the comfort. These are made to be worn for long periods of time and still be able to hear things around you. Even the ANC is pushed as being more comfortable since it won't give you that weird uncomfortable dissonance effect some people experience. The ANC is just a bonus feature not the feature you should buy these for.
@@berndz1597 yeah it really hurt for me as well, but I realised it was because of the angle I was putting them in at, they are literally supposed to just sit there with no jutting in After about 3 days of altering about, my ears got used to the shape
Exactly what im saying. I swear to god these reviewers just be saying anything lol. Like these are literally NOT in-ear earbuds, why are you looking for features that only in-ear earbuds can provide??? That's like getting mad at an Android phone for not having ios and it's features.
Long time user of these. Love em. So comfortable, even over long periods. I like to be able to hear ambient sounds when I use these. ANC doesn't matter to me, I use different headphones on planes and in my workshop. The ability to locate these is a valuable feature often overlooked, and the very reason I've had these years longer than other tws.
I just wanted to share another amazing feature that I just found out about these earphones. The Bluetooth range is super wide enough for me to walk around inside of the house from 1st to 3rd floor without losing connection. I think it covers approximately a range of about 33 to 40 feet.
Got these yesterday, tried them out today and travelled on public transport. I listened to both music and audio books. I have to say that I had no issues at all with connection, sound or fit. I have weird ears that I struggle with earbuds. These fit well and are so light and comfortable that you barely notice them. Nice bass, clear voices and good volume. The only thing is that the ANC is really not the best feature. It does do something, but not much. If this is not an essential for you then they are worth the purchase if it is id not bother and look elsewhere such as my previous pair of earbuds the jabra elite active 75t
Noise Cancelation is overrated and can be dangerous for moving around . I loved these buds live I was able to enjoy music and pay attention of my surroundings.
Exactly! I bought some Huawei's FreeBuds Pro that had some "amazing" and overly advertised ANC and tbh i didn't used that feature once. I just don't find any situation in which ANC would be more useful rather than more dangerous. I also don't know anyone that uses that feature in the real life world, apart from these "reviewers".

Thank you for a good honest review. I am looking to purchase these myself and it was very helpful to see someone reviewing them against the points that matter to me too. Very useful, although I agree with some others in the comments for me personally it's good that it doesn't cancel all the noise, but you are right, if they offer this feature in the speck it should really work, so I get your point there. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for this very helpful review! I am loving my buds. To be honest though, I find that the noise cancelling indeed does work to a certain extent. It encounters problems when high frequensies are present, but they do succeed in blocking out lower frequensies. When using it on a plane it took care of the hum of the jet motors and at school they do block the majority of noise in places with a lot of people, though it has problems with voices where there are fewer people. There was a slight hissing when the buds blocked out sound from masses of people, but I found it easier to deal with and that it felt like the buds adapted, though it might just be me who adapted to the hissing. All in all a great product. Thanks again!
I took was confused as to what Active Noise was at first since I couldn't hear any difference. But today at work I turned it on our lunch room and yes indeed it does filter out the hum of the refrigerator, heater running, etc. But strangely it lets things like random coughs, chair slides, and door opening to be heard. Are those not considered active noise then? I still the passthrough feature of the Buds+ should have remained. Or as I like to call it, Bionic Hearing.
I love this! It does not go all the way in your ear, it does not hurt and you can still hear a bit of whats happening outside! It gets the job done and more not to mention how stylish it is!
For me, ANC is useful when I'm in audiophile mode (i.e. in the cave) listening to my fav music and I want to hear every note and exquisite reverberation, but in my regular day to day activities ambient noise is critical to my being aware of what's going on. Whether its my wife or son calling me, traffic when I'm outside, the PA announcement when I'm at the gym etc... I think many of these reviewers have difficulty understanding that different products have different design intents. Comparing an F-150 to a Tesla feature for feature is silly, the design intent for each is vastly different even though they both have four wheels.
Thank you for your review. It was very helpful. I bought the bronze. $99. at Target. I pick them up later today. I chose them because I really hate for earbuds to be in my ear canal. It used to cause me pain after one day of use. Last year I bought the AfterShokz Air and a few months later I bought the AfterShokz Aeropex. They are nice but you can't lay down or lay back in a chair with them. I can't wait to get the Samsung Galaxy Mystic Bronze today! 🥳
I'm an aftershokz user as well and I picked these buds especially for the winter months when I have to wear hats and the aftershokz don't work well in that case. I don't like anything in my ear canal as well
Sounds perfect for my courier job. Quiet background music/podcasts, able to hear clients and hear the traffic (sirens etc) and answer calls whilst driving.
Something you maybe forgot (or put in a later video) - the buds respond extremely well to going into Adapt Sound (in [Settings] [Sounds] [Sound Quality] [Adapt Sound] & run through the tests. Makes a helluva difference.
I've hard these for 2 yrs, they're grrrreeeaaat. I wear these in bed no problem. Great sound too. ANC is ok, but I use proper ancient for flights etc. Case is so small too! On sale now for 60e !
Why bigger flaw? I think being able to hear what’s happening around you is a very great advantage especially now we all live in a dangerous world. I have seen a lot of people who wear ANC buds in the train and they were not able to hear a vital announcement that the train direction has changed and they stayed put until the train conductors began chasing them out like children...., all thanks to active noise cancellation.
Thank you for this really good and honest review, looking to get a pair of them especially while they're £100 off on Amazon! seems a no brainer now! I had the original galaxy buds with my Galaxy S10 for the last 2 years, and just upgraded to the S21 FE a week ago and want some new buds to go with, and from extensive research these appeal more to me than the Buds 2 and Buds Pro!
I have the buds for a while now, it is not noise cancelling at all instead it amplifies the noise outside. Walking beside a highway, you would no longer hear the music you are playing even at max, instead you hear the noise vibrating more in your ear. It is not a snug fit as well on all ears, it fits my right ear but not at all on my left ear. It falls out all the time and my left bud is full of scratches because of this. Sound is pretty good if you are in a not so noisy environment. Battery is amazing though.
This seems like an alright first attempt (similar to the original galaxy buds). They might be much better when the second generation is released. Similar to what Smasung pulled off with the original buds and buds+
Tbh i just want these because they don't really penetrate the ear canal. My main reason for not using earbuds in general anymore is because they go inside the ear. I hate that lol. I think I'll by these next month. Thanks for the helpful review! :)
No they sound great and does drown outside noise when listening to music at 70% . They sound great and its better to hear some of surroundings because it's safer . With plugs in your ear and crossing streets and other things can be dangerous so i do appreciate these buds live. And i got tired of the rubber ear tips stuffing my ears from the jabra 75t. If I want noise Cancelation I have quality over ear headphones . But for everyday use these buds are great
This was an enjoyable and thorough review. The only thing I noted was the title lists one fatal flaw, which is later described as the poor ANC but all of the pluses described by the open ear design (comfort, not having to remove them to have a conversation, etc.) were obviously going to create limitations for the ANC so I'd not describe that as a fatal flaw but more of a compromise who's value depends on your particular needs. Not a complaint or meant to lower the value of the review. Perhaps Samsung should have left ANC off the feature list all together since it's usefulness is questionable but I do commend the effort to create the best of both worlds.
I couldn't disagree more with the ANC. The ANC is remarkable for what these headphones are, it cuts out low frequencies extremely well and definitely makes you feel more isolated. Comparing the ANC to closed back or in ear ANC doesn't make sense as it's impossible to since it's an open air design by nature. I specifically bought these so i could hear my surrondings without having a wire or big open back headphones and I'm finding the ANC is an added bonus as it helps isolate the music into my ears a bit but still allows me to hear knocks on the door, peoples voices etc. I was in a room with a very loud low frequency fan and I actually turned it on (despite that fact it was already running) because I couldn't hear it. High frequencies are another thing, but if you want that type of ANC you gotta get in ear.
So far the must balanced choice between the comfort and the performance this one you can have for hours with out getting pain or irritated and they perform so good both on noise cancelling and calls and music just little less bass from the other buds , This one in 2022 still using them for hours in work and in every where else 🙂
I just got my Galaxy Buds Live and I'm experiencing random cut outs for the Left bud. It will randomly disconnect. Some stuttering issues as well playing music. I've got the latest firmware update installed (R180XXU0ATG9) and both buds are at 95% battery. The first thing I do is charge a new device to capacity. I've tried it with and without gaming mode and Noise Cancelation. I have my Watch3 connected as well, but no other audio devices. I'm using a Samsung S20+. I have never had an issue with my Jabra Elite Active 65Ts.
I'm considering buying a Galaxy Watch 5 and these are a pre-order bonus, free of charge. Honestly, sounds like a damn good deal considering I have a bit of a problem with rubber tips buds like the Galaxy Buds I got with my S20+ 2 years ago

I like how for these new samsung reviews, for such a popular company and supposed flagship lineup, Chris actually has something negative to complain, even the taken down (for now) Note Ultra review was complaining about the Exynos chipset, and rightly so actually.

Hi, thanks for this. I got a question on this still: what about connectivity to a PC to WFH whilst this is connected at your mobile as well. Does it work? Does it get connectivity issues when linking to more than 1 device at the same time? Thanks
The lack of seal like the buds plus is precisely the reason to buy them... I don't want to block the world around me and since these are marketed for those wanting comfort.
I hope you can get your hands on the K30 5G Racing Edition with the SD768G and review it. It's definitely the best midrange phone right now, even beating the Realme X50 5G (on what you're getting for the price, it's relatively cheap). It's just too bad that it's being slept on and nobody is talking about it. Thank you!
I think your expectation for active noise cancelling is a bit off. ANC works much better against the sound of frequencies that are constant and don't vary too much - such as that of a car or jet engine. Too many variations make it hard for the ANC to work and is made more difficult by not having a proper seal. I wouldn't buy these for ANC. If you want SUPERB ANC you need to upgrade to a headphone, and get either Bose's or Sony's latest premium ANC offerings.
Great honest review well done. I have the original Galaxy buds and love them. They connect seamlessly, last a long time, sound good, fit well etc etc. They have tips that go into the ear they, block out everything which is a blessing and a curse depending on the situation and it does get a little uncomfortable if in the ear all day long. Also they are rubbish for calls. People always say they cant hear me properly and i have to take them out and grab my phone to continue the call. I am very close to pulling the trigger on these as compared to my original buds they would likely be more comfortable and it seems better for calls - but if these are the only 2 benefits over my buds its hard to justify £180. Now if they sound dramatically better than mine then Im sold. My buds have one driver only (not sure the size) the newer galaxy buds plus have 2 drivers and according to reviews sound a bit better than mine. Whats the deal with these ones? Im assuming the 12mm driver is much bigger and better sounding than the one in mine. They also have the bass port on them too... If they are a big sound performance upgrade Ill get them
I do lay down with these. Its better than others. Don't fall out. And don't feel gross like my others. And doesn't use power to hear people. So thats why I got the live for work.
I bought them a week ago and although I'm a fan of Samsung, I'm very disappointed. The sound is really good but the connection fails when the device connected is not that far and today especially, the touch controls were not responsive at all! I have a pair of PaMu Slide and they work much better in general. The same when I connected my wife's AirPods with my S10+: I walked around all over our flat and the connection was not cut out as it happened with the buds live several times in just 1 week. For the sync, when watching videos on TH-cam there's also a big lag. On the other hand, the AirPods again are surprisingly very well synchronised.
Since you listed all of the Pros....... Cons. 1. The wearable app requires you to allow all permission all the time only. They give you the option to deny or only allow while using the app, but if you chose either of those it will close out the app and you won't be able to use it. 2. You have no control over what is allowed. If you don't want Bixby on your device... Too bad, you don't want it to have your location all the time..... Too bad, Calendar, Contacts, microphone, SMS etc. too bad. If you go into your device and stop any of them you're no longer allowed to listen to music. ( I only want to hear music. You don't need to invade my privacy to listen to music) 3. The Bluetooth sucks, all songs sound chopped and screwed when running. Paired my buds with the watch 3 and my music sounds like a scratched CD. The Bluetooth is extremely choppy when running. The music was smooth while in the house but as soon and I started to jog they kept loosing signal and quickly reconnecting. (yes I offline downloaded one of my Playlist from Spotify on my watch) who's to blame the new watch or the new buds or the company who made them both? 4. The speaker is the small area on the front tip which means these have to be perfectly placed in your ear which takes a bit. You will hear you left sounding better than your right, only to adjust the right where it then sounds better than the left. 5. It's 2020 I thought we were done with shiny. Can we get a Matt color? 6. No wall charger, I get it I have about a thousand of them anyway, but it's the principle. I do like a lot though, They didn't fall out of my ear not once in a three mile run in Arizona 111 degree weather. The charging case is pretty bad azz. Getting the buds to fit in you ear is easy but you gonna have to do some fishing to get the speaker to align with your ear canal while making sure they don't fall out. Update #3 so I replaced the last pair of buds Saturday 8/15, went running with the new ones today 8/17 and they worked flawless at first. Then about a mile in we went right back to the crappy Bluetooth scratched cd sound, where the audio goes in and out. Before sending them back this time I'm going to use my Bose qc30 with my galaxy watch 3 that way I can rule out the new watch connection. I will have my girl use the kidney beans on her galaxy watch to see if its doing the same crappy Bluetooth thing with hers. 8/18 paired the Galaxy watch 3 with Bose qc30 and they worked perfectly ......so its not the watch. paired the galaxy buds live with my girls galaxy watch and she said the Bluetooth was goin in an out the entire climb (verrado Stairs) will be returning these galaxy buds live for a third pair them in going to completely rule them out as being defective. 3 strikes you're out. 8/19 same issue, saying goodbye to these. I really wanted them too...
What about using the Samsung Galaxy Buds on a 55" Class S95B OLED 4K Smart TV (2022)? Earbuds use is not always about cell phones. Some people use them on their Samsung Smart Televisions with Bluetooth. I wish you do a video regarding television use.
Not meant to be an outside noise shutdown. Its an open ear design. As such, it allows outside noise but redirects and reduces by ANC. Its not even the same adventrum type ANC engineering as other ANC have. You wouldnt buy these if ANC is a prime consideration. They are by far the most comfortable ear buds out there. Sound is very good. call quality is great. IMHO, thye are better than airpods pro, and $80 cheaper

After about 3 days of altering about, my ears got used to the shape
Yesssss. All my Galaxy buds over the years have been amazing in regards to distance and being able to find em.
I loved these buds live I was able to enjoy music and pay attention of my surroundings.
how is it dangerous for moving around if it's noise cancellation is bad? lol
A muggers dream as well. See how long you last walking around with $300 on your head, and you can’t hear anyone approaching......
@@slime_stick , Imagine if your being followed outside, I can imagine the kidnapper would have a good laugh.
Totally agree. Noise cancelation is dangerous. I don't want to get hit by a car or mugged, thanks.

I've taken them outside had no issues talking or listing to music. Loud and clear.
What about for sleepi kg
Why bigger flaw? I think being able to hear what’s happening around you is a very great advantage especially now we all live in a dangerous world. I have seen a lot of people who wear ANC buds in the train and they were not able to hear a vital announcement that the train direction has changed and they stayed put until the train conductors began chasing them out like children...., all thanks to active noise cancellation.
Or worse still an oncoming car when crossing the road.
If the only 'fatal flaw' is that ANC works the way it was advertised it would work then I don't see a problem with these
Thank you for this really good and honest review, looking to get a pair of them especially while they're £100 off on Amazon! seems a no brainer now!
I have used these for a year and I find the noise cancelation insane, maybe its ear shape based but I get no noise from the background when using
Can you still hear the outside world when listening to music at about 70% volume? Like traffic or subway
But for everyday use these buds are great
@@jcru40 does it gets uncomfortable using it more than an hour or two?
@@jme5354 not really
For women, ambient noise is actually safe. As a woman being out with noise cancellation earphones is extremely scary tbh.
This guy cracks me up on a good way. Good video thanks.
Ok I'm buying this one! Will be my first wireless earbuds.
Same
How are you finding them? I'm debating whether I should...
Great vid :) should've inserted a mic quality test tho
So far the must balanced choice between the comfort and the performance this one you can have for hours with out getting pain or irritated and they perform so good both on noise cancelling and calls and music just little less bass from the other buds ,
This one in 2022 still using them for hours in work and in every where else 🙂
Brilliant video m8! Brilliant choice of words... you're defo one of the better hosts that i enjoy watching.
Hey I have to say you're videos not only provide helpful info, but are very entertaining. Keep it up!
The only fatal flaw are those people who don't subscribe to your channel. You deserve more likes and subscribers.
Knowing it's an open design (no rubber plush) is there some noise leak if u play on high volumes?
I don't mind the ANC, frankly. On my buds+ I used the ambience a lot, I always want to hear what's going on outside.
I don't think I find my touch controls "cack" but I'm sure some do
Cack🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm considering buying a Galaxy Watch 5 and these are a pre-order bonus, free of charge. Honestly, sounds like a damn good deal considering I have a bit of a problem with rubber tips buds like the Galaxy Buds I got with my S20+ 2 years ago
I've been out and about looking for a hyperactive Badger. No luck so far.
Finally, a wireless earbud that doesn't go inside my ear. Thank you, Samsung.

What about latency while watching videos?
There is none. Plus there is a thing called gaming mode in the app which reduces the latency even more
@@duckerfucker I tried the older galaxy buds, the video and audio were always off sync.

I like how for these new samsung reviews, for such a popular company and supposed flagship lineup, Chris actually has something negative to complain, even the taken down (for now) Note Ultra review was complaining about the Exynos chipset, and rightly so actually.
Why exonys is a thing i will not understand. Will never again buy a samsung here in Europe as long as they keep giving us their exonys versions
@@aktm1407 Same for my country as well. And what's worse is they sell phones at quite a high price over here as well, most likely taxes but still, when they give exynos it's just a no-no.
Hi, thanks for this. I got a question on this still: what about connectivity to a PC to WFH whilst this is connected at your mobile as well. Does it work? Does it get connectivity issues when linking to more than 1 device at the same time? Thanks
Great review! God bless you and yours! Praying for you
I got these today and so far my biggest complaint is call quality. People on the other end tell me that they can barely hear me.
Hi, how is the battery life of these buds ?? how long it last . pl share your views.
@ £69 on amazon atm good deal for that price?
Thank you for being one of the few honest reviewers out there
The lack of seal like the buds plus is precisely the reason to buy them...
If they are a big sound performance upgrade Ill get them
Have the same questions actually
Excited to try these out. I have the first galaxy buds that came with the fold

Great to see Samsung giving away these buds to everyone who buys their latest handset! Makes up for the lack of everything else in the S21 package!!
Youre right in every way. Great review. I love them. Thanks !
The “love you” at the end 😂
On the other hand, the AirPods again are surprisingly very well synchronised.
for me its good that when people talk i can hear them since i use them at work and will be one of the reasons i buy them
Do you think that Samsung will be able to address the total lack of ANC via software updates or similar?
Do you think these buds are still worth it in 2022, when compared with more recently produced tw nc earphones.
You don't need to invade my privacy to listen to music)
I do like a lot though,
They didn't fall out of my ear not once in a three mile run in Arizona 111 degree weather. The charging case is pretty bad azz. Getting the buds to fit in you ear is easy but you gonna have to do some fishing to get the speaker to align with your ear canal while making sure they don't fall out.
Update
#3 so I replaced the last pair of buds Saturday 8/15, went running with the new ones today 8/17 and they worked flawless at first.
8/18 paired the Galaxy watch 3 with Bose qc30 and they worked perfectly ......so its not the watch.
paired the galaxy buds live with my girls galaxy watch and she said the Bluetooth was goin in an out the entire climb (verrado Stairs)
will be returning these galaxy buds live for a third pair them in going to completely rule them out as being defective.
After like 4 months of having them the right ear bud doesn't work properly anymore the noise is not fully coming out and sometimes with both buds they noise squeaks.
Do the buds live stay in the ears while working out, running or do they fall off easily? I'm contemplating between the buds + & buds live

I dont think you understand that the main market for these tws are not the ones looking for ANC. Its really dumb saying that the FATAL FLAW is the ANC when literally it works as intended and advertised. These are not in-ear so i don't understand why would someone even compare them to any of those, it's main competition are the airpods and all the open-type earbuds. These are not supposed to work as in-ear earbuds.
If you just want ANC then why are you even looking at these open-earbuds when you should know that they just aren't meant to work like that? lmao
My Jabra 65T actives are.... Ok. I just don't like ramming things into my tiny ear canals but the airpods are just cack. I tried Urbanista too but the less said the better about them. Any recommendations for people who don't like the silicon gels!?
I find these earbuds great apart from the left earbud connection constantly cuts out and i have to mess around to get it back on. Even when my earbud is right next to the phone it'll become choppy and cut out seconds later.
I dont know why but I Just can't find the perfect position in my ear for these they hurt my ears so bad after wearing them for a hour or so, I don't know if I'm sticking them in too far? But if i don't, they feel as if they are falling out, anyone else?

the ANC dont work for me and theres no dif when truning it on or off
I currently own the original galaxy buds and I absolutely love them as they are. My only complaint, call quality aside, is that i can bearly hear anything that happens in my surroundings (and they dont have ANC). im a person that likes to know whats happening around me. Yes, they have ambient sound but this one time i was walking down the street and there was the sound of tires screeching and then a loud bang!…. There was an accident close to me and i couldnt tell wich way the sound came from, if I would’ve been included in the accident i wouldnt be able to react correctly… i absolutely need to hear my surroundings. Having said that i DO NOT care about ANC, every review ive seen about these buds, they say the same: they’re awesome earbuds but the ANC is crap, and i get it, if they adevertise something it should work… but for me they will work perfectly… im currently looking for a good deal cause i want to upgrade my OG Buds to the Live… im going full bean mode🤓
I need something to wear for hours at home so comfort is topmost priority. Is this right choice or something else?
Which one is best for bass or batter sound.
Buds plus or buds live.
Both of them have kinda same sound, but since the buds plus have silicon tips they block more noise!
