Whole bunch of great ones in here.
“New Chicken McNuggets”…It scares me that these were introduced in the early 80s, so being born in 77, I have been around longer than they’ve been on the menu…
That "living in luxury" segment seems like a very early precursor for what we would see a lot more of in the mid 80s
Wow, Super Bowl commercials sure were low key back then.
Everything in this video aired after the game had ended.
I remember these commercials as if they were yesterday watching them on my old black & white in my bedroom. Thanks for posting!!!
Living in Luxury…This was the time period when people liked watching the upper class. Now most people seem to want the upper class to be hit by a bus.
For those wondering, the song in the KPIX Community Billboard ad is "The Light Is On" by Christopher Cross.
24:03 1982 marked the beginning of the end for “Beautiful Music” in the Bay Area. KFOG 104.5 switched formats to AAA rock, which would last for 37 years, and KABL would leave the beautiful music format seven years later in 1989. KOIT, meanwhile, switched to the exact same format as K-Lite 93, but with infinitely greater success: 43 years later, it still has the same AC format today.
I love now knowing that Chicken McNuggets are brand new in 82!
I greatly enjoy the old radio commercials. It's sad that KGO retired their original 100-year-old call sign last month. Also, KOME is defunct, but KOIT remains active.
Some dope beats in the Colt ad
Crazy how early the Super Bowl started and ended back in the day, enough time for a west coast station to resume their regular Sunday programming!
This particular game started at 4:20 PM EST, so on the west coast it was over by around 5PM.
4:58 - Blasphemy!! You do not question Liquid Draino!
I am glad and terrified at the same time. I really do remember most of these, and it does feel like it was just yesterday.
RIP John Madden, a marvelous giant.
Oh man, Dave Mac, Wayne Walker. Those were the good old Bay Area CBS days.
I miss the styrofoam McDonald’s food came in 😢
5:24 Is that Leonard Nimoy speaking? Certainly sounds like it! (Edit: Fixed that spelling of his name.)
Leonard Nimoy was the host/narrator of "In Search Of".
