I've heard of Gravity Rush, never realized that it was Toyama's. I really want to play Silent Hill in the future but getting a PS1 copy is really hard :(
I feel like their personalities reflect their respective series perfectly lol. toyama seems a little more reserved while mikami is more outgoing. SH is a more quiet, psychological horror while RE is visceral and adrenaline inducing
The way Mikami put his thoughts in words and how he openly talks about the difference between making a game as a producer and as a creator just show us how experienced and really sharp game dev he is. Dude is a natural, I can see why he has so many achievements under his belt
There's a certain peace of mind I feel knowing that this video and this conversation between Keiichiro Toyama and Shinji Mikami exists. It's nice to reminisce and understand how we got to where we are today and where we were and why those early memories are so special. Thank you for uploading this : )
@@novustalks7525 Fun Fact: Way-forward said that Shantae was inspired by Disney's Aladdin ( The Capcom game), and Shinji Mikami was the one who directed it.
Quite possibly the best gaming interview I ever watched. Insightful and emotional. So wholesome to see the respect and recognition Mikami has for Toyama's unique horror creations. Two legends.
This two gentlemen, this two artists are the biggest influence on my professional life, in a way thanks to them I am who I am, and I'll always be thankful to them.
Nice conversation. - I love that you guys started your own studios, like Tango, Bokeh, Kojima, Striking Distance, Inflexion, Archetype, and so forth. - It's the right way to go and it allows for more unique projects to happen, rather than working for corporations that are afraid to step outside formulas because they want to guarantee sales. - So please remain as independent or autonomous as possible and you'll probably always be noticed when you stay genuine. - I'm looking forward to your upcoming games and I will even go back to the older ones mention in this video. - Thanks for all the entertainment and inspiration.
Two Legends meet together!!! I LOVE Resident Evil and Silent Hill Franchises! I dream that some day this todo could work on a original survival horror Game.
It is really crazy how those past videos made me feel. While watching I tend to get absorbed by the atmosphere, diving deep into the conversations and the ideas, almost getting lost in them. I truly believe that Bokeh Game Studios will be able to create something unique, speaking to the player on different level. I can't wait to be allowed to experience the creativity and commitment put into the project. I will surely be blown away.
As a lifetime RE fan, this was incredible to watch. Two amazing and talented people sharing passion and love for games they crated...Please do more of these....🍻
The struggle between the Creator side of the brain and the Producer side of the brain is no joke. It plagues me. But now I have this little voice in my head (subtitled) reminding me I’m not alone. Thanks for sharing!
It's just great to hear two of gaming's greatest creators just talking about their lives and their craft. These two men have forgotten more about making video games than most will ever learn, and there's not a hint of pretension to either of them. It's so utterly refreshing to hear not just game creators, but ARTISTS, talk about art and not once bring up politics, The Message, or any agenda of any stripe - just video games from start to finish.
Gravity Rush will sadly be missed one my favourite games had so much fun in that world. Resident Evil was the game I grew up playing still till this day it is my favourite survival horror game.
It doesnt matter what Toyama does, it is always something unique and worth watching or playing. Be it Silent Hill, Siren , Graviy Rush or the projects he worked on, this man is a creative machine. Claps and thanks for master Mikami too for creating such works and games aswell.
Shinji Mikami meets with kechiiro Toyama ! The creator of resident evil and evil within meets the creator of siren and slitter head !! Damn this is legendary !!!!
Wow, I really wish we could have more devs sit down and talk like this. This was so eye opening and interesting to hear you two talk and reminisce about the past. I can't wait for more of your videos and especially Slitterhead! Thanks!
Two of the well respected developers, talking about two of the best horror games to ever exist and reviving the genre with different themes. There won't be no other like these two gentlemen here
Nothing makes me happier than seeing Mikami-san pouring his hearts out talking about his previous games. The tug & pull between the creator and the producer in him calls back to the other 2 parts documentaries (I know who made ALL these~), and it's something I truly respect. Mikami-san puts it well at the end. RE, SH and Siren are all horrors of its own. It is a testament of the possibilities of the 'genre', or better put, this Emotion can bring.
Loved this conversation! Especially the parts about future generations of game developers as well as the theme of creating something where you feel both scared but curious to know more at the same time...and special shout out to the background music, very relaxing in my opinion! I'll be there when the next Golden Hour is upon us!!
Thank you for this amazing talk and for all the sleepless nights Silent Hill, Siren and Resident Evil gave me. So uplifting and motivational. Can‘t wait to play Slitterhead!
Lucky to be a person that apreciated both man's work on the time that they came out Thank you for that interview, its something that i waited so many years to witness
What a great video! I love that it's not an interview, but conversation. These 2 people are responsible for creating games that made a HUGE impact on me.
Nice to see these two great gentleman sharing their experiences and point of views! In every new interview of Shinji Mikami, I confirm he's a funny dude!
Fantastic video. Two of my favorite game creators sharing their insight, stories, and hopes for the future. So glad that this was made, best conversation I've heard in a long while.

this was amazing, can't wait to see more. I'm loving all these japanese developers getting into podcasts. Channels like Archipel and Haradas Bar and even the fighting game developer events they have been doing in recent years have provided some great insight into classic games and the creators/culture/work environment they came out of.

You can tell the mutual respect they have for each other not only from this meeting but also from what their respective games have borrowed from each other. A must watch for any TRUE fan of horror. Major respect for both of them. Love the art they've produced.
Silent Hill and Resident Evil in the same room. Damn this is the good timeline.
Yeah, although Barry Allen's mom is no longer with us.
I wish they invite deadspace too.

"Being reckless when young creates stories that make our drinks taste better when we're Adults" DAMN, those are words of a phillosopher, Mr. Mikami
I know most people knows Toyama through the OG Silent Hill, but I wish Siren & Gravity Rush can get more love. I freaking love those games.
Both PS2 Sirens are so messed up in the best way posible, there's just nothing like them.
