I feel like this video and the Eggs v. Merfolk video present us with the full combo experience. Some games you feel like a brilliant artificer, untouchable thanks to your deep knowledge of your craft, and some days a tiny robot picks up an axe and caves your skull in while you fling stuff from your junk drawer at it.
I have no real interest in ever playing Canlander (way outside of my budget and there isn't really a scene for it at my FLGSs), but I adore these episodes. The way that they talk through their lines and discuss their plays has helped me with how I approach games in other formats, on top of just the general charming hilarity. Keep up the amazing work!
Ya this is like watching 60-card eternal formats. It’s amazing to watch the lines and the way decks are built. Decks cost around a month of my mortgage and I guarantee I would be outclassed in every way.
I found it funny that Serge trying to illegally cast MoE made Ben say he'd play like he doesn't know about it even though he should know about it because it was literally JUST revealed through the card that put it in Serge's hand haha! Another great episode to make my Wednesdays better! Thanks!
On a more personal note I’d love to see the red/green monsters list that you’ve mentioned a couple of times on North 100 but that’s cause it’s more in line of what I like playing than anything else.
It is a really fun deck to play in highlander. And yeah I would love to see them play ot as well. I wish they would double up with the showdowns have ot every week but with more hosts/players. It would be great to see other architects of deck types pilot their deck.
@@Phingolfina Serge and Ben are paid to do this. Wouldn't be impossible to pay a different contributor (or just have Nelson ignore his kids for an afternoon), but would be a small hassle. You can't fudge the taxes on a gig like this because it's publicly displayed.
From what I’ve seen over the course of the last two showdowns, Eggs works much like the paperclip problem. It does nothing for a long time, then it does something you don’t understand, then suddenly you’re dead.
Not that it especially matters, but I think at 19:40 or so, Serge should have gone with his initial plan. No blocks means Ben goes down to 2, and the Hope of Ghirapur would have made contact, allowing it to be sacrificed to prevent Ben from casting any non-creatures, leaving very little space to recover.
Yeah I agree. After seeing how good hope was in the first game just letting it get blocked and killed in game 2 seems like a potential miss play if Ben could find a win on his turn.
Love the content. These videos and watching old FNPFs helped me convince a friend to throw together some CanLander decks and jam games Thanks for all you and the rest of LRR do. Some cool decks I’d like to see in the showdown Rakdos pyro Martyr Proc Black Mold 4C Blood Medium Red Maybe some memes and moxen builds? Flying men Copy rats Muscle wizards Dragonstorm Druid humans Or any other wild off-meta matchups would be excellent to see Thanks!
Because you can loop it with Black Lotus to generate infinite mana that you then use to crack and recur Pyrite Spellbomb. So his main combo is throwing a bomb at your opponent
I know there’s probably lots of suggestions, but I feel like I haven’t seen a hardcore UR, UB, or UW control deck here in a while. Huge fan, and love the content!
Love North 100, love this series and love these boys. I would like some often mentioned decks see some play in the future (newer tribal decks, flying men etc, gruul something), I would like to see Nelson be on the showdown and I would like to see a CanLander tournament (in-house or just by providing commentary).
We had a proxy multiplayer vintage tournament once. Four player games, best of one. I ended up winning 3-0 playing bomberman. I loved Pyrite Spellbominb the entire table. Such a cool deck.
I love enjoying the format vicariously through you lovely gentlemen. Hoping Wheeler breaks out Garbage Platter for one of these just so we can get that sweet sweet Tin Fins-style action. I've been a huge fan of that deck ever since he played it on that one FNPF forever ago.
g1, I was thinking wheeler would rotate into like, Radiant Fountain lol, but that's probably not in the deck lol. tho it could potentially allow for fastbond-crucible combos with a land sac outlet other than zuran orb? probably not worth it lol
These decks are so sweet. I'm really interested in making a battle box with Workshop Weenie. Does anyone with more Canlander knowledge than I recommend a deck that might have a roughly even matchup against it that wouldn't be too difficult for newer players to the format to pilot? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
since the last showdown I've been introduced to eggs and have been blown away, convinced they're the best thing since sliced bread. I did not expect artifact weenies to be comparable. mind=blown
Surprised Serge isn't playing Skorpekh Lord. I run it in my Mardu Artifact aggro deck and it's absolutely insane. It and Flamewar, Shadow Operative have been surprisingly nuts
i play UG tempo in gladiator and have been having trouble with the new paradox/artifact decks. it would be cool to see the match up play out in highlander
Hooray, it's Showdown day! I think the extra 2+ draws that Tameshi would get, made killing it a good choice. in game 3, Serge forgot his Saga floating mana; wonder if (2) was more relevant than (1) left over that turn.
When Wheeler tapped Top before sacing it to make the Thopter, did he eventually actually resolve that ability or did they lose the thread when Serge had pre-blocks fast effects?
You ask if there are any archetypes you want to see? While I know it's been played a few times, I adore Sorenson, so any chance to see that deck in action, I am 100% behind.
I’d say the one thing that seems to be missing from North 100 showdown is what I would call a “classic” aggro deck. Obviously showcased here workshop weenie is clearly an aggro deck but something like rdw, green stompy, black mold, or something similar would be nice to see.
For the uninitiated, why's bomberman combo called that? Is it just "man finds bombs, both metaphorical and literal", or is there a deeper cut I'm not appreciating?
Some D&T or Tribal decks like Combo goblins (Recruiter pile, persist combo, kiki combo, etc) would be fun I think. Edit: I somehow missed the D&T vs Workshop Weenie from a few weeks ago and it appeared in my recommended just after finishing this vid and writing the comment (:
I've watched this Vid at least once a day since it came out and I swear to Medusa, I STILL can't figure out what Serge did on turn 1. I need to find a Canadian Highlander partner.
I think it would have been hilarious if you had said "...well, that's it, we're out of time!" And actually rolled the credits for the episode and then had a stinger for the episode be the extra game.

The duality of merman.

just proxy :)

@@IncredulousPasserby as soon as I saw the Workshop and Mox, I knew this isn't the format for me lol.
@@Radiodragonofdoom Thank you for this information... Time to bust out the collection and printer
Always a good day when we get more North 100
I found it funny that Serge trying to illegally cast MoE made Ben say he'd play like he doesn't know about it even though he should know about it because it was literally JUST revealed through the card that put it in Serge's hand haha! Another great episode to make my Wednesdays better! Thanks!
I was just thinking that :D
I love doing game three no matter what, especially in this type of series.
What an explosive start Serge!

Loving the frequency of north 100 showdowns!
From what I’ve seen over the course of the last two showdowns, Eggs works much like the paperclip problem. It does nothing for a long time, then it does something you don’t understand, then suddenly you’re dead.
sudddenly, there is only eggs
New Showdown is always a awesome thing to see
I always enjoy the discussions and the 'How could I have done better?' between these two. Good content!

Flying men
Copy rats
Muscle wizards
Dragonstorm
Druid humans

Thanks!
Fantastic stuff as always. Tempo vs tempo would be interesting, Sorensen vs UW tempo for example
Yes! There are few things I love more in Magic than tempo mirror matches
not a joke id love to watch a north 100 showdown that is just exactly these two decks again
or at least more eggs!
I don't play CANlander and in fact I don't play a single competitive format, but listening to Serge and Wheeler is just so cozy and soothing.
Truly blessed to have two consecutive episodes of eggy goodness! Great work as always
Excellent, as always. Thank you.
What delightful gentlemen.
20:00 Wheeler saw te card wheen it was revealed to the "Reality Heist" right?
man, you make my day with exacrly your show north100
"BEEP, BEEP!" Artifact decks are hot. Great games.
I love how excited Serge was when Ben got to do the thing in the final game! Serge is the greatest
Great games, excited to see both decks pop off!
The duels of these charismatic planeswalkers continue to be such a joy to spectate❤️
Ive been loving these! Thanks for making them.
loved the episode!
anyone know why Auriok Salvagers is called bomber man?
Because you can loop it with Black Lotus to generate infinite mana that you then use to crack and recur Pyrite Spellbomb. So his main combo is throwing a bomb at your opponent
@@NarcoticIsland ooooooh forgot about spellbomb, gotcha gotcha. Super appreciated!
Got to love that Serge opened with an Electronic Tomato.
Absolutely loving the North 100 Showdown - It was great to see the bomberman combo at the end. Requesting another sandy B session!
I forgot to say last video, thanks for the point callouts. I watch on mobile, so I often don't get to dive into the notes and comments
Love these fantastic games. Don't really have a Highlander scene in the area, but these games are always a highlight.
I know there’s probably lots of suggestions, but I feel like I haven’t seen a hardcore UR, UB, or UW control deck here in a while. Huge fan, and love the content!
Honestly this came at the perfect time. I was feeling some canlander content

I have to believe that Wheeler playing eggs is now the fastest way to get me to click on a video
Watching Game One finish and nervously checking the video length.

I'd love to see medium red, soldier tribal, some of these decks that have been coming up on the podcast for the last few sets pretty consistently
Ahh it’s my fav boys playing my fav format ❤️
I don't really enjoy competitive 1v1 magic, but these episodes are so fun to watch.
These decks are so sweet. I'm really interested in making a battle box with Workshop Weenie. Does anyone with more Canlander knowledge than I recommend a deck that might have a roughly even matchup against it that wouldn't be too difficult for newer players to the format to pilot? Maybe something like WG counters? I'd imagine creature based, noncombo strats would be the way to go for newer players.
Loved North 100 since episode 1 and Serge cutting hovermyr is like the end of an era
🎵 Eggs, get your eggs here! Fresh and white eggs are here! Wiggle jiggle, yellow middle. That's the best of what you are, I love you eggs! 🎵

Rewatching the whole series and the people that say that Wheeler always wins are forgetting the absolute Serge domination of the early episodes
Due to me being a degenerate I'd love to see storm or a similar spell based combo deck! High tide as well!
Amazing. Another canlander throw down
If you guys are taking requests for decks, I'd like to see someone pilot a cycling deck. I love cycling.
I'd love to see Ben and Serge bringing in what they think is the best deck in the format
I’m making the mother of all omelets here, Jack! Can’t fret over every egg!
You ask if there are any archetypes you want to see? While I know it's been played a few times, I adore Sorenson, so any chance to see that deck in action, I am 100% behind.
Can you guys do some medium x deck vs medium y deck? Eventually working through all the colors.
I would love to see Gruul aggro on here one time. Thanks for the great content!
these are always a delight
Hey does anyone know where wheeler got those sleeves? I'm really into them but can't find them online
I love watching these videos I think you guys should do a ultimate tribal showdown for highlander
mono red or big red or medium red or big greed or medium green! (preferably with an explanation of what makes them big/medium)
Why is the Auriok Salvager line called "Bomberman"?
Because the original Auriok Salvager combo decks used to win by using the infinite mana to crack and recur Pyrite Spellbomb ;)
Are you playing with proxies or the real power and duals?
Lotus was said to be collectors ED
This was a really cool series! Why is it call Bomberman, though? How is that connected to the Bomberman game? Is it?
I’d say the one thing that seems to be missing from North 100 showdown is what I would call a “classic” aggro deck. Obviously showcased here workshop weenie is clearly an aggro deck but something like rdw, green stompy, black mold, or something similar would be nice to see.
Really enjoying this series, but some variance (black mold, mardu aristocrats, etc) could be cool.
Oh, I frequently think every now and then, of the glorious fruit of the noble hen! Eggs! Eggs! E, double-G, S-eggs!
For the uninitiated, why's bomberman combo called that? Is it just "man finds bombs, both metaphorical and literal", or is there a deeper cut I'm not appreciating?
Because the original Auriok Salvager decks used to win by using the infinite mana to crack and recur Pyrite Spellbomb ;)
Can't wait for the 3quel eggs v eggs where it's just Wheeler and a mirror.
Isn't Mox Mox academy vault jitte too many points? I thought Vault was 2 but I can't find the points list anymore.
Gerry T special is my favorite alter
Big shout out to Wheeler for having someone scuff out card art done by TERFise Nielson
I've watched this Vid at least once a day since it came out and I swear to Medusa, I STILL can't figure out what Serge did on turn 1. I need to find a Canadian Highlander partner.
Thanks for the games great games ☺
21:11 Not a big deal, but Wheeler would have been able to know about the MoE legally from it being revealed by the Reality Heist
Would y’all ever take deck requests or submissions?
So 3 colour eggs are 3 cheese, 4 colour eggs are an omelette and is 5 colour eggs scrambled? Love your Canlander content, keep it up
you guys should do ug tempo vs uw tempo that would be funny you watch
Serge playing Kaladesh Block Constructed in game 2 ahaha
Great content keep it up
Why didn’t Serge protect the electric tomato with jitte?
Man I love this content
I would love to see a spells storm deck
I'd love to see someone pilot The Rock. Maybe have Allison on as a guest?
Or have wheeler bring in Monowhite "Ruin your Evening"
I saw the echo of eons and the gears started turning trying to process it until I looked at the preview and knew exactly why 😔
Serge's positivity is infectious
I think it would have been hilarious if you had said "...well, that's it, we're out of time!" And actually rolled the credits for the episode and then had a stinger for the episode be the extra game.
I really hope they keep doing game 3 in games where its super one sided like how this one was
Serj revealed the Master of Etherium from the previous spell.
Guys I plead that you match the order in the title with who is standing where in the thumbnail.
Walking Ballista is just a bad Mogg Fanatic 🤪
I love how wheeler would have been saved by having a single cheap land that gains 1 life in his deck. At least for one turn.
I want to see mirror box, pls and thank you
The master is known information.
I'd like to see the rock get some play time.
