The mountain west is more of an average conference, not on the level of the SEC, Big10, Big12. UNLV plays at the Las Vegas Raiders stadium it isn’t the schools actual property.
I'm not sure why he didn't actually find out that it's called The Smurf Turf at BSU, having grown up in Idaho I can tell you it's been called that for well over 30 years.
I don't know if you missed it but the one in Las Vegas is the new home of the recently moved Vegas Raiders NFL team,. The fact that they get to share that Stadium gives them a leg up at UNLV.
Fun fact about Allegiant Stadium. The stadium was completed in time for UNLV to open the season at home, in 2021. And they did, by losing in double overtime to a team from the lower division of College Football, Eastern Washington {FCS}. Definitely not the way you want to christen your new Home Field.
Part of the reason the Fresno State Bowl is dug in the ground is because summers are so hot and this provides more shade in the late afternoon and more comfortable for the players.
Boise state! Albertson's stadium was the first to have a non-traditional colored football field. Its often called the smurf turf and now also just called the blue. We love our field and our Broncos! I grew up going to games with my grandpa. Great memories 💙🧡
Okay, the first one, Hawaii, had to change their stadium. Although a Historic venue unfortunately, Aloha Stadium was decaying. They chose the wrong materials when they built it. It was constructed using metal girders, rather than Cement Columns. However, the metal stricture began deteriorating due to the tropical humidity with heavy salt water in the air. Eventually it got so bad, sections of the stadium were closed off during the games, because they corroded all the way through, to where seats had fallen out. The once proud and beautiful Aloha Stadium, was deconstructed, and a smaller location has been established for the University. Really, they put it together quickly, so they would have a home atmosphere feel. When they closed the original stadium down, Hawaii's home games were played at a local high school.
I think in the 80s Boise State changed their Turf from Green to Blue, it was originally a publicity stunt to get more eyes on the school, and it worked. since then more teams have introduced odd colored fields, a couple are in other conferences. one in the MAC, Mid American Conference and one in the Sun Belt Conference. Easter Michigan of the MAC has a Silver and Green field. Coastal Carolina of the Sun Belt have a Teal Field.
Eastern Washington (in Spokane) has a red field. Blue field is unsettling to visitor teams and it's hard to see Boise players if they have blue uniforms.
0:38 it's the Practice Facility for the University of Hawai'i that's why it's so small. They had to move in to the on campus Practice Facility after their home stadium, Aloha Stadium was condemned and shut down by the state.
The California central valley where Fresno State is at, is mostly known for high school baseball. A lot of high school players get drafted by the MLB around central valley
So there are 130 division 1 or (FBS) schools, and the MWC is one of the group of five conferences, which are not in the power 4 (major conferences). The difference in revenue is huge between these schools and the biggest powerhouse schools. For example, Ohio State makes more money in one home game than UNLV's football team makes all year, and that doesn't even include the TV revenue. For that, UNLV makes about 7 million a year, and each team in the Big Ten will be making almost 100 million a year with their new TV contract.
Hey Lyle, love joining your Geoguessr streams. Often I’m studying - at UNLV - as I watch your streams for some background noise. I graduate in May! As others have mentioned, our stadium isn’t on campus, but rather it’s mainly known as the Raider’s stadium.
Yeah the last one is an NFL stadium. The Las Vegas Raiders play there. They share it with UNLV. There are a few shared stadiums between NCAA and NFL teams. Bulls/Bucs, Hurricanes/Dolphins, Steelers/Panthers are examples.
All about that beige, bout that beige, no color. - Meghan Trainor😅 All jokes aside, Boise probably has the coolest stadium in the game with that blue field, imho. And I don't necessarily care for the color blue, so I'm not at all bias in that respect🤷♂️ It's just a sweet, sweet look for the Broncos. Who knows? Maybe that Fiesta Bowl changed my mind. It just looks fantastic with the perfect mix of colors.
Not saying that the sun here isn't a concern, but we don't get the tropical sun you do in Queensland. Also, football is an Autumn sport so the Sun is even lower in the sky; our noontime sun might be equivalent to your mid-morning or late afternoon.
If his humor is rubbing off be very afraid. The Mountain West is smaller school generally with smaller stadiums. But some have fierce following. Come national ranking time they aren't taken to serious but there have been some years . . .
The really intensely hot and sunny stadiums typically play a lot of night games to keep the players from dying and the fans from turning to ash lol
He forgot to mention the evergreen tree section in Wyoming’s stadium

6:57 Snapdrgon also hosts Rugby. the San Diego Legion of Major League Rugby play their home games at Snapdragon.
I think the all blacks from NZ just played there recently too.

UNLV is one of the 6 schools that share with the local NFL team. In their case, the Las Vegas Raiders.
Allegiant in Vegas is the only stadium with a nightclub in the end zone.

Watching these will certainly show you which conferences have money. Some of these would look good if we hadn't seen the other conferences first.

that big round building next to mackay stadium is our basketball stadium, that team is actually good so they get a beautiful arena lmao

The MWC ended up merging with teams that didn't leave the PAC12
UNLV shares the stadium with the Las Vegas Raiders of the NFL

Does anyone know if he’s reacted to the Iowa stadium that’s right next to the children’s historical yet?
I couldn’t understand why the stadiums were so small because I’m a dork just realized “Mountain West” means stadiums in the West Mountains.

Hi Lyle
Nobody knows what's a top conference that's subjective
It used to be the power 5 but they don’t exist anymore
@@Kojak024 that's what I'm talking about it's all subjective ain't nothing really happening the CFP is still garbage
